"What do you an by ageing? What kind of power is that?" Bai Zhan turned and asked Bai iyue. Though the sight of the old rat in front of him gave him an idea, he couldn’t help but shudder as he thought about how dangerous this power could be.
Bai iyue shrugged helplessly. She said to her elder brother, "What else? Bai Qian Han can make soone age with just a touch. The longer he holds them, the quicker they will age—if he hadn’t pulled away just now, then I am afraid that he would have killed the rat because it had already gotten so old."
She turned to look at her eldest nephew and said to him, "Qian Han, go on and put the gloves back on your hands. I am afraid that unless you can learn to control that power of yours, you can never take the gloves off. You saw what happens if you touch soone without your gloves on, right?"
These gloves were special gloves that she had exchanged in the barter system; thus, they were quite useful in blocking the powers of her two nephews. Having seen how good they were at their job, Bai iyue trusted these gloves and their material.
She then turned to look at Bai Jiuque, the youngest son of her elder brother. She said to him, "Go and touch the other rat, Jiuque."
Bai Jiuque was emboldened by the success of his elder brother and thus nodded without saying anything. He took one brave step and then another before coming to a stop in front of the mutated rat. Just like his brother, he reached out and touched the mutated rat, but unlike Bai Qian Han’s rat, this one didn’t die silently.
Instead, it started to writhe and turned agitated. His eyes flickered with grave horrors as he turned and twisted to one side and then another.
Seeing this, Bai iyue imdiately pulled Bai Jiuque back and stared at the rat that was close to dying and turned to look at her second nephew.
"Aunt... what did I do?" Bai Jiuque looked up and stared at his aunt with a hint of confusion in his eyes.
"Nothing, just continue wearing the gloves for the ti being. Your powers are rather powerful, and we can only understand them once we are facing zombies," said Bai iyue with a hint of a wince in her voice. She never thought that Bai Jiuque would actually awaken the power of Mist of Gloom.
It was a really painful and powerful ability.
The user could use his powers to create a really powerful veil of mist that first confused his or her prey and then sucked all happiness and hope from their bodies, leaving only horror and terror behind. The depression was so strong that the prey would either turn crazy or kill themselves, for it was that painful to stay alive.
Though this skill was really powerful, only those who wished to be happy desperately and had gone through severe depression would awaken it. Bai iyue never thought that Feng Qing had hurt Bai Jiuque so deeply. If she had known then, she would have killed her even more brutally. Now she felt like she had shown rcy to the woman by letting her die so easily.
As the thought flashed in her head, Bai iyue clenched her teeth, and she turned to look at the two boys before saying to them, "Co, your aunt will give you sothing good to eat."
After she finished speaking, she turned around and walked to the kitchen without saying anything to Bai Zhan, who seed to have sensed sothing and followed her to the kitchen just as the kids cheered, while the other survivors cleaned the corpses of the rats from the penthouse.
"What happened to Jiuque?" Bai Zhan asked quickly when he followed Bai iyue inside the kitchen. With his gaze as stern as possible, he stared at Bai iyue and said to her, "Don’t you dare say that it’s nothing because I know it’s not nothing. So you better tell the truth; he is my son, Yueyue. I have the right to know what is wrong with him."
Bai iyue sighed. She knew that Bai Zhan wouldn’t drop the matter. She said, "There is nothing wrong with him... It’s just that..." She then relayed the gist of Bai Jiuque’s powers to Bai Zhan, and once she finished speaking, Bai Zhan’s eyes turned red. He said to Bai iyue, "It’s all my fault. I knew that my children were suffering, and yet I, for the sake of the so-called peace, ruined them with my own hands."
"You cannot bla yourself for this," said Bai iyue as she patted her brother on the shoulder. "This matter is on Feng Qing; she is the one who ruined her sons. You did everything you could to give your son a loving ho."
After she finished speaking, she sighed. "There is nothing we can do at this point. Just try to spend more ti with your son. The powers that they awakened are really twisted in their own way."
Bai Zhan nodded with reddened eyes and returned to the dining room.
Once Bai Zhan went away, Bai iyue turned her attention back to the stove. As she stared at the burning flas, she wondered if Lei Qian was well and good.
On the other side, once the two sons of Bai Zhan awakened, a flurry of rumours started to fly around the entire building. This was the first ti anyone had heard about children awakening as ability users. Though no one knew what kind of powers the two kids had awakened, they knew one thing —the kids awakened as strong ability users!
Thus, there was a flurry of parents sending their children to fight the zombies. They couldn’t fight the beasts but they wanted their children to fight the monsters.
Which of course led to an uncountable number of deaths.
