Now reading: Chapter 267 - 233 Shadow from Apocalypse: I Build A Doomsday Train, a Sci-fi novel by Bu Er Cola.

"Building, KIKI, the two of you, go together to the 7th floor and bring that life-saving surgical dical cabin back to the car first, then call more people to co down."

Lin Xian looked out at the empty research hall and the many remaining research equipnt, and said directly: "Before the water floods in, let’s scour this research institute thoroughly. I see there are many employee lounges and offices here, even so living supplies shouldn’t be overlooked. Opportunities like this will be hard to co by in the future."

"Mhm." Shu Qin nodded: ’You’re right. Now that Star Abyss No. 5 and No. 7 have begun to spread, we’ll be heading closer to the direction of Star Abyss no matter which path we take. The faster we move, the quicker it gets dark. This afternoon, the radio has already received ssages from many survivors; the east, northern line, and Palma Prairie are experiencing snowstorms now, with multiple Extre Cold Vortexes approaching us, and Star Abyss No. 3 isn’t far from us either.’

Ding Junyi was busy searching through useful information among the papers on Hua Xiaoling’s office floor, speaking without lifting her head: "The Extre Cold Vortexes occur because the moisture from Yunjiang Plain’s Shijiu Lake and the Southeast Sea is being carried by the tides of Star Abyss No. 8 and No. 4. The resulting snowstorm will be unprecedented, which the Federation had assessed as a natural disaster and seems very accurate right now."

Lin Xian’s expression darkened slightly upon hearing this: "Yes, the temperature at Hengshan Pass is decreasing continuously. As soon as we leave this station, we must rush through the encirclent of Star Abyss No. 5 and No. 7 in one go. There will be few opportunities to search for supplies or replenish them on the way. We’ve got the chance now, so let’s seize it."

KIKI shrugged and looked inexplicably with wide eyes: "I can carry that thing out myself, why call the big guy?"

Lin Xian gave her a speechless look: "That thing is precious. If you run into trouble on the way, soone needs to look out for you. Otherwise, if you toss it out like a sandbag to smash zombies, where would I get another one?"

KIKI stuck out her tongue, thinking that indeed it’s sothing she might do.

"Alright, Brother Xian, we’ll be off then." Building nodded, never doubting Lin Xian’s arrangents.

"Be careful, you guys. I’ll go back and call more people to clear this place out!" After KIKI finished speaking, she followed Building back to the 7th floor.

Lin Xian glanced at Director Ding still busy searching for docunts, then turned to Shu Qin and said: "Let’s go then. I figure this floor will likely flood soon. We’ll do a quick search and find suitable things, then make our way upstairs one floor at a ti. I reckon there might be so usable stuff in the armory on the 5th floor."

"Mhm." Shu Qin nodded and took out the Remington M96, and the three of them started heading down the stairs towards the research hall from the office’s end.

Before reaching the bottom of the stairs, the sound of rushing waves echoed, and many lights dimd due to short circuits.

Lin Xian and the others descended, finding the lower corridor already flooded, water reaching ankle-deep, with an icy chill instantly seeping through.

The hollow sound of rushing wind sighed constantly from the deep passage.

"The water’s reached this floor." Seeing the situation, Shu Qin said.

Lin Xian frowned and imdiately dismissed the idea of continuing the search on this floor, saying directly: "Forget it, let’s go to the 8th floor."

He decided that safety should co first. Though there were many usable equipnt in the research hall for devouring, they required a substantial amount of ti. With the entire research institute flooding, he had no choice but to abandon them.

He had considered organizing people to move whatever can be carried, but under these circumstances, priority must be given to transporting useful supplies rather than expendables for devouring.

Anyway, once he’s out, he could seize the chance at night to devour the "Night Star No. 2" nuclear-powered turbine processor aboard the Dragon Transport Ship. Lin Xian’s mind knew which option was safer.

"Wait a mont." At this ti, Ding Junyi pointed to a floor layout sign on the wall and said: "The information archives room is just ahead. There’s a need to check it out. This research institute has many inexplicable things, and gaining more useful information would surely help us."

Lin Xian gazed at Ding Junyi, pondered briefly, then nodded: "Alright, it shouldn’t be too far."

So they moved, directly entering the flooded passage, advancing toward the information archives room.

Because the 9th floor height almost equaled three levels, certain confidential research facilities and archives were isolated in a separate area. As soon as they turned the corner, the front open passage echoed with the sound of rushing Qingshui.

Whoosh ~

The sound of three people wading through the corridor continually echoed, sounding sowhat eerie.

Soon, the trio traversed the passage to another area of the 9th floor, ascending the stairs, arriving in a corridor that originally appeared tightly secured.

The place wasn’t flooded yet; a straight corridor lay ahead with a large yellow door, equipped with an access control and security system outside.

"Seems like this is the information archives room."

Actually, Lin Xian didn’t hold much hope, because the internal network system had been entirely transferred, and top-secret materials wouldn’t be left in paper form. However, since they brought Director Ding, he hoped there might be discoveries.

At present, he highly suspected the afternoon’s bait marking was the handiwork of this foundation, which coincidentally aligned with the foundation leading the Federation and Phoenix Society in various research fields. The baffling part was why specifically leave a Phoenix Society insignia when making such a move.
