On the other side,
"Are you sure that this pill can help get pregnant, Miss Bai?" Nanny An asked with her trembling fingers, clutching the pill that Bai iyue had given her. The round, luminous pill had a subtle pinkish hue to it.
Bai iyue glanced at the emotional woman and reached out to take the pill from her. She said, "If you do not believe , then you can give the pill back, Nanny An. I am not asking you to test it—"
But before Bai iyue could take the pill from the woman, Nanny An took it back and said hurriedly, "Who said that I am not going to take it? I was just ...asking. I an, it’s really unbelievable to think that I can finally have a child; it was always my dream to beco a mother."
Nanny An didn’t know how to tell Bai iyue what this pill ant for her. All these years, she had been listening to her mother-in-law taunting her about how she had bewitched her son and wouldn’t let him take a concubine while failing to live up to the expectations. Nanny An, of course, hadn’t done such a thing. She had asked Albert to bring a mistress countless tis, but the man had refused. Quoting that she married him when he had nothing and was just a poor scholar. How could he betray her years of silent loyalty by bringing another concubine?
Nanny An was touched by the words that her husband said to her, but at the sa ti, she was disappointed in herself. How could she not, when even after seeing all kinds of doctors and physicians, she couldn’t get pregnant?
Because of continuous disappointnts, she and her husband had almost given up on the idea of ever becoming parents. Even when her husband continuously told her that he was alright without a child and didn’t bla her, Nanny An blad herself. However, just because she was feeling guilty doesn’t an that the heavens were going to listen to her. She was ignored even though she had begged the heavens again and again.
Now that she had finally received so good news, how could Nanny An not be emotional?
Bai iyue understood her feelings, so she didn’t say anything and let the woman take a mont to collect herself. Once Nanny An had cald down a little, Bai iyue parted her red lips and said to her, "If you are willing, then we can talk about this barter once you have conceived?"
To her surprise, Nanny An shook her head and said to her in a soft voice, "There is no need, Miss Bai. My mother has taught to trust my doctor. She told that if I had asked soone to treat , then I needed to trust them, and if I didn’t trust them, I shouldn’t ask them to treat ."
She raised her hand and gulped down the pill before saying to Bai iyue, "I will confirm the barter exchange."
A second later, she pulled out a badge that had ’little chef’ written on it. When Bai iyue saw the badge, she frowned and asked, "What is this?"
"This is sothing that my husband created when he was still a student," explained Nanny An with a smile. She knew what Bai iyue was thinking and said to her, "I know that this badge looks like it is nothing special, but that is not the case. As long as you pin this badge, I assure you that there is not a single dish that you cannot make."
Bai iyue was about to say that she didn’t need it, but then she thought about how little she knew about cooking and how it was always Lei Qian who was cooking for her, and she couldn’t do anything to repay him. After a short pause, she sighed and took the badge. Anyway, she didn’t take on this case because she wanted sothing from Nanny An. She simply wanted to help a woman in need.
"Then I will thank you," said Nanny An, her eyes brightening when she saw Bai iyue accepting the barter. She got to her feet and bowed in front of Bai iyue and praised her, "You are really kind, Miss Bai."
Bai iyue didn’t say anything. She simply got to her feet and remarked in a hard voice, "I am not kind... I simply pity you." Just as she pitied her past self. She couldn’t save herself and her child in the past, so she chose to save Nanny An instead.
Once she was done with the barter exchange, Bai iyue turned and stepped out of the bartering space. However, as soon as she stepped out of the barter space, she found herself staring at a small vine that was knocking on the window of her floor. With just one glance, she knew that this was Wan Guofu. She walked over to the window and tapped on it to show that she was fine. She didn’t want Lei Qian to worry about her, especially when she didn’t know what kind of condition he was in at the mont.
She waved her hand at the vine before walking back to the couch, where Shen Zhen and ng Suisui had prepared a bed for her. Bai iyue then took out the fresh sea bass that she had packed in her space bag and turned to look at ng Suisui, who was standing at the door with her mouth hanging open.
"There is no need to be shocked. I have another ability—space ability." Bai iyue explained and then handed the fish to ng Suisui before saying to her, "Go and prepare this sea bass."
ng Suisyi took the sea bass from her and, with her mouth still agape, went to look for Shen Zhen. She was not good at cooking, as ng Suisui was more proficient in working and could only make so simple dishes; she had no idea how to prepare a sea bass. So—
"What is this?"
