"Over a hundred..."
ng Changwei couldn’t help but twitch at the corner of his eye upon hearing Zhang Su’s words. Every sentence from the other party seed to convey three words: bragging!
The credibility was low, but it couldn’t be completely dismissed. It was best to say it half-believingly.
"Rest assured, our experience is equally rich. When it cos to attracting zombies, there is absolutely no room for error; it’s a sure thing!"
Neither side was willing to be outdone in bragging, so what really mattered was how things would turn out.
"Alright, since we both believe there’s no issue, we should discuss how to attract the zombies. Although there are tens of thousands of them, with so many of us, we can take action in batches. We can pull in three to five thousand at a ti, and after ten to eight attempts, we can get it done. The most important thing is to plan the route well."
Zhang Su agreed to the cooperation proposal, as it was the best option at the mont. However, when both sides unfolded the map to study the routes, differences surfaced...
Neither side was willing to attract the zombies toward their own camp directions, which was understandable, but since cooperation was necessary, they had to sacrifice so benefits to gain others. Compromise was essential.
The final result of the discussion was simple; Celestial Horse Island was southwest of the Cyan Dragon Corps, and Bridge Town was southeast of the camp. Both parties aid to attract the zombies toward the northeast and northwest directions. The zombie distribution was straightforward, with alternating personnel and vehicles; Zhang Su would lead them northwest, while ng Changwei’s people would lead them northeast.
"Since there is no issue with task distribution, let’s discuss the division of resources."
Zhang Su was relatively satisfied with the previous negotiation, as the people of Bridge Town were clearly fewer than those of Celestial Horse Island, yet they were willing to take on half of the tasks. From this, Zhang Su saw so of ng Changwei’s approach and attitude in handling things, leading him to have longer-term plans, but everything had to start from simple cooperation.
"If we split equally... Master Zhang definitely won’t agree." ng Changwei probed, gasping, "I think three-seven for weapons and four-six for other resources; you take the larger share, is that okay?"
Considering the difference in strength between the parties, ng Changwei offered what he thought was a reasonable allocation proposal.
"What if there are survivors in the camp?"
Zhang Su didn’t dwell on resources first but asked about other matters.
"Survivors?" ng Changwei shook his head perplexed, "I estimate there are no survivors."
The man wearing a blue down jacket nodded, "Based on our observations, unless soone hid early on, they definitely couldn’t survive, it’s too difficult."
Only those who have seen the condition of the camp firsthand would understand how eerie it really is.
"Since you’re so sure, if there are survivors, I’ll take them! Moreover, no weapons division; we don’t want food!"
Zhang Su straightforwardly stated his distribution plan. Celestial Horse Island wasn’t interested in food now; many nearby villages hadn’t been cultivated yet. As long as there were weapons, the stored food in those villages would be theirs, so they were only interested in weapons and people.
"Uh... So, you’re saying, weapons and survivors for you, food for us?"
"Correct."
"Stockpiling food without stockpiling guns, Bridge Town would beco soone’s granary, this... Haha, Master Zhang, this might not be appropriate, right?"
ng Changwei chuckled awkwardly.
Zhang Su spread his hands, saying, "Boss ng is worried I’ll have ulterior motives, engage in betrayal?"
It was quite amusing to think; they take the weapons, the other party loads the food onto the car, and once loaded... boom, no need to do it themselves...
"Not at all!" ng Changwei naturally waved his hand, saying, "The world isn’t peaceful now, we need a powerful batch of weapons to arm our brothers."
"I know you’re eyeing the tanks in the camp. Truth be told, I’m here for that big guy too. According to the Cyan Dragon Corps brothers who defected, there are only two tanks in the camp; sorry, I want them both."
Zhang Su had no chance of compromise on this aspect; food was easy to find, but tanks couldn’t be made out of thin air.
"This is really difficult..."
ng Changwei hissed through his teeth, indeed coming for the tanks too. Just placing that great weapon in the camp would make even actual troops think twice!
Food is good, but tanks are even better.
While both sides were at a stand-off, they saw ten-plus zombie silhouettes appearing on the road north, heading toward the camp.
Zhang Su was naturally the first to notice, catching a black shadow moving with the corner of his eye. He turned to look and said seriously, "Sothing’s not right, zombies from the camp are out!"
Everyone imdiately looked toward the end of the road.
