After she finished speaking, Wen Mian picked up the bucket of soil and walked over to the empty space that needed to be filled with several layers of soil. Bai Jixuan watched them work hard and didn’t say anything. He had been working hard and finally sat down to take a rest.
Just as he picked up the water bottle to take a sip, he heard the sound of the door opening and Mother Bai walked inside. She was carrying three bowls of beef bone soup and rice. Though it was a simple al, the scent of warm soup and rice made the three people in the room pause and look at the tray that Mother Bai was holding with greedy eyes.
ng Qibao hadn’t eaten anything for more than a week and felt really hungry. He could feel his stomach rumbling at the scent of the beef bone broth and rice, though he and his sister scavenged so supplies with them because of ng Anzhi, who wanted to suck to this and that; those supplies were gone the second they turned their back on their bags.
When they refused to hand those supplies over, ng Anzhi would fight with them and snatch those supplies with the help of others.
But when they ran out of supplies, no one ca to help them. Even those who stole their supplies refused to return anything and ng Anzhi, who had been clamouring for days, also beca quiet. She had been yelling and making a fuss when they refused to hand the supplies to others but when it was their turn, that woman sat still and didn’t say a word.
Because of this, they had to go hungry for days.
Now that they were finally getting a decent al, ng Qibao was so excited that his eyes turned red. Looking at the size of the rice bowl, he had to admit that Bai iyue and her family mbers were really kind. At least they gave them a bowl of rice big enough to make them feel full.
He looked at the warm soup that was steaming hot with a few slices of at and spring onions and gulped hard.
Mother Bai saw that the three of them were hungry and said to them, "Co here; there is no need to work so hard. You can take it easy. Lets eat first, if you want then? You can go ahead and take a nap in one of the apartnts that are empty. You can co back after two hours and start working again."
When she saw that the three of them were hesitating, Mother Bai added, "Don’t worry. My daughter took care of the zombies on the two floors underneath this one. You can go down without a worry."
"Thank you, thank you so much!" Wen Mian bowed and thanked Mother Bai with a voice that was thick with emotions.
Goodness, only she knew how hard the past few days had been on her. Before the apocalypse, even though a few n wanted to make a move, they didn’t dare to because of the law and order. But after the world fell into chaos, so of the n wanted to target her.
Fortunately, Wang Ba and Director Feng protected her well but even then, Wen Mian didn’t dare to close her eyes and sleep peacefully. What if soone took advantage of her?
Now that she knew that she could take a nap peacefully, she was so touched that she thanked Mother Bai profusely.
"Hey, its fine as long as you rember the kindness of my daughter." Mother Bai didn’t say that it was nothing, as she knew that even if her daughter had awakened killing a zombie was not a small matter.
"Of course, of course we will rember it," Wen Mian promised before taking her leave. She took the bowl of rice, which was enough for two or three people to eat and went to look for an apartnt that she could occupy.
ng Suisui and ng Qibao also went after her. They didn’t want to occupy the Bai family when they had nothing to do.
However, as soon as they found a place to stay, ng Suisui a little and then left the apartnt.
"Hey, sister. Where are you going?" ng Qibao called out after his sister, who raised her hand and said, "You start eating; I will return soon."
ng Suisui then walked upstairs and went to look for ng Anzhi. Though she was indeed hurt by ng Anzhi’s actions, she could not forget the kindness her aunt and uncle had shown to her.
With the absence of the two, ng Suisui knew that ng Anzhi was the only one left in their family. Because of this, she couldn’t completely turn a blind eye to ng Anzhi like ng Qibao.
Although the penthouse that Bai Feng owned was big, with so many people crowding inside, it seed close to bursting. When ng Suisui entered the house, she realised that she couldn’t even find a place to put her foot down with so many people squeezed in.
Even though Bai Xue had taken them in her house, it was impossible for her to let these people take over the empty rooms; thus, everyone had to lie down on the floor with sacks or on the carpet.
So people had broken a few pieces of exquisite furniture and started a fire to warm up.
ng Suisui looked around and finally found ng Anzhi trying to hit a chat with a popular actor and pursed her lips. She wondered what was going on inside ng Anzhi’s head. She knew that the world had ended, so why was she still chasing stars?
Though ng Suisui was helpless and annoyed, she still called out to ng Anzhi,
"Anzhi, co here."
Since she couldn’t enter the house, she could only call ng Anzhi to co out.
When ng Anzhi heard her voice, she was a bit annoyed as she felt ng Suisui had disturbed her. However, she still stood up and walked out of the house by using the small path that the people had left on the floor. What she didn’t know was that as soon as her back was turned, the man behind her heaved a sigh of relief.
