Western Alliance.
Gan Xiong, Zhou Zhisheng, and Liu Cunyi all had smiles on their faces.
Wayne, standing to the side, watched as the three of them displayed sincere and forthright smiles, feeling a pang of disgust in his heart.
Just monts ago, the three of them were at each other’s throats, but now they were saying goodbye like old friends.
A mutual understanding and admiration.
"Well, that’s it then, Director Gan, we’re preparing to set off now. The landscape may remain unchanged, but the waters will flow forever; we shall et again," Liu Cunyi felt the conversation had reached its end and stood up to bid farewell to Gan Xiong.
Zhou Zhisheng also cupped his hands in a gesture of departure.
Gan Xiong wouldn’t stop the two of them; it would be even better if they could leave quickly.
In fact, Gan Xiong didn’t think that after these two families left, things would be any better for them.
The weather was getting colder by the day, leaving the safe Western Alliance at this ti was akin to seeking death.
Building a base is not such a simple task.
Back when they built this Western Alliance, it was during warr weather, and it consud so much manpower and resources to construct.
Given the current cold weather, building a base under the threat of Zombies would be exceedingly difficult for them.
He could already envision the scene where the Zhou and Liu families disappeared from this world completely.
Upon hearing their decision to leave, Gan Xiong seized the opportunity and said, "Alright, I won’t see you off then, to avoid unnecessary sadness. I’ll miss you both, you know.
Wayne, see them off, and later collect the properties of both families as well."
Hearing the boss speak, Wayne stood beside the two and gestured for them to proceed, sending them off.
The two exchanged a glance and then walked towards the door.
Gan Xiong watched as they left, and after they had gone, muttered to himself, "Insisting on a dead-end road, then so be it—if you’re going to go, then just go."
Looking at the seats where Liu Cunyi and Zhou Zhisheng had just sat, Gan Xiong found himself in a daze.
Suddenly, sothing seed odd to him.
"Why insist on a dead-end road? There was evident joy after they were given approval, could it be... could it be that they have sothing to fall back on?"
"What on earth could it be?"
Gan Xiong walked to the door and said to the guard standing there, "Go and call Old Zhuang over."
"Yes, boss," the young guard replied.
Then he hurriedly went to find Old Zhuang.
....
A few minutes later, Old Zhuang hurried over.
Seeing Gan Xiong standing by the window, Old Zhuang knocked on the door and then approached.
"Boss, you called ," Old Zhuang said.
With his hands clasped behind his back, Gan Xiong watched Zhou Zhisheng and the others who had already gone far away outside the window and said in a low voice, "In a mont, take so people and follow them. See where exactly they’re going? Watch what they do once they leave here. Make sure to keep up with them, don’t lose them. I can’t shake the feeling that this matter isn’t as simple as it seems."
Old Zhuang looked at Gan Xiong in disbelief, and after a while, said, "Boss, they’re really leaving? Have they gone mad, leaving at a ti like this?"
Gan Xiong nodded and said, "That’s the point; where are they going after leaving? Go track them. Now hurry and get ready; they’re setting off soon, you need to be quick."
Old Zhuang was filled with countless questions, but he knew now was not the ti to ask any; the boss had just been patient enough to explain, and ti was pressing, so he had to hurry with preparations.
So he nodded, then withdrew.
After Old Zhuang left, only then did Gan Xiong’s mood settle.
....
Following behind Wayne, Zhou Zhisheng, and Liu Cunyi could no longer hide the joy on their faces.
If Wayne weren’t in front of them now, they wouldn’t have been able to resist high-fiving each other in celebration.
It wasn’t easy, but finally, they could leave this godforsaken place.
This was the heartfelt sentint of the two.
Standing at the gate of the Zhou family’s small courtyard, Wayne said with a stern face, "Mr. Zhou, I’ll need you to wait a mont. I need to verify that your family’s properties are all accounted for first."
Then he turned to Liu Cunyi and said, "Mr. Liu, I won’t see you back; later I’ll co over to check your family’s properties."
Zhou Zhisheng and Liu Cunyi’s expressions changed slightly.
Zhou Zhisheng said, "Rest assured, since I’ve promised, I will keep my word. Go ahead."
Liu Cunyi also spoke up, "Alright, I’ll be waiting for you to co and inspect."
Then Wayne signaled to a dozen or so of his n nearby.
The dozen people imdiately ran over.
Wayne followed Zhou Zhisheng into the Zhou family’s courtyard.
Just upon entering the courtyard, there were five large trucks parked, with dozens more vehicles behind them.
These vehicles were packed to the brim, so packages even placed on the rooftops, tightly tied and secured with ropes.
It sowhat resembled the feeling of traveling ho by bus during the New Year’s Spring Festival before Doomsday.
Wayne took one look and then turned away, heading toward the Zhou family’s food factory area.
In the distance, the mbers of the Zhou family, seeing Zhou Zhisheng returned, looked at him with extre anxiety.
But the next second, they saw Wayne following close behind, and their hearts skipped a beat.
Soon, they saw Wayne heading towards their food factory and instantly understood that the Gan Family had allowed them to leave.
But without Zhou Zhisheng’s verbal confirmation, they didn’t dare to be certain.
It wasn’t until Zhou Zhisheng, beside Wayne, gave a slight nod, that they were certain they could leave!!
