Morlin and Sylverith’s comnt went largely unnoticed, or at least I’d expect so reaction from the royal family if they knew we were about to have Alira visit us.

Everyone continued to eat their desserts, with Liane getting a second small tart for Lily and herself, and it was only interrupted by the sound of bells.

This did catch the attention of the royals, as Marcus leapt to his feet.

“Alarms! The city is under attack!” he called.

I was surprised to see armour appear on the man almost instantly. I had not seen an ability to do that before, as he was now wearing polished, shining red plate armour. The door to the dining room burst open as the familiar figure of Liam appeared, dressed head to toe in full armour.

“Your Majesty, there appears to—”

Sylverith stood up, talking to everyone’s mind, which spoke over all other noise.

“Calm yourself, it’s Alira. She’ll make a fiery entrance, I’m sure; she always does. Just don’t get in her way.”

Marcus sputtered. “The phoenix? Here?”

“Yes, dear,” Sylverith smiled.

“We’re not ready? We’ve not prepared any offerings!” Marcus sounded almost panicked.

I couldn’t help but find it amusing watching what should have been the most powerful man in the kingdom panicking over not having offerings to Alira, who will most likely ignore everyone anyway if her last visit was anything to go by.

“I really don’t think offerings will be necessary,” I said.

“It says in our tos that the last ti the phoenix visited, it requested treasures and gifts on every visit, or it’ll never return,” Kathrine said very seriously.

It was Sylverith who broke the mood, laughing loudly. “It’s her, not it dear, and Alira will be fine without you showering her with gifts this ti; you have commissioned a grand statue after all by one of her new favourite elentals.”

A voice appeared in my head as Sylverith spoke directly to . “Be careful, young Trevor. Their classes rest upon the view that Alira is almost a god. Destroying that belief could drastically alter their class.”

I had not considered this aspect at all, so with a nod, I didn’t push it any further.

My concern, however, turned to the presence of Alira herself. I vividly rember the aura she put out on her visit to Dunhearth. It even rendered people such as Liam and the party unable to move, and I doubt everyone was ready for that. I was especially worried about Clifford and his wife, Valorie.

“Her aura was particularly strong when she visited before. I think it’s best we give those who are unprepared for it ti to leave,” I suggested, watching Liam at the doorway nodding in agreent.

Hari nodded as a serious look ca over him, as he moved over to speak with Darren, Micca and George.

“Clifford, Valorie, you’re by all ans welco to stay, but I will warn you Alira’s aura is very strong, far stronger than Lily’s unless she’s really trying,” I explained.

I heard a huff behind , clearly coming from Lily, who disagreed with my assessnt.

Clifford bowed. “Thank you, Sir Trevor. We will absolutely take our leave. I want to thank you for this amazing al.”

Crisplet burst over and appeared to be conveying a ssage to Sylverith as a flash of images burnt like a rapid wave in front of him.

“Crisplet is worried about you as well, but insists that you remain and present the statue together,” Sylverith said.

“I’m sorry, Crisplet, my wife,” Clifford said with concern in his eyes.

“Perhaps we can assist there,” Micca smiled.

“We’re heading to the sunroom. The distance should make it safer, as it did in the inn. You’re welco to wait with us,” Micca offered.

“But my husband,” Valorie looked back at Clifford.

“He’ll be safe, I promise,” I said, not knowing exactly how I’d manage it, but I pushed my thoughts to Sylverith, knowing she’d hear them.

“Are you able to protect him at all?” I asked.

Sylverith nodded, her voice responded in my head. “It will be fine. She is able to tone it down, just chooses not to out of habit.”

Clifford didn’t look too convinced by it, but after a nod to his wife and a hug, he sat back down, while Valorie left the room, following Micca, Darren and George.

“Archie, could you please ensure there are no house staff too close? I don’t want to rehire again tomorrow,” I said with a nervous laugh.

Archie bowed. “It’s already been done, sir.”

“Well, we best head outside or the entire city guard will be in a panic and rushing here,” Marcus said, clear command in his voice.

Walking outside, I followed behind the royal family, all of them now wearing very formal-looking armour, even Elijah and Luis. I was joined by Crisplet and Sylverith, with most of the group choosing to stay inside. Even Lily didn’t bother coming out, staying inside with Huling.

The night sky was lit up like daylight as you could see a giant ball of burning fire approaching the city. If I had not witnessed this in Dunhearth, I would have been far more concerned.

The alarm bells in the city rang loudly, but the courtyard in front of my house only had a small handful of the King’s best guards; the wards likely kept out far more from entering.

“Will the wards stop Alira?” I asked Sylverith.

“No, she’s unfortunately far too powerful for the quick wards I put up,” Sylverith smiled.

There was a silence in the group as we waited, but we didn’t have to wait long before the fireball lit up the sky directly above us, and would have been impossible for anyone in the capital to miss, especially with the bells ringing. Marcus sent two of his personal guards off to stop the bells, but so far they had not been successful.

As the ball got closer, Crisplet’s tree statue visibly brightened, the leaves rained sparks, and you could visibly see fire coursing through the core of the tree below the bark made of ash and charcoal.

Then she landed, looking exactly the sa as the last ti I saw her: a young lady with a dress made purely of fire, vivid red hair, and eyes that were just pupils surrounded by fla. Her skin was not smooth but covered in fine feathers made of fire, as she had a grin on her face.

