When they returned, Chu Xia had told them that Yu Miaomiao had taken advantage of their absence and forced them to follow her to base. And when they tried to ask Bai iyue for help, she told them that she was not going to help their family and that their life and death were not related to her at all.
Back then, they were tired and hungry, and with Chu Xia crying her eyes out, they believed her. Lu Jingguo even resented Bai iyue a bit. Why did she have to be so cruel? She could have at least helped Chu Xia and the Bai family. But now, after listening to Bai iyue’s words, they suddenly realised that Chu Xia had played them all for fools.
What did she an by that Bai iyue didn’t help them? If they walked away on their own two feet and used themselves as leverage to control Bai Feng into getting what they wanted, how could Bai iyue help them, and why would she help them?
Compared to Chu Xia, Lu Jingguo trusted Bai iyue more. She was an honest woman. Though harsh and cold, Bai iyue was not a liar; she would never tell lies to stir up trouble, as Bai iyue seed to disdain such antics.
That ant the one who lied was Chu Xia and Bai Xue.
So, Lu Jingguo’s face turned dark as well. Because by sending Bai Feng to Yu Miaomiao, the Bai family had ruined the lives of the other ability users under Bai Feng as well. He turned around and followed Bai Feng. When passing by his sister, who was paying for the crystal nuclei for their team mber’s surgery, he pulled her along.
They had to think of a way to free themselves of Yu Miaomiao’s control, or else they would be swallowed whole, blood and bones.
Bai iyue didn’t care about the feelings that Bai Feng had at that mont. After all, it was his decision to protect the Bai family. Who asked him to stand up for those self-centred leeches? Since he made the choice, he had no other option but to see through them. She had already asked him to make up his mind, but that fool! Argh, he was too filial and too stupid.
Upon returning ho, Bai iyue opened the refrigerator and took out a can of orange juice. Taking a sip of the sugary delight, Bai iyue heaved a sigh of relief. She then walked over to the armchair before taking a seat. With her legs stretched in front of her, Bai iyue looked outside the window.
Ciyi, who was relaxing on the carpet, walked over and jumped over in her lap when she saw Bai iyue sitting down.
With the ball of fluff jumping in her lap, Bai iyue didn’t stop herself from rubbing the soft fur of the pup. She ran her fingers through the thick fur of Ciyi, who started purring.
However, the peaceful mont didn’t last long as Lu Xinran returned. This ti around, she didn’t co alone but with a few ability users. She smiled at Bai iyue and said to her, "Sister Yueyue, my brother sent here to purchase the vegetables and at. He said that he is willing to buy them at the market price, as long as you give us all the stock."
Bai iyue nodded. She smirked inwardly when she thought of how Bai Feng was hit so hard that he was actually going to stoop so low as to make sure that Yu Miaomiao wouldn’t get anything. She then turned to look at her mother, who was standing next to Lu Xinran. As Mother Bai had never t with Lu Xinran, she was eyeing the woman quite suspiciously.
"Yueyue, what’s going on?" Mother Bai asked.
Bai iyue turned and glanced at her mother before saying to her, "It’s nothing. Bai Feng wants to buy all the vegetables, water supply and at that we used to sell to the survivors; hand it all to her. It’s better than giving it all to Yu Miaomiao." The last few days had been harsh on them as Yu Miaomiao kept pushing them to give more and more.
Her mother was running out of patience, and if she was being honest, so was she.
If not for the bigger picture, Bai iyue would have long lost her patience, and sowhere she knew that even if Yu Miaomiao took everything from her, she would have to cough up everything very soon. With that thought in her head, Bai iyue had spent the past few days, if not... she would have certainly lost her mind.
When Mother Bai heard that they could once again sell the supplies, she was really happy. She turned on her feet and brought Lu Xinran to the greenhouse, and allowed the woman and the n who ca with her to pluck the vegetables.
Of course, she protected the precious herbs that her daughter had planted. When soone asked her, she simply told them that the herbs were nothing but a little experint that they were going to do.
These n didn’t have the slightest bit of an idea about dicinal herbs and didn’t take Mother Bai’s words seriously. They continued taking the vegetables out of the greenhouse while Lu Xinran collected the at and the water bottles.
Once they were done collecting, Lu Xinran handed Bai iyue three sacks of crystal nuclei. One could say that they were quite generous!
Bai iyue stared at the sacks of crystal nuclei and nodded before saying to Lu Xinran, "It’s all in order."
"Of course, we are never going to make the mistake of committing fraud with you, Sister Yueyue," said Lu Xinran as she arranged for the n to take the sacks of supplies with them.
As they left, Mother Bai thought that the rest of the day was going to pass in peace. But unfortunately her hopes were dood to dash as around three in the afternoon, the doorbell rang, bringing a storm with it.
