"Thats–thats…" Lei Yan pointed at the army of the mutated rats that were rushing out of the potholes and alleys. Even the mutated rat that was attacked by her brother was completely fine as if a countless number of bullets were not aid at it just now.
The giant rat shook its head and charged at their car once again.
Lei Qian controlled the mounted turret again before doing a U-turn and taking another route, as the one that he was driving through was now blocked by giant rats.
"Fuck, what’s going on, brother? How can there be such big rats?" Lei Yan asked while trembling in fear.
"Lei Yan, this is not the ti to wonder about such things!" Lei Qian spoke through gritted teeth and said to his sister, "Look around and find an opening."
As he spoke, he looked at the rearview mirror and was terrified out of his wits when he saw that the giant rats were still chasing their car. Now he understood why there were so many checkpoints before anyone could enter this city.
Lei Yan imdiately looked out of the window and started searching for a way to escape from these rats. She finally saw a path that had only one or two rats and pointed at that path.
"There, brother, drive through that path."
Lei Qian looked in the direction where Lei Yan was pointing and imdiately turned the wheel towards the western side of the city. Compared to the army of mutated rats, he was willing to take on two rats.
As Lei Qian approached the clear road, he shot wildly without paying attention to what and where he was shooting.
However, it was as if the skin of these monstrous rats was made of iron; no matter how many bullets he wasted, the rats were not affected at all. The bullets simply bounced off their fur or got stuck in it.
He drove past the rats that were standing in his path; however, like the rest of the rats, these two monster rats also started to chase after them.
Lei Yan watched the giant rats chasing after their car and burst into tears. "No wonder the officials didn’t want anyone to go in or out of this city. They are trying to suppress this matter."
Father and Mother Lei’s face turned ashen and even Lei Qian’s complexion was ugly. He was furious when he thought about how the governnt was keeping such important news from the citizens and was pretending as if everything was fine.
The Lei family was aware of how serious this situation was; with such hideous monsters, how were they supposed to get out of this city?
Bai iyue, on the other hand, had no idea that Lei Qian’s life was in danger.
She took her vitamins and went to look for Shen Zhen again. Since she had decided to bring Shen Zhen to her side, Bai iyue knew that she needed to be aware of Shen Zhen’s schedule. If she had no idea what and where Shen Zhen would be on the last day of the world, how was Bai iyue going to kidnap her?
Thus, Bai iyue asked around and when she found out that Shen Zhen had no shift on the day when the end of the world would start, Bai iyue frowned and sighed. Looks like she now needed to find the address of Shen Zhen.
She asked around for a while before getting the address of Shen Zhen; she rushed to the small apartnt building where Shen Zhen lived and carefully searched around for an opening that she could use while kidnapping Shen Zhen.
It took her three hours before she could finish scouting the area.
After she was done creating a tentative map of all the routes that she could use to sneak inside the building, Bai iyue turned to leave.
As she slid inside the car, she received a call from her mother, who asked her to co back ho and eat, as it was already way past lunchti.
Bai iyue felt her heart warm up as it was the first ti soone had cared for her. In the past, even when she went without eating for more than two days, no one reminded her that she needed to eat and take care of her body.
All they cared about was whether she had earned enough money or not and, if she had, when she was going to be paid?
Bai iyue returned ho in a few minutes and as soon as she stepped inside, she heard her mother reprimand her for going outside in such terrible weather.
Smiling sheepishly, Bai iyue sat down on the chair beside her eldest nephew, Bai Qian Han.
She looked at the spicy short ribs that were placed in front of him and then looked at the boiled spinach with herbs that was sitting right next to the bowl that had ribs.
However, Bai Qian Han was only eating the boiled spinach but he didn’t touch the short ribs at all.
Seeing this, Bai iyue frowned and picked up a couple of ribs and placed them on top of the rice bowl.
"Why are you only eating vegetables and no at? If you don’t eat properly, then how will you grow as tall as your father?" Bai iyue remarked.
Her words and actions left Bai Qian Han stunned. He raised his head and looked at Bai iyue before getting down from the chair and kneeling right in front of her.
"Auntie, please don’t send us away. I promise that I will be good and won’t do anything to make you angry again."
As he spoke, he pulled his brother Bai Jiuque to kneel with him as well.
When Bai iyue saw her nephews kneeling in front of her, she imdiately jumped off the chair and helped the two boys up.
"What’s the matter with you? Why are you kneeling in front of ?" Bai iyue questioned. Her face was covered in confusion as she turned to look at her mother, who was just as surprised at the actions of her grandsons.
Even she had no idea why Bai Qian Han and Bai Ji Xue suddenly bowed in front of her daughter!
