Archmage Arlen wasn’t rejoicing like others. He was simply sipping tea in his own residence once the news of Max reclaiming the watchtower post was disseminated.
He knew Max would co looking for him after he received the rewards from the Lieutenant. As expected, when he heard the noise intensified outside, his rune detected Max’s presence.
He deactivated the trap runes from the path leading to his residence. When Max arrived outside, he used his rune placed at the wall behind Max to communicate with him and assured he could now enter his residence.
Max finally appeared and sat in front of him. The silence was deafening. He only glanced at him once before pouring Max’s teacup.
As he placed the teacup to its previous position, he said, "So, what bothers you?" and finally stared at Max.
Max stared at him and replied, "Is it final that you’re going back to the capital city?"
Archmage Arlen nodded. "But I still have to stay for a month."
"Why now?" Max frowned.
Archmage Arlen snorted and rolled his eyes. "I didn’t expect you to complete the quest so early. Do you even experience failure just for once?"
Max shrugged and did not reply.
"Now, I have to create a thousand of runes just to fortify the village. I also have to create a path and finally fully reclaim the watchtower with my runes. Once everything is settled, I can now finally rest and return to the capital city."
Archmage Arlen sighed. He only said he would leave in two weeks because he doubted Max’s capability to complete the quest in two weeks. He believed it would take a month. By then, he finally returned ot the capital city and Lieutenant couldn’t forcefully order him to create rune finally reclaim the watchtower.
He simply wanted to escape from the responsibility as the village’s guardian mage after completing every matter for re two weeks. But now, Max surprised him again.
He did not only fail once, but he completed it in a single day.
Just how unfathomable is this guy? He thought. He was really frustrated but at the sa ti, a smile spread across his face.
Max couldn’t help but roll his eyes when he notice Archmage Arlen was smiling while complaining with the tone of clear vexation.
Archmage Arlen simred down and asked, "So, what bothers you again?"
Max stood up and said, "I’m not stronger enough."
He left Archmage Arlen’s residence and proceeded to the Controlled Mana Circle Room.
He planned to stay and practice his spells until the NovaPro Imrsion Pod warning him.
Archmage Arlen watched Max’s back disappearing from his sights.
He then stared at the tea Max didn’t sip.
He said, "Ah. Is he going to leave the tea cold?"
...
Max proceeded to the Controlled Mana Circle Room. Along the way, aspiring mages and mages themselves greeted him with great enthusiasm.
Max would simply force a smile and not once he slowed down his pace. When he finally has the silence after sitting in the Mana Controlled Room, he didn’t hesitate to ditate and attempt to increase his passive skills.
To easily increase his active skills, he needed to increase his passive skills first.
He didn’t need to increase his intelligence stat points because 50 points and above were the standards for advanced proficiency at D-Rank.
Max started to ditate and attempt to increase his mana sensitivity’s proficiency. Surprisingly, it only took him three hours to increase it to advance level.
[Your mana sensitivity proficiency level increased.
[Mana Sensitivity (Advanced): You have high-precision mana perception and can analyze casting patterns.
Effects:
Detection Range: 10 ters
Can identify spell types during casting
Can detect hidden magical constructs
15% magical awareness
Can read mana flow of other casters.]
What the system had shown was the updated and more detailed version of his skill’s description.
Once Max elevated the proficiency of Mana Sensitivity to advance level, he focused on his mana control again.
This ti, it took him more than three hours.
[Your mana control proficiency level increased.
[Mana Control (Advanced): You can compress mana at high density with efficient flow regulation and stable storage.
Effects:
-20% mana cost
15% casting speed
15% spell stability
15% mana regeneration
-15% casting strain]
With his mana regeneration now 15% instead of 10%, his mana regeneration was now 10.30 per minute. It was a significant increase, knowing that he was still at D-Rank.
Max was deeply satisfied. Now that his passive skills were elevated to advance level, it was now an appropriate ti to increase his active skills to advance level as well. He still has a month ahead, so he was not in a rush.
He checked the ti and noticed there were still three hours left for him to practice his active skills, so he did not dilly-dally anymore and proceeded to increase the Arcane Bolt’s proficiency first.
...
Three hours earlier in real-life ti, the NovaPro Imrsion Pod, after confirming that the owner was unconscious, imdiately shut down. The ergency response was activated, calling an individual who was assigned as the ergency contact.
The butler received the call instantly and rushed inside the luxurious room. She was familiar with the placent of an enormous room and quickly headed to the NovaPro Imrsion Pod.
She hastily checked pulse in the neck of the woman inside and was relieved that she was only unconscious. She conducted a deep analysis and concluded that her physical body was healthy.
She’s unconscious after getting ntally abused.
She hastily contacted the Aethernova’s contact support and received their shocking response.
The Aethernova had no control of Apocalypse Online’s pain synchronization. Just yesterday, there had already been cases where players were rushed to the hospitals after they were unconscious from the excruciating pain.
The Aethernova assured that her patient was only unconscious but added further examination of the patient’s ntal health status.
Psychological trauma might be inevitable—there would definitely be a higher chance that the player wouldn’t return to play Apocalypse Online again.
The butler wanted to bla the Aethernova, but she understood that by doing so wouldn’t change her master’s circumstances.
In the end, she could only contact her master’s mother—her grand master.
Margaret Sterling.
After all, the butler received a ssage that the pain synchronization being a hundred percent was only possible if they were attacked by a player.
The player who left a psychological trauma to her master should be dealt with...
