"Boss, did you sense it? One of our kind has entered the Red Stone Hotel."
The room fell silent, as if frozen.
After a while, a CLANG sounded.
It was the sound of the spoon in Wen Yu’s hand falling onto the plate.
"Why didn’t you ntion it earlier?"
Facing Wen Yu’s loud questioning, Star said innocently, "I didn’t sense any malice... Besides, its aura was so faint, pitifully weak, that I thought I was mistaken..."
Hearing Star’s explanation, Wen Yu was infuriated. He fiercely pinched the soft flesh on Star’s belly, picked up the two soul pets, and shouted, "Lead the way! Hurry up!"
Seeing Wen Yu’s impatient look, Star suddenly realized... It looks like I might get another little friend.
This was Wen Yu’s fault. He had always been unwilling to discuss things like the Soul Master contract with his two soul pets. Although a Soul Master’s contract with a soul pet wasn’t a Slavery Contract, and was more like an emotional bond, it couldn’t change the fundantal nature of subordination! Thus, Wen Yu rarely brought up matters like contracts with his two soul pets.
"The kitchen, the kitchen on the second floor!"
Before Star had finished speaking, Wen Yu had already transford into a black light, shooting towards the kitchen on the second floor!
The Red Stone Hotel’s kitchen was enormous.
There was a kitchen for preparing als for regular guests, and a high-end kitchen for preparing customized food for VIPs.
At this mont, in the high-end kitchen, the head chef and several assistant chefs were sharpening their knives, preparing to cook ingredients, and laid out before them was an enormous wolf’s head!
It was the head of the Third-level mutant wolf that had perished alongside the warrior nad Overlord in the skill competition arena.
Claus’s calculations were sharp; even if a mutant beast died in the skill competition arena, Claus would squeeze every last bit of value from it.
Behind the crowd of chefs, a black cat quietly observed the wolf’s head, its mouth agape and eyes unclosed in death, a mysterious light flickering unceasingly in its own eyes.
The chefs were completely oblivious to all of this...
That was until the door to the kitchen was forcefully pushed open with a THUD, and Wen Yu walked in with his two soul pets.
The head chef here recognized Wen Yu. The beef from lunch had been prepared by this very chef, who had even t Wen Yu personally to explain the preparation thods for various dishes.
Seeing Wen Yu walk in, the head chef nodded with a wide smile and said, "Sir, were you perhaps dissatisfied with this evening’s dishes?"
"No, it was very satisfying."
Wen Yu replied absently while establishing a ntal link with Star.
"So it is here, right?"
"Yes, it’s right here."
"Why can’t I see it?"
"Maybe it has so special skill."
The black cat lay on the cutting board directly opposite Wen Yu, its jewel-like eyes fixed on him—or rather, more on Star, who was perched on Wen Yu’s head. Yet, Wen Yu and Star genuinely hadn’t noticed the black cat’s presence.
Seeing that the head chef wanted to say more, Wen Yu casually waved his hand, "You can all leave first."
"Very well, sir."
The group of chefs obediently followed Wen Yu’s command, leaving only Wen Yu and his two soul pets in the spacious kitchen, constantly looking around.
"Are you really sure it’s still here?"
"Not certain, but this is definitely where the aura is strongest."
After scanning the entire kitchen up and down and finding nothing, Wen Yu couldn’t help but feel a little impatient. He frowned, thought for a mont, and then made a decision.
"Hey, are you there? Co out and et . I an no harm."
Divine beasts could communicate; there was no doubt about that.
Originally, Wen Yu’s idea was to et it first, then consider whether to coerce or entice it. But now, he couldn’t even see it, so he could only try a verbal approach to coax the unknown divine beast out.
Star, on his head, also chid in, constantly yelling.
Unfortunately, despite the man and his two soul pets calling out for a long ti, they still ca up empty-handed.
"Let’s go."
Wen Yu took one more look at the empty kitchen, then turned and walked out.
Wen Yu wasn’t sure if the divine beast was still here. He wasn’t even sure if a divine beast had appeared here at all by this point.
Even if that divine beast was right here, if it remained hidden and didn’t reveal the slightest hint of its aura, Wen Yu had absolutely no way to deal with it.
Gently closing the kitchen door, Wen Yu gave a nod to the group of chefs and then led his two soul pets towards his upstairs bedroom.
And in a place unseen by Wen Yu, the black cat stretched leisurely, then vanished in a flash of purple light.
After returning to his room, Wen Yu directly rinsed off his body, then lay on the bed, organizing the events of the day.
Kuangliu had been cooped up in the room all day, possibly receiving so secret instructions. Kuangliu wouldn’t tell Wen Yu about this, and Wen Yu wouldn’t ask.
This could be considered a tacit understanding between the two.
Thinking again briefly about the mysterious divine beast Star had ntioned, Wen Yu couldn’t help but ask once more, "Are you really sure you didn’t sense it wrong?"
Star actually hesitated this ti, "I’m not too clear. The aura was very faint. I don’t know if it was an illusion or not."
"Forget it!"
After mulling it over for a long ti without figuring out what was going on, Wen Yu decisively cleared his mind, pulled the covers over his head, and went straight to sleep.
As for Cyclops and Star, they were even more blithely unconcerned. Without a thought for anything, it took less than a minute for the two beasts to start snoring, practically racing each other.
Just as the master and his two pets were soundly asleep, the moon, obscured by clouds, quietly peeked out from a corner of the sky.
A streak of purple light silently darted into Wen Yu’s bedroom, nimbly leaping onto Wen Yu’s bed.
No aura, no sound; even the black cat’s body seed as if it had no weight at all.
Wen Yu’s sleep quality was quite high. But, living in the apocalypse, when it ca to alertness, Wen Yu was confident he was second to none! Even in his sleep, Wen Yu could literally see in all directions and hear everything around him; this was absolutely not a taphor, it was a fact.
And Cyclops’s and Star’s perception abilities were even stronger than Wen Yu’s!
Yet, concerning the black cat right beside them, the man and his two soul pets were completely oblivious, simply sleeping even more soundly.
The black cat’s erald green eyes sized Wen Yu up and down. Then, it moved even closer to Wen Yu’s cheek and sniffed vigorously.
Then, the black cat’s face instantly wrinkled. Perhaps the sll of smoke on Wen Yu made the black cat very uncomfortable.
Afterward, the black cat walked directly over to Star, extended a delicate pink tongue, and gently licked the small horn on Star’s head...
"HEE HEE HEE, Doggy, stop ssing around..."
Star giggled from the itchiness but didn’t wake up at all. Instead, as if having a wonderful dream, it rolled over and continued to sleep soundly.
