Now reading: Chapter 23: Chapel Of Sustenance from Apocalypse Online: Regression of SSS-Class Summoner, a Game novel by CloverNine.

After Max spent the four hours, once he finished playing the ga for 6 continuous hours, by eating, cleaning, exercising, buying groceries, and helping Auntie Sarah, he finally returned to the ga.

As soon as he logged in, it was now 5pm.

He was standing outside the Arcane Cottage as he glanced above.

He thought. It should be at this ti.

Suddenly, a global broadcast appeared in the sky, accompanied by a thunderous voice and fireworks.

[World Announcent.]

[Congratulations to Player [Spencer Lewis] for becoming the first player in the warrior path to awaken a D-Rank Class—Swordsman.

He earned the following Title: {The First Warrior}

A new path has been opened to all players.]

Max smirked. It wasn’t surprising for Spencer to earn the First Warrior global achievent. Ever since Spencer was a child, as far as Max could rember, he was already trained to swing a sword.

His father has the blood of Japanese samurai and it has been their tradition to pass their sword techniques to their descendants.

Furthermore, the swordsman class was probably the easiest to learn. Max wouldn’t be surprised if Spencer gained a perfect evaluation in his class advancent.

He thought. They might say mage is weaker than a warrior, but we work with our brain more than them, who are all brawn.

Of course, it would be ridiculous to claim that Spencer was all brawn, no brain. He led the Lewis Guild until it beca one of the Top 5 super guilds in Apocalypse Online in the past.

Nevertheless, Max was confident he would win against him at the current state if they would fight in a duel.

Max shook his head and left his gaze from the announcent in the sky.

He swept his gaze outside of the Arcane Cottage and noticed most of the players in the street were distracted by the sky.

He grinned and shook his head as he left to complete the quest.

...

Max first proceeded to the Chapel of Sustenance—one of the central platforms in the Greyfen Village.

It was also the nearest location to investigate the unstable mana around the village that the Archmage had detected.

When Max arrived in the chapel, there were a handful of people praying.

Max swept his gaze around as he entered.

He sauntered on the hallway, observing the countenance of every person praying—kneeling while closing their eyes and clasping their hands together.

Until he finally arrived in front of the altar.

Max glanced at the statue in front. Max was familiar with him.

He thought. He’s an SSS-Rank Support from what I rembered. But the First Emperor was only an SS-Rank and he was the one who built the empire.

As far as I know, the religions in the empire existed way before the empire, and that person is said to save humanity by sacrificing himself during the apocalypse that occurred in this world.

The royal family didn’t even try to erase his existence, even if there’s a possibility that his followers might take over the empire.

Max was familiar with the story of the devout NPC worshiped. It was similar to the biggest religion back in his real world, causing many of the players to also choose the support path, especially those devout believers.

Their faith didn’t conflict with the faith of the NPC’s anyway, causing most of the rankers to co from the Support path.

Max left his gaze from the statue and glanced at the small ornanted box. From what Max recalled, inside there was a bread, symbolizing the flesh of the savior.

As he was staring at it, he frowned.

He swept his gaze around first before deciding to walk upstairs towards it.

As he entered the sanctuary, and arrived in front of the small ornanted box, his eyes widened.

His mana sensitivity was tingling.

[You have detected an unusual mana in the Chapel of Sustenance.

Remaining places to be investigated: Range Watchtower and Village Bell Tower.]

"What are you doing?" A feminine voice echoed, causing Max to be greatly startled.

He turned towards it and saw a sister coming out of the vestry walking towards him.

The sister wore a solemn expression, as she said, "Please have so respect."

Max turned towards her and bowed deeply.

Utilizing his mana sensitivity, he concluded that the sister was a D-Rank Healer from the mana she radiated.

Seeing him politely bowing towards her, the sister cald down sowhat.

She said, "I thought you were here to cause a scene."

Max was silent for a while. He utilized his mana sensitivity to determine if the sister was an enemy.

After concluding based on his perception, he said, "Sister, I’m actually here for the mission that Archmage Arlen had given to ."

Max straightened his back, making sure that the sister would see the badge on his chest.

Thankfully, with the effects of the First Awakener, the sister’s attitude completely changed.

She bead a smile and said, "I see, if it’s Archmage Arlen, then I don’t mind, as long as you are not doing sothing beyond your jurisdiction."

Her shoulder suddenly drooped and replied in a heavy tone, "Unfortunately, I might not be able to entertain you with your mission.

I’ve been feeling tired for soti now."

She left her gaze away from him and glanced at the people praying.

She said, "It’s not only , even them, too. However, I believe that it will only be a matter of ti before the savior will help us resolve our worries, our exhaustion."

Max nodded. "I noticed that, too, Sister. Don’t worry, the savior won’t leave this be.

I’m pretty sure he already sent soone to solve this."

Sister’s eyebrows raised. She instantly picked up Max’s aning.

She bead a smile and said, "If this is resolved by the person that the savior sent, I, no, Sister Elira will reward them personally."

Max smiled and nodded.

He said, "Alright, I will leave now, Sister. I still have other places to investigate. I am grateful for your understanding."

The Sister bead a smile and nodded.

She was even more pleased when Max showed courtesy to their savior by bowing deeply towards him.