“Sylvy!” she squeaked, rushing forward.

Several of the guards dropped to a knee, but impressively everyone else managed to stay upright. I thought for sure that Luis or Elijah would struggle, though I had to hold back a laugh. As the royal family bowed, they were completely ignored.

After greeting Sylverith, her attention next went to Crisplet, who had been standing proudly next to Clifford, who was visibly struggling to stand up but still managing to do so.

“Alira dear, tone down your aura. We have so people who are not used to your intensity here tonight,” I heard Sylverith say as she was rushing over.

Kneeling on the ground, she appeared to be in conversation again with Crisplet, who was letting off the occasional burst of sparks, followed by a couple of flashes of images that vanished as fast as they ford.

Though we couldn’t hear the topic of their conversation, it clearly turned to the statue outside the palace, as she looked up to Clifford, who was visibly shaking at this point but still standing.

“You helped create a statue of ?” she asked.

Clifford got out a nod. I couldn’t feel the pressure, but the guards who were on one knee managed to stand up, while the royal family were still standing together in awe, just watching.

“I will have a look at it shortly! Hello Trevor, you’ve been taking such good care of Crisplet. Thank you!” she said with a grin.

“Now, who do we have here?” She finally turned her attention to the royals.

“I’m rather surprised you don’t recognise them,” Sylverith laughed.

Alira looked confused for a mont, clearly inspecting them before noticing the symbol on their armour. “Oh, is that ?” she squeaked happily.

“Lira dear, their class is based on you, and the gift you gave their ancestor,” Sylverith said with a clear grin on her face.

“Oh him! I rember. Wow, you’re his descendants then,” she said, getting closer.

“Lily is rather jealous that the system gives them classes related to you, while she doesn’t have any,” Sylverith added with a laugh.

This earned a giant grin from Alira. “Where is that moody cat anyway?”

“Inside eating still, I believe, along with my party,” I said.

The King spoke up for the first ti since her arrival. “It’s an honour to et you, great phoenix.”

Alira just waved them off. “We’ll talk later, fire descendant. Don’t worry. I ca because it felt like a god had entered the world.”

She looked directly at Sylverith.

“Not quite. Oris accepted an offering from Crisplet and Trevor, but her action in doing so released that mana pulse you clearly sensed,” Sylverith explained simply.

“Please co inside. It’s far more comfortable,” I said, gesturing towards the door.

It was only now that she seed to take in her surroundings. First the house, before spying the statue of Lily on the roof where it had been reinforced with stone. Turning around, she really took in the tree before dashing forward.

“Is that !” she said happily.

Crisplet let off a burst of sparks.

“It’s amazing!” she squeaked.

“Wait until you see the one at the palace then,” I chuckled.

“I can’t wait, and I will have a look tonight before I leave,” Alira said, turning back to the house after inspecting the tree.

“So this is your house then, young Trevor,” she said, getting closer.

I nodded. “Yes, it is, though if I could ask, please don’t burn the floor. I don’t want to make Archie’s job any harder than it needs to be.”

There was a mischievous smirk on her face. “I won’t.”

It wasn’t until we made our way inside that I really understood the effect her aura had on people, as the King and Queen followed Sylverith, along with Kathrine, but Luis, Elijah, Clifford and Archie were all essentially frozen in place.

It wasn’t until Alira walked away that they seed to finally get a hold of themselves.

Helping Archie, I muttered, “You don’t need to follow us to the dining room if the pressure is too much.”

“It’s fine, sir. Just a little bit of extra training required is all,” Archie bowed slightly.

I heard Luis mutter out a “That was intense,” which Elijah was quick to agree with.

Not wanting to be left behind, and after I made sure they were all still okay, I made my way inside, noticing despite asking not to burn the floor, there were still slight char marks on the floor. But they were all standing in front of the statue of Sylverith.

“…You’ve captured it brilliantly, Crisplet!” Alira was saying. I had missed the first part of the conversation, but clearly she was complinting the statue.

“Why didn’t you use fire for this one?” she asked curiously.

Crisplet let off a couple of embers, followed by a fire version of the statue that was then encased in charcoal.

“Ah, so the fire statue is an actual skill. How curious. I don’t think I’ve ever t a fire elental who took up a craft before. A couple of ice and earth elentals have, but never a fire,” Alira said.

“There are other elentals who do crafts?” I asked, curious.

“Yes! Not many, but there are a couple, though none on this continent,” Alira said happily.

“I’d love to et them one day. It would be nice for Crisplet to et other elentals, especially if they are doing crafts as well,” I smiled.

Crisplet just let off a burst of sparks.

Entering the dining room, I saw everyone still seated there, waiting, with Lily pretending to be asleep by my chair.

“Oh, I rember all of you! Hello again, Lily!” Alira said happily.

Her eyes locked onto one of the pots on the table. “What is that?” she pointed.

It took a mont, but I realised she was pointing directly to the dish Crisplet had made.

“Uh, that’s a dish that Crisplet made. It’s a chilli crab with a lot of fire properties,” I explained.

“I want to try it! It’s absolutely brimming with fire mana,” she said, looking to Crisplet and for what I assud was permission.

I shrugged. I’m sure that Kathrine might be disappointed later, but I doubt she’d stop Alira.

“Please help yourself,” I said, gesturing her towards it.
