Li Yu looked at him and said, "Rest up first, we can talk about other matters after you’re better."
Hearing this, Ju Tianrui nodded and replied, "Mhm, okay. I’ll talk to you next ti."
Although Ju Tianrui didn’t reveal anything, Li Yu guessed he probably knew what he wanted to say.
They had co all the way from Juzi Island to Big Camphor Tree, surely with so arrangents in mind. They didn’t know what the Big Camphor Tree Base had in store for them, so wanting to chat with Li Yu was understandable.
But right now, there was no rush.
Currently, both had a common enemy: Gan Shang and his people.
With the extre weather conditions, Gan Shang and his followers wouldn’t be foolish enough to send people out looking for trouble, which would be tantamount to suicide.
Moreover, as Dong Tai had just ntioned, they shook off their pursuers on the way over, so Li Yu was already aware of the current situation.
In Juzi Island, Gan Shang likely didn’t know that Ju Tianrui and his group had arrived in Xin City, let alone at Big Camphor Tree Base.
Therefore, the threat from Gan Shang was not urgent.
Right now, the greatest imdiate problems they faced were the darkness, the incoming acid rain, and the Zombie Tide.
...
Juzi Island.
After sunlight was blocked by volcanic ash, a riot started in the South District refugee camp.
Gunshots continued for quite a long ti.
Gan Shang’s face was ashen as he looked at a pile of corpses in front of him, seething with anger.
Just now, a group of three or four refugees took advantage of the darkness to circle around to the back. Luckily, Hai Chao reacted swiftly, opening fire and killing them, which prevented their success.
In this mont of conflict,
almost nine out of ten refugees in the South District were dead. The remaining ones kneeled and surrendered. So quick-thinking individuals, seeing the situation turn sour, directly ran back to hide in the South District refugee camp.
The incident happened abruptly. There wasn’t much isolation or protection between the North and South Districts. Plus, the group of refugees taking advantage of the darkness to create chaos still caused so losses to Gan Shang’s side.
Over a dozen people were overwheld by the surge of refugees, causing six or seven casualties, and seven or eight were seriously injured, having been harshly struck with bricks and clubs.
"Boss, what do we do with these remaining dozens of people?" Hai Chao hesitated before asking.
A sharp glint appeared in Gan Shang’s eyes as he said, "Gather them up first, and assign so n to guard them. Damn it, these lunatics."
Then he instructed Hai Chao, "Toss these corpses outside the wall, the stench of blood is too strong, and now that it’s dark, it will easily attract Zombies."
Hai Chao nodded and called others to carry the corpses out.
One by one, the corpses were gaunt, skin and bones, with festering skin. They were neither human nor ghost in appearance.
Suddenly, as two n were just about to throw the corpses outside the wall, they saw so shadows in the distance.
The volcanic ash had blocked the sunlight, making it difficult for them to see clearly.
The shadows flowed like a black river.
Curiosity piqued, soone switched on the flashlight’s long beam.
On seeing this,
he was utterly terrified.
"Zom, Zom, Zombies, so many Zombies," he exclaid.
In the light, a large group of Zombies was rushing toward them.
But these Zombies were sowhat different from those they rembered before; their skin seed to have beco smoother.
Devoid of any hair, with pale epidermis, it seed as if you could see the skeletons underneath.
These Zombies had incredibly strong adaptability. In the high temperatures, not only did they not die but adapted and survived. Their skin was hairless, with shiny bald heads, and gaping mouths opened wide looked terrifyingly grotesque.
The person next to him, who also witnessed this scene, felt his legs weaken and almost fell off the wall.
Having a narrow escape, he looked fearfully at the Zombies and said, "We need to tell the boss right away, the Zombies are coming!"
They had fought Zombies before, but facing these never-before-seen types, the unknown made them fearful.
"Let’s go!" Another without hesitation imdiately pushed the corpses they had carried up and over the wall.
Three minutes later.
Gan Shang and Hai Chao hurriedly ran to the wall, and seeing these bald Zombies, they were sowhat puzzled and uncertain.
The Zombies were fast and reached a spot less than twenty ters from them in no ti.
Hai Chao shone his flashlight on one of the Zombies, observing carefully, and began to assess aloud:
"The outer horny layer of the epidermis has peeled off, covered with a white mucous mbrane, purpose unknown.
All the hair has fallen off, the shape is smooth.
Running speed is comparable to that in the rain.
..."
As he spoke, his expression beca increasingly grave.
He quickly shouted to the brothers around him: "Prepare to defend against the Zombies!"
The Zombies surged forth.
They imdiately pounced on the corpses that were just thrown down from the wall and started tearing at them.
Amidst the howling, the bodies they had just discarded were quickly devoured.
These Zombies were extrely ferocious, possibly because the weather had been overly hot and they had not eaten for a long ti, resulting in unbearable hunger.
Bang Bang Bang—
Hai Chao shot at the Zombies!
The bullets instantly pierced through the Zombies’ epidermis and penetrated their bodies.
So bullets hit the Zombies’ chests, which continued as normal, causing no harm.
But so bullets hit their heads, and those Zombies hit in the head instantly fell to the ground motionless.
