Chapter 1060: Nowhere Left to Run

Feeling both arms fully healed, Ethan’s confidence surged.

With Henry back in action, this fight was as good as won.

That was the kind of security that ca with having the Fallen Star Squad’s top healer on your side.

“Henry, get over to Garrick and patch him up,” Ethan ordered.

“I’ll try, but I’ve only recovered a bit of ntal energy,” Henry said, a little sheepish.

“Alright, then don’t push it. Just focus on recovering,” Ethan replied, grabbing the barbell bar from Henry and stepping back to the front line.

His own barbell bar had been wrecked by the mutated Bengal tiger earlier—he’d have to borrow Henry’s for now.

The tiger, now facing a crowd of enemies, hesitated. Its eyes flicked from one person to the next.

It knew most of them were running on fus—but then again, so was it.

Its injuries were getting worse by the second.

After a long, hard glare at the group, the tiger finally turned and bolted toward the mountain.

“Oh, hell no. You beat us half to death and now you wanna run?” Ethan growled.

He teleported straight into the tiger’s path and swung the barbell bar with everything he had.

BOOM!

The bar bent hard on impact, but it stopped the tiger cold for a mont.

The beast retaliated instantly, swiping Ethan with a paw and sending him flying.

But maybe because it was so weakened, the hit didn’t land as hard as before. Ethan coughed up blood, rolled across the ground, and still managed to get back on his feet—right back in the tiger’s path.

The others were already closing in fast.

The tiger glanced at them, then roared and lunged at Ethan again.

If this human wanted to die so badly, it would grant his wish.

Ethan’s face tightened. He crossed both arms in front of him, bracing to take the full hit.

This wasn’t like a casual swipe—this was a full-force pounce. If it landed clean, he’d be seriously injured.

But he didn’t back down.

If he moved, the tiger would escape. And with his ntal energy drained, he couldn’t teleport again. If it got away now, they’d never catch it.

The tiger was almost on him when—FLASH!—an Energy Barrier appeared in front of Ethan.

The tiger smashed through it, but the impact slowed it just enough.

Ethan caught the brunt of the blow but managed to stay on his feet, sliding back over ten steps before stopping.

The tiger roared and tried to charge again—only to be yanked backward.

Sean had grabbed its tail with his tal arms and was pulling with everything he had, dragging the beast a few steps in reverse.

The tiger whipped its tail forward in a violent arc, flinging Sean straight toward its gaping jaws.

At the last second, Big Mike appeared out of nowhere and snatched Sean out of the air, saving him from becoming tiger chow.

The tiger tried to press the attack, but a beam of light shot into its eyes, forcing it to recoil.

“Sean, are you out of your damn mind? You grabbed its tail?” Big Mike stared at him like he’d lost it.

“I was about to punch its jaw off! Why’d you pull back?” Sean snapped.

“…You serious?” Big Mike blinked.

“You think I was trying to feed myself to it?”

“You sure those tal arms aren’t just for show?” Miles chid in, deadpan.

“The tiger’s bite force is no joke. I don’t think even your gear could take it.”

“…”

Mia and Skinny Pete arrived just then, and the six of them quickly surrounded the tiger.

Now it was boxed in.

For the first ti, a flicker of worry showed in the tiger’s eyes.

It let out a thunderous roar at Ethan, a clear warning—back off, or everyone dies.

But Ethan didn’t budge.

He stood his ground, eyes locked on the beast, not giving an inch.

Seeing that Ethan still refused to move, the mutated tiger let out a furious roar and lunged at him again.

But before it could reach him, a pair of pitch-black energy hands materialized out of thin air and grabbed one of its legs.

The tiger tore free almost instantly—but that brief pause was all Mia needed.

A wave of water surged in, followed by a blast of ice, freezing the tiger in place once more.

Then—ZAP!—a Light Beam shot straight into the open wound on its neck, searing the flesh and deepening the injury.

The tiger shattered the ice and broke free, but the mont it did, Sean was already there.

He slamd his spiked tal arm into the tiger’s skull with a brutal uppercut.

Even a beast this powerful staggered, dazed from the blow.

And then—Chris struck.

A sharpened barbell bar, coated in a black, razor-thin aura, appeared out of nowhere and drove straight into the tiger’s neck wound—piercing all the way into its skull.

Chris was back on his feet. Either he’d recovered on his own, or Henry had gotten to him first.

That strike was lethal.

The barbell bar was six feet long, and under the effect of Chris’s black energy, it drove in nearly twenty-five inches.

“RRAAAHHH…”

The tiger let out a final, guttural scream.

Its tail lashed out, slamming into Chris and sending him flying. At the sa ti, it swiped Sean with a paw, knocking him back as well.

Then it staggered, trying to flee.

But it didn’t get far.

Its massive body collapsed to the ground after only a few steps.

“…Hahhh…”

Everyone exhaled at once, the tension breaking like a snapped wire. Then, one by one, they dropped to the ground, too exhausted to stand.

This had been the most brutal fight the Fallen Star Squad had ever faced.

“Is it dead?” Sean asked quietly.

“Not yet,” Ethan said, eyes still locked on the beast. “Its stomach’s still moving. Barely breathing.”

“Ethan… should I try now?” Skinny Pete asked, voice low.

“Not yet,” Ethan said. “If it lashes out in a death spasm, you won’t survive it. Rest first. We all need to recover a bit.”

“Got it.”

The group stayed where they were, catching their breath.

A few minutes later, Henry and Garrick joined them. Garrick’s wounds were mostly healed now—thanks to Henry, who could bring back anyone short of dead.

They rested for over ten minutes. During that ti, Henry made the rounds, patching up anyone still injured.

By the ti they stood again, most of them were still drained, but otherwise back in fighting shape.

The tiger, not far off, was barely clinging to life. Its breathing was shallow, its belly rising and falling in slow, weak pulses.

They approached carefully.

The tiger opened its eyes, glaring at them with a mix of rage, unwillingness… and a flicker of regret.

Skinny Pete stepped forward, locking eyes with the beast.

He activated his Beast Control ability, pushing it to the absolute limit.

The tiger’s gaze shifted—first defiant, then confused. Its eyes flickered with fear for the first ti.

It was too weak to resist.

Its expression wavered between struggle and surrender, back and forth, again and again.

Sweat poured down Pete’s face. He gritted his teeth, refusing to let go.

This was it.

If he could pull this off, the Fallen Star Squad would leap to a whole new level. Controlling a beast like this would double their strength overnight.

And Pete? He’d no longer be the weakest link.

The others stood frozen, watching him in silence. No one even dared to breathe too loudly, afraid to break his focus.
