Now reading: Chapter 946: Stability from Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy, a Fantasy novel by xlntz.

The Elental Arts Faction was known for studying the fundantal forces of nature, but few would dare to research such an unstable and unpredictable region like this...

"Brave souls..." Vale comnted as he could tell that if they made a mistake in their calculations, there would be a huge chance for them to get killed from the unstable region.

One of the Arcanists, an older man with silver streaks in his hair, adjusted his glasses and turned to his companions.

"Careful with those asurents. The energy fluctuations are highly volatile. If we miscalculate, we could cause a localized collapse."

As soon as Vale heard this, he imdiately confird that his guess was right.

A younger Arcanist, a woman with red hair, sighed.

"I don’t understand how you’re so calm, Master Ron. This place is a deathtrap."

Ron gave her a look. "Which is precisely why we’re here. The Abyssal Rift is unlike anything else on the continent. If we can stabilize it, or at least understand the chanics behind its instability, we could prevent similar disasters in the future. Who knows... We might even learn so space-type spells."

Everyone chuckled at that since it was such wishful thinking. They all knew it requires certain talent to do that after all.

They may have various records of space-type Spell Models but they have to reach a certain level or enhancent within their bodies to accommodate such special Spell Models.

Another mber of the group, a tall man with gray eyes, looked around cautiously. "We’re not alone."

The group tensed as soon as he said this.

This Arcanist was a half-human and half-rfolk... He had been saved from a Dark Arts Practitioner’s experint table. His senses were on a different level compared to normal Elental Arcanists.

Vale smirked slightly, impressed by the man’s intuition.

Deciding that further secrecy was unnecessary, he stepped forward, allowing his presence to be known. He didn’t use his Shadow Cloak or anything that would obscure his appearance.

Imdiately, the five Arcanists turned toward him, their hands subtly moved to ready spells.

However, as soon as their eyes landed on him, their expressions shifted to shock and reverence. They had known his appearance.

"Shadow Immortal..." Ron whispered as he lowered his hands in a sign of respect. The others quickly followed, bowing their heads slightly.

They had no idea why the Shadow Immortal was here. Nonetheless, they were sure it was him because his face had appeared in various newspapers. There was no way they would miss that.

Vale nodded at them calmly. "I wasn’t expecting to see the Elental Arts Faction here," he said. "What exactly do you intend to do with the Abyssal Rift?"

Ron straightened his posture as his scholarly deanor returned. It seed that this topic excited him for a bit.

The other Arcanists notice this as they smiled while looking at their Master.

"Ahem... Our goal is research, nothing more. The instability of this region is a rare phenonon. We believe it is connected to the fundantal balance between elental and abyssal forces." There was more to it but he recalled that he talking to the Shadow Immortal. He didn’t want to sound too excited and overshare the information that the Immortal must already be aware of.

Vale folded his arms.

"You plan to study it? Or do you plan to fix it?"

Ron hesitated. "If we can find a way to stabilize it, then yes. But at this stage, we don’t have the ans. The sheer disorder of the Arcane Energy here is beyond anything we’ve seen before."

Vale looked toward the area where the rift was at its peak. In that area, the land seed to twist and shift like liquid despite being solid.

It would be dangerous even for him if he got too close. He had to at least use various techniques to ensure that his body wouldn’t get twisted by the instability of the surroundings.

’At the very least, it doesn’t look like it would get bigger.’ Vale thought.

Nonetheless, he still sent his Divine Sense to inspect the surroundings. After all, the rift was previously connected to the Abyss Realm. He wanted to ensure that it would no longer be used to reconnect to that Realm.

After a few monts, his Divine Sense gave so feedback to him...

"It’s not as bad as I thought... Although this level of instability suggests a lingering connection to the Abyss, it would be too difficult for them to reconnect with it" Vale mused. "However, if the rift was forced open once from our side, the remnants of that energy might still be trying to re-establish the connection."

The young woman, the red-haired Arcanist, shuddered. "You an this place could open another Abyssal Rift?"

"Unlikely..." Vale replied. "Unless soone deliberately expanded this... Of course, I might be wrong since even without intervention, it might expand, and that would be just as catastrophic."

Vale said as he couldn’t really tell the future.

Ron nodded solemnly as this was also the concern of the Order of the Lore Hunters.

"That’s what we feared. But we don’t have the capability to do anything more than study it."

Vale turned back to the shifting landscape... "I might."

The Elental Arcanists exchanged glances. Ron hesitated before speaking again. "Shadow Immortal, if you do find a way to stabilize it... would you be willing to share your findings with us?"

Vale looked at him, considering.

He had little reason to share knowledge carelessly, but stabilizing this region would be for the benefit of all. In any case, this was his main reason for coming here. He didn’t want another Abyss Invasion to happen under his watch.

Besides, there was always the possibility that the Elental Arts Faction could provide insight that he hadn’t considered yet.

"I will do what I must," Vale finally said. "Stay out of my way, and observe from a distance. Do not interfere."

Ron bowed. "Understood."

Without another word, Vale advanced deeper into the Abyssal Rift....