A large mass of black shadows slowly moved south, followed by more and more zombies, and almost all zombies within a few kiloters had gathered in the camp without guessing what was happening!
"Damn, this... Master Zhang, let’s get to work first, and discuss splitting accounts later, sound good?"
ng Changwei nervously opened the car door with his single eye.
"Alright, let’s get to work!"
Zhang Su didn’t hesitate, and waved his hand to signal everyone to get in the vehicle.
Everyone knew there was no ti for further debate; the common enemy had arrived, and they must join forces against it.
"We have ten vehicles, let’s start with three to pave the way!"
Zhang Su got into the driver’s seat and spoke to ng Changwei.
"Alright, we’ll coordinate the relay, but Master Zhang, don’t let your guard down, be ready for support at any ti!"
ng Changwei nodded heavily, then picked up the walkie-talkie to begin task allocation.
Without any more ti to waste, all vehicles started one after another, and the first batch of vehicles began to move slowly forward.
No matter what thod they used to attract zombies, be it cars or drones, they would face the limitation in terms of numbers. A car could produce noise that attracted up to three to five thousand zombies on the highway; more than that, stragglers would occur.
To ensure no mistakes, if stragglers appeared, soone had to perform a relay!
The team led by Zhang Su was battle-hardened, and in the actual combat phase, they were unfazed.
Each vehicle had two people, one dedicated to driving, and the other to creating noise to attract zombies and monitoring the direction of the zombie swarm. If straggling zombies or instances caused by distractions occurred, they had to promptly alert the driver, ensuring the swarm didn’t disperse, otherwise failing to attract them!
To ensure a good start, the first round was led by Lu Yubo in the front, responsible for making noise and observation were Zheng Xinyu and Tan Huajun, both of whom were seasoned veterans, swiftly leading away a large zombie group. The vehicle speed was controlled remarkably to ensure the swarm closely followed.
"Boss, these folks have so skill."
Hiding nearby to provide support, the people of Bridge Town watched the vehicles steer the swarm smoothly and nodded.
ng Changwei agreed, nodding, "Without skill, who would dare take this plunge? Watch carefully, learn well, it’ll soon be our turn!"
The people of Bridge Town weren’t inexperienced either; they consolidated survivors in the apocalyptic world with substantial skill. When the zombie swarm following Lu Yubo’s vehicle showed signs of losing interest, they imdiately filled in, quickly moved in circles on the road to compact the swarm’s formation, and once satisfied, drove in the pre-set direction; overall, they perford excellently, albeit with a slight discrepancy in attracting zombie numbers.
Repeated cycles, both teams kept busy from the sunrise to midday, taking nearly four hours. The camp finally stopped releasing zombies, leaving only a scarce number wandering the camp streets, numbering one to two hundred.
This number of zombies no longer posed any threat to Zhang Su and the groups from Bridge Town.
"Victory is in sight, let’s do it!"
After a brief rest, both teams took out cold weapons to walk the streets, starting the final cleanup task.
No one wanted disruptions from zombies while securing their spoils.
"Why not use guns?"
Among the crowd, Wu Lue whispered to Lu Yubo beside him.
"Are you stupid? Using guns would only bring back the zombies we pulled away!" Lu Yubo looked at Wu Lue with a ’can’t believe the ignorance’ glance, secretly pleased he got the chance to educate soone!
During the fighting, everyone secretly competed.
As they used cold weapons, collaboration within teams beca crucial. Though the danger wasn’t high, being surrounded by zombies if fighting alone posed great risks!
When engaging closely, daily training results could be evident.
The people of Celestial Horse Island moved efficiently, with seamless cooperation among them, connected by an unspoken mutual understanding, presenting a seemingly loose team that was in fact an integrated whole.
Of course, Xin Qi’s three captives weren’t included; they participated in the battle, but clearly wandered on the periphery, unable to find opportunities for teamwork.
The people of Bridge Town weren’t incompetent either; they struck decisively, their personal abilities not weak. Yet, in team collaboration they faltered slightly, possibly due to differing training chanisms from Celestial Horse Island.
With more than thirty individuals, each possessing notable combat prowess, they fiercely fought against over a hundred zombies. The sounds of gasping and grunting accompanied the piercing sounds of thrusts, and suddenly, a tragic cry pierced through.
