Even Bai iyue turned to look at her brother and said to him, "Even if the army cos to rescue the people, they would be forced to save the important figures first, and then they would be sent to collect supplies for these figures. The citizens would be saved after the officials have settled. If we wait for soone to rescue us, then we will only be waiting for death."
Though Bai iyue had stockpiled a lot of supplies, including the dry food, she was not going to tell this to her family. Bai iyue knew that if she told her family about the supplies, they would never step out of the house and wouldn’t let her leave either. But could they survive by locking themselves in the house?
It was better to face reality sooner than later. Instead of waiting for soone to rescue them, they needed to beco their own saviour. Only after facing the desperation for not having enough supplies would her family pick up their weapons and fight.
Which was important as building one’s stamina and coping ability helped one to awaken as a supernatural being. And fighting zombies was the only way to do it.
Of course, she didn’t want her family to charge ahead of her and collect nuclei. She could do it on her own; after all, this was what she owed them. Nor did she want them to go with the hunting teams to collect supplies. She could do these things on her own.
But she didn’t want them to hide their heads under the ground like ostriches when trouble cos knocking.
Bai iyue didn’t want the past to repeat itself; thus, she wanted her family to co to terms with reality as soon as possible.
Hiding was impossible.
"Then—then what will we do?" Bai Jixuan asked nervously.
"What else? We need to go out and hunt for supplies," she paused when she saw the look of horror on her brother’s face. "Don’t worry, I t these n eating monsters just now when I was returning ho. They are not that strong at the mont. All you need to do is smash their heads open and take the nuclei from the inside of their heads. You will be fine as long as you break their heads."
"Break…their heads?" Bai Jixuan gulped heavily. Even the thought alone was enough to make him throw up his dinner. How would he smash the heads of these monsters?
"Brother, you cannot hide in the house," stated Bai iyue without showing him any rcy. Even if these words of hers might hurt her family, she couldn’t let them live in delusion that the army would co and save them. "We don’t have enough supplies; if we don’t go out, what will we do without food or water?"
"But these monsters—"
"You have to fight them anyway. So, you might as well do it sooner."
Bai Jixuan’s face turned completely pale and he turned to look at his elder brother.
However, Bai Zhan didn’t even look at him. He was lost in his own thoughts. Even though they did not step out of the penthouse, they could hear the low roars and the screams of people coming from outside.
The more he thought, the more he felt that Bai iyue was right. They could not stay in the penthouse all their lives, could they?
He nodded and said to Bai iyue, "I will go with you to hunt the supplies."
"Brother—"
"Ah Zhan—"
"Mom, Jixuan," Bai Zhan raised his head and stopped them from speaking. "Yueyue is right. We don’t have enough supplies; staying inside the house would only deplete the supplies and without us getting new supplies, it will only beco an even problem for us."
"So we might as well take the risk."
Mother Bai wanted to refuse but there was no point in doing so. She also understood what her daughter and son were trying to tell her but as their mother, how could she watch them leave the house and fight those n eating monsters?
"Mom, don’t worry," Bai iyue comforted her mother. "We promise that we will co back safe and sound."
Bai iyue could understand the anxiety of her mother; after all, she was once a mother as well. Back then, when she left the base, Bai iyue also felt really worried about the safety of her son.
But her mother couldn’t protect them all their lives, and they would not be able to survive if Mother Bai continued to coddle them.
Seeing that his eldest brother had agreed, Bai Jixuan had no choice but to agree. He couldn’t stay at ho like a coward, could he?
"You all—" Mother Bai was anxious and angry but she couldn’t lose her temper on them either. Because they were not saying anything unreasonable.
Ding Ding.
The sound of the doorbell echoed in the house and Bai iyue frowned. She had changed the lock of the main gate of her corridor because she did not want anyone to co looking for her. But even after changing the lock, these people were still bothering her.
Fortunately, she asked her brother to change the locks of both the doors on either side of the corridor.
"I will go and take a look," said Bai Zhan but he was stopped by Bai iyue, who raised her hand and said to him, "Let . Probably they ca to look for because of the supplies."
She was the one who brought the trouble ho, then she would be the one taking care of it. As she left, she did not forget to take her bloodied dagger with her.
Though she stopped Bai Zhan, he couldn’t sit still and followed Bai iyue out in the corridor.
Bai iyue headed to the door that was at the end of the corridor and tapped the code for the door to open. As soon as the door swung open, Bai iyue found herself standing face-to-face with Manager Ni and Fang Qing.
They were followed by a bunch of onlookers.
