This rain feels wrong.
How co after only two minutes, it feels like two days?
In the rain, Huai Shi couldn't help but sneeze. The people behind him began to push him roughly. He stumbled forward, his hands and feet icy cold.
Will this world ever get better? What does the Ivy League want from ?
Tears welled up, almost uncontrollably.
It felt as if Hell was empty, and the devils were right here before him...
By the ti he boarded the aircraft, he was completely drenched.
He shook the water from his hair and, with difficulty, raised his handcuffed hands to rub his nose. He looked around at the defiant Eyes of Nightmare.
He smirked and offered a friendly greeting.
"Hello, everyone."
He looked towards a man who seed to be the captain and asked, "Excuse , do you have a cigarette?"
The captain, who was smoking, looked up at him. His gaze was cold and indifferent; he said nothing.
As the cabin door slowly closed, shutting out the view of those outside, the captain suddenly strode over. The n on either side of Huai Shi grabbed him and held him down.
Just as Huai Shi was about to struggle, he saw the burly captain raise a fist and punch him hard in the stomach.
The imnse force made Huai Shi double over involuntarily.
He retched.
He almost vomited out the key he had just swallowed.
Then, his hair was grabbed, and he was forcefully yanked to his feet.
"Don't think you're going to get any favors from just because you're so damn Inspector."
The captain pulled out a dagger, aid it at Huai Shi's face, and told him, enunciating each word, "I. Don't. Care!"
Unlike the powerful and affluent Ivy Vine, these rcenaries who scraped a living in Hell didn't fear the Astronomical Society's authority. Outside the Current Circumstances and the Border, even the Jurisdiction Bureau's power couldn't reach everywhere.
Most of the denizens in the Tomb of the Holess were lawless like this; so might have even killed soone from the Astronomical Society before fleeing to Hell.
To them, the title of Inspector was worthless.
Besides, not even an hour had passed since Huai Shi had inflicted grievous losses upon them. How could they possibly treat this captive as an honored guest?
"You'd better behave on the way and don't try any tricks," the captain said.
As he spoke, the captain's dagger slowly slid across Huai Shi's face, cruelly opening a gash.
Blood welled from it.
The Six-fold Shackles suppressed all of Huai Shi's abilities that surpassed those of an ordinary person, forcibly reverting him to a normal human state. He no longer had any deadly poison for self-defense.
This ti, it was the crimson blood of an ordinary human.
It trickled slowly down.
"If I hear one more useless word out of you," the captain said expressionlessly, flicking the blood from his blade. He bent down, staring into Huai Shi's eyes, and added in a cold voice, "I'll chop off one of your fingers."
In the silent stare-down, Huai Shi's lips suddenly curled into a slight arc.
His bloodied face broke into a smile.
It was a mocking smile, as if he had effortlessly glimpsed the weakness behind that tough exterior.
"But you wouldn't dare kill , right?"
"Old Nine," the captain ordered suddenly, his gaze fixed on Huai Shi.
Imdiately, a nearby guard rose, forcibly lifted Huai Shi's wrist, and pried his fingers open.
Huai Shi offered little resistance.
But just before the blade fell, he suddenly said, "The Hell Music Association."
The movent froze.
The captain slowly raised his eyes, his expression turning even colder. "What did you say?"
"Just so words that tend to annoy people." Huai Shi shrugged with a smile. "I know saying this will displease soone again, but I still have to be a nag and remind you—"
He continued, "If you don't care about the title of Inspector, then what about... a Disastrous Musician?"
Huai Shi studied the captain's eyes and asked softly, "So, you're going to cut off a finger of a Disastrous Musician? What would the Hell Music Association think? You have an agreent with them, don't you? Who will treat your Soul Wounds then?
Oh, and by the way, I'm also an Abyss Kitchen Devil, officially certified by the Chef Demon Competition Committee. Perhaps you'd like to see my credentials? What will you do if you can't buy food or poison?
Furthermore, I am a Legendary Investigator of the Darknet—the largest intelligence hub in all the Borders. You *do* know what you're doing, right?"
Silence.
A sudden, deathly silence fell.
On the captain's face, angry veins throbbed on his forehead, making his expression even more ferocious.
Yet Huai Shi's smile remained unchanged.
On his face, the vicious gash was already starting to close. Apart from the blood, which now seed almost illusory, no trace of the wound remained.
"Now, you can chop off all ten of my fingers, or you can let ask my question again," Huai Shi said, still smiling.
"Excuse , do you have a cigarette?"
It was late at night when Raymond and the others returned to the base.
Raymond hadn't even gotten out of the car when, behind the gate, he saw the teenage girl in the grey dress waiting there.
The veteran driver imdiately felt a headache coming on...
How was he supposed to explain this to her?
He considered pretending he hadn't seen her and just sneaking away quietly.
But when Huai Shi didn't appear after a mont, Yuan Yuan's expression changed slightly. She walked towards him. "Mr. Raymond, where is my teacher? Isn't he here?"
"Er..." Raymond froze, feeling what few brain cells he had left begin to overload and crash.
