Now reading: Chapter 40: NovaPro Immersion Pod from Apocalypse Online: Regression of SSS-Class Summoner, a Game novel by CloverNine.

It was quite a coincidence that Sarah was free. She had already settled her store’s business, and she had just finished checking the apartnt.

She was supposed to binge watching her favorite drama, but here she was, accompanying Max to settle on his tax.

It wasn’t that she was complaining about Max, she was complaining about how unpredictable the event was today.

Despite four hours having already passed and she helped Max settle with his tax, she was still in disbelief.

Even now, she was staring in a daze inside Max’s room, who had just finished replacing his gaming pod into an upgraded version.

She only had her consciousness returned when the store staff carried Max’s previous gaming pod.

She gazed at Max, who was caressing his new gaming pod with a wide grin on his face.

Her eyes slid towards a pack of syringes and she frowned.

She asked, "What are those? I didn’t hear your conversation with the salesman earlier."

Max glanced at the three packs filled with twelve syringes each. They contained a mix of blue and white liquid.

He replied, "Those? It’s a sleep compression pack. The supposed 8 hours of sleep is reduced to 4 to 5 hours."

Sarah gasped in shock.

"What?! Are you sure those are safe? You should limit its usage. Who knows what side effects it has?!"

Max smiled and assured her. "Don’t worry, auntie Sarah. I’ll definitely limit its usage. After all, my max hours of playing gas in a day is 12 hours, so I have 12 hours remaining to sleep 8 hours straight. Just that, the gaming pod can rest for four hours only, so, if in case sothing happens inside the ga that requires my ti, I’ll have to use the sleep compression pack."

Sarah was taken aback. She rubbed her glabella and sighed.

"I know that you aren’t addicted to gas, you’re simply too invested in it. After all, your hard work finally pays off, but you have to take care of yourself, too.

Don’t forget the expense of the hospital..."

She couldn’t continue her words, afraid she might jinx it.

Max smiled and nodded.

"Alright, I’ll take a leave now."

Before she could turn around, Max hastily said, "We’ll have dinner outside, the treat is on ."

Sarah was surprised. The stress she accumulated from earlier slowly faded.

She said, "Are you sure? Let’s do it quite far from this place to avoid getting the attention of the loan sharks."

Max bead a smile. "I’m not kidding. You don’t have to worry about the expenses. Since I can earn this much money in an instant, I can do so again and again."

Sarah nodded. She walked forward and hugged Max tightly.

"I’m so proud of you. On behalf of your parents, I’m deeply proud of you—of your brother, too.

Let’s surprise him with this.

I can’t wait to see him as stressed as I was earlier."

Max chuckled. "That’s not a bad idea."

...

As soon as Max logged in inside the ga, he checked the date. As expected, tomorrow has co—the day he was supposed to start clearing the dungeon.

He slapped his face.

"I only have less than an hour and half before taking them out for dinner. I should begin later."

Max wasn’t frustrated that he failed to increase his skill’s proficiency to interdiate level, but he was already satisfied that his arcane bolt reached the interdiate level.

Max, before going outside, decided to test what the NovaPro Imrsion Pod could bring.

After moving from right to left, executing Arcane Bolt from ti to ti, his eyes sparkled.

My movents beca even easier. So this is what it ant for enhanced neural synchronization?

In fact, Apocalypse Online was the only ga whose neural synchronization was enhanced compared to other gas who relied solely on the gaming pod.

However, it was still different when the gaming pod itself could provide the best effects for players.

This was the first ti Max tried an upgraded version from his NovaLite Pod.

He thought. This is actually huge. After all, the higher the rank, and the higher the difficulty of the quests, the higher the importance for neural synchronization.

Now that his gaming pod was upgraded, Max enjoyed a lot of benefits not only outside but also inside the ga—faster response ti, reduced input delay, smoother movent and skill execution, and more precise control.

It only signaled the importance of acquiring another upgraded version of the gaming pod that Aethernova would release in the future.

Aside from neural synchronization, the automated hydration system has also upgraded to the fourth version. There was also the addition of a basic waste extraction system, but it was for urine only.

Hence, Max always took a shit first before diving inside the ga.

Lastly, there was also the muscle stimulation to prevent fatigue after laying down in the sa position for twelve hours straight.

In other words, the CAD 14,500 wasn’t a waste—it was more than worth it.

As Max was rejoicing inwardly, his inbox suddenly rang.

He frowned and realized it was from Rhayne Sterling.

He opened the inbox and saw 99 ssages from her and sighed.

Without even trying to read it, he accepted the call.

"What took you so long to go online?!"

"Am I obliged to update you?"

"No, I was asking you."

"I was away, for important matters, of course."

"Tsk, tsk. Before you go offline, I’ve already ssaged you countless tis to tell Sir Sylwen that you have decided to take in as your archer instead of the NPC that he had prepared."

Max’s eyes widened.

Oh shoot, I forgot about that part.

He coughed.

"Did you try to convince him that we already agreed about it?"

"Yes, but he refused to listen to , unless YOU told him."

"Alright. I’ll tell him. Don’t worry about it."

Max could hear Rhayne heaving a sigh of relief.

"When will we leave?"

"I’ll tell you later. I still have matters to take care of outside."

"Give an estimate."

Max pinched his chin and pondered.

"Perhaps 6 or 8 hours later in the ga’s ti."

"Okay. That’s all. Thanks. I’ll prepare for now!"

The call ended.
