Of course, since within the curtain everything was covered in darkness, no one knew what was happening. However, as soon as the darkness energy curtain moved to another spot, the spot it was on would be littered with snake skeletons as well.

In fact, both Ye Xuan and Chu Miao used two opposite elents to achieve the sa result, which was to turn the snakes into skeletons.

The only difference was that Ye Xuan was devouring the snakes and all their energy and life force and strengthening himself.

This was sothing that they had both discovered when Ye Xuan used the power of darkness to kill those mutated fish during the floods.

The fish were quite strong at the ti and Ye Xuan could use their energy and life force to enhance his cultivation.

Now, he was doing the sa with the snakes and he left hundreds of skeletons in his wake.

The others weren’t left behind as everyone used their cultivation elent to suppress and kill the snakes surrounding them.

Soon, the space around them was littered with dead bodies of snakes and skeletons. When the others saw that most of them had been killed and they were not gaining any advantage, they turned around and slithered away.

As they watched the snakes run away, everyone was relieved. They didn’t want to run out of spiritual energy with hundreds of snakes surrounding them.

One could imagine what would happen if they had less ability to fend them off.

Chu Miao walked to the corpses of snakes killed by those who just used wind energy to slice them or other types of elents that didn’t damage the whole snake.

She took out a dagger and cut out the venom sac from the snakes. She didn’t know if it would be useful, but that was a resource she would not leave. She also took a few intact bodies for research purposes and put them in the soul ring.

After everything was done, the group continued to walk forward. It was only after walking for a while that they found an area ahead of them that was filled with flowers.

And just like everything else in the canyon, the flowers were bright red with shiny petals.

The stem of the flower was black with tiny white hairs making it look quite mysterious.

"No wonder they attacked so aggressively. They were protecting these flowers." Little White said as if finally enlightened.

"What are these flowers, Little White?" Lei Ying asked, looking ahead at the area with flowers curiously.

"I don’t rember the na of the flowers but I know that they are used in alchemy and are very rare. Moreover, this is one of those herbs that every part is useful in so way.

For example, this flower. The root is used to make a very potent poison that could kill within monts. The stem can be used to make powerful hallucinogens, and the petals are used to make a type of dicine that can heal internal injuries instantly.

Master, you should get more of these flowers, once you train an alchemist, you will be able to make dicine and poison that can be used as a weapon." Little White explained the use of the flowers and encouraged its owner to take more.

"Alright, Little White is right, but we should leave so so that the place doesn’t lose the flowers completely after we leave.

I will dig the flowers up myself, the rest of you can just protect . I don’t want you to accidentally ruin the roots or get poisoned." After giving instructions to the others, Chu Miao went forward with a dagger and squatted down to start harvesting the herbs.

From within the cluster of flowers, one could hear a hissing sound but Chu Miao didn’t care. She covered herself from head to toe with light energy like armour and continued with her work.

She also collected so seeds while she was at it to see if they could grow in the soul ring or the outside world.

After harvesting about three quarters of the flowers, she stopped and the group began walking forward again.

As they went deeper into the canyon, the place seed to change and the redness everywhere disappeared.

There was a clean blue lake in the distance. One could imagine how pure and clean that water is. The temperature also changed from high to normal.

It almost felt like they were in their own world before the apocalypse. They almost thought it was an illusion.

There were nurous high-quality herbs around the lake, but suddenly, Chu Miao realized that the closer they got to the lake, the less clear it beca.

The others noticed this problem as well and that creepy feeling ca back.

"How is it that when we were far away, we could see everything clearly, but now that we’re getting close, it has beco so foggy?" Chu Hao asked, puzzled.

"It’s better to be careful." Ye Xuan said while taking out his sword.

The others also took out their weapons again and held them tightly in their hands.

By the ti they were about two hundred ters away from the lake, they couldn’t see anything at all. The lake had disappeared into the fog.

This surprised them all because they couldn’t understand what was happening. Also, the lake was in the middle of the canyon and if they couldn’t cross then they would have to find another way to pass.

"Now what is happening here? How can a lake be so clear when we are far but when we get close it becos invisible?" Lei Ying was frustrated.

"It should be so kind of protection chanism. If you can see where you are going and can’t assess the danger then you wouldn’t get near the lake." Gu Fan who seed to have understood what was happening said.

"But what is being hidden in the lake? It can’t be just a regular lake if it needs such protection. Moreover, the fog surrounding the lake is probably not simple." Chu Hao added with a thoughtful look.
