"Are you injured?" When Bai iyue returned to the mansion, she ran into Xu Yiyi. The latter had arrived at the mansion to discuss the working conditions of her girls and was quite satisfied with how the people in the mansion didn’t dare to look down at them after Bai iyue passed down the orders that no one could insult her girls. She was quite happy, but after seeing the blood on Bai iyue’s clothes, she was no longer as joyous as she was before. "Where does it hurt?"
"It’s not my blood," sensing that the woman had misunderstood, Bai iyue corrected her. She then relayed everything that happened to Xu Yiyi, who clicked her tongue in annoyance. "They really don’t know how to appreciate good things. Isn’t it good enough that we get a place to stay and live a proper life? Why go to such lengths and for what?" Xu Yiyi couldn’t understand why these n couldn’t have just lived their lives like they were living at the mont. Why take such unnecessary risks?
Bai iyue shook her head. "These risks might be foolish in your eyes, but those with great ambitions will think that these risks are what they should take to climb higher."
"What about the bodies? Are you going to throw them in front of those man-eating bushes?" Xu Yiyi asked with a tilt of her head, and Bai iyue arched a brow. Though many were aware of the fact that the bushes ate animals and mutated bugs, only a few knew that they could even eat a human body.
But Xu Yiyi seed to know more than the rest.
Maybe Xu Yiyi sensed what Bai iyue was thinking; she rolled her eyes. "Do you think my life here is comfortable? There are many n who co to cause trouble for all the ti. I just wanted to ditch a body at the outskirts, who would have expected that those bushes would attack the body upon sensing the sll of blood?"
"So you killed soone?"
"Not anyone of importance. You will thank for taking care of that bastard." XuYiyi didn’t seem like she was regretful over the fact that she had killed soone. She seed calm and collected, as if it was nothing new for her.
Bai iyue arched a brow. No wonder this woman was able to climb so high in her past life. She was not hesitant to kill when necessary and knew when to pull back and please soone. She was smart and surprisingly quite witty. She even managed to deal with a body without letting anyone find out.
"What are you doing here? Ca to see your girls?" Even though Bai iyue understood what the woman had done, she still didn’t bother to question her about who this man was and what he did. He must have done sothing that reversed Xu Yiyi’s scale because the woman wouldn’t have killed him.
"Otherwise, what else can I do at this point?" Xu Yiyi rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms over her bosom. "You stopped from taking any custors, and the price that you have set is so high that no one is willing to co to our place. I can only co here and see what my girls are doing and if they are being treated right or not. Other than that, what else can I do now?"
"You can always pick one of the jobs that I assigned to your girls—"
"Do you have any play area where I can play mahjong, chess or sothing?" Before Bai iyue could say anything more, Xu Yiyi questioned her, causing her to close her eyes and take in a shallow breath.
"There are a few chess and mahjong areas created for the elderly living here. You can always go there and play with them if you want to."
"Oh, you never played with them?" Xu Yiyi asked as Bai iyue started walking toward the inside of her mansion.
"No. I cannot sit long." Bai iyue glanced at the woman and replied calmly. "How can I even think about playing mahjong and chess in my condition?" Those gas were a headache for her to begin with. Now that she was pregnant, Bai iyue couldn’t even think about sitting down for long hours and having a round of chess.
"Ah, of course." Xu Yiyi looked at Bai iyue’s big belly and clicked her tongue. "I have to say only soone of your calibre would take such a big risk, such as giving birth to a child at tis like these. If there were soone else, they would have aborted this child long ago. But then again, there are all kinds of people in this world. I an, who would make such sacrifices? Certainly not ." And though she said that, Bai iyue could see the longing in her eyes.
Bai iyue sighed. She wondered if she should start working on the pregnancy pills. The information for that pill was transferred to her mind long ago. However, she had never paid attention to it, as she had never needed it. But maybe she could try to make one for Xu Yiyi, this hard-mouthed and soft-hearted person.
Xu Yiyi turned around and walked away, not wanting to stay with the woman, who made her heart burn with anger, any longer.
She was the only one who would dare to treat Bai iyue in such a manner. If it were soone else, they would have never dared to turn their back on Bai iyue. However, Xu Yiyi was not just soone. Bai iyue watched her leave and shook her head before spinning on her feet and heading inside the mansion.
"Where did that blood co from?" As soon as she walked inside the mansion, Old Master Bai, who was talking with Yan Wanning, jumped to his feet and rushed toward Bai iyue. He clasped hold of her arms and assessed her from top to bottom. "Oh my god, are you hurt?" The way he looked at Bai iyue was as if she was his family and it confused Bai iyue to core.
