Now reading: Chapter 70: Greed and Recovery from Ashes of the star forge, a Sci-fi novel by bakaaaa.

Dear Readers,

I want to sincerely apologize to all of you.

I made a significant mistake with the power scale and cultivation realms in recent Chapters. I accidentally mixed up the levels of the Characters. Lian at the Stellar circuit Realm and Elara at the Core Condensation Middle Stage. This inconsistency should not have happened, and I take full responsibility for it.

I also rushed the story too much in the beginning, jumping ahead in power and events without properly developing the foundation and progression. This affected the quality and pacing of the novel, and I’m truly sorry for that.

Additionally, I was quite sick for the past few days, which is why I wasn’t able to drop the next Chapter on ti. I didn’t want to post sothing while I wasn’t feeling well, so there was a delay.

This is still my first major story, and I am very much a beginner at writing long web novels. I have been learning as I go, but I have made so errors along the way. I will now be far more careful with the power system, character progression, and overall pacing.

Thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and continued support despite these mistakes. It really ans a lot to . I will work harder to improve and deliver a much better experience from now on.

Sincerely,

Zeal

Back to the story

Lian turned away from the peephole for a mont, his expression twisting with clear disgust. The scene unfolding below sickened him — grown cultivators reduced to panting, flushed sses, bodies squirming in their seats like animals in heat because of one woman’s scent. The lower sections were the worst. n and won clutching at their clothes, breathing heavily, eyes glazed with mindless desire. So were openly sweating, others biting their lips until they bled just to maintain so shred of dignity. The strong preyed on the weak, and the rich toyed with the poor. It was the sa story repeating itself across the galaxy.

Yet beneath the disgust, sothing colder and far more dangerous burned in his void eyes.

Greed.

Pure, unfiltered greed for power. For strength. For the ability to stand above everyone else so that no one could ever look down on him again. His face, usually cold and emotionless, now carried a sharp, hungry edge. He wanted what that Sirenari woman had — the casual authority to drop one hundred billion credits without blinking, the presence that could bend an entire auction hall to her will with nothing but her scent. He wanted to be the one others feared and envied. He wanted to trample rather than be trampled.

He turned back to the peephole, blue void eyes narrowing.

Thankfully, the sweet, intoxicating aroma drifting from the woman’s box had not reached their hidden compartnt. The ventilation grate and their elevated position kept the air here relatively clean. Both he and Elara remained unaffected, their minds clear and sharp.

The auction hall, however, was in complete chaos.

The lower sections had devolved into a ss of heavy breathing, restless shifting, and barely suppressed groans. So cultivators had slumped forward in their seats, faces buried in their hands as they fought the unnatural heat spreading through their bodies. A few weaker ones had completely lost control, eyes half-lidded, bodies trembling. Whispers and quiet curses filled the air as people tried to regain composure. In the middle sections, the reaction was milder but still noticeable — flushed cheeks, quicker breathing, and irritated muttering. Even so mid-level cultivators shot angry glances toward the mysterious woman’s box.

The upper VIP boxes remained mostly composed, though a few of the less powerful elites showed slight discomfort. The true heavyweights simply watched with varying degrees of amusent or indifference.

The host, standing tall on the central stage, turned his head smoothly toward the Sirenari woman’s box and gave a subtle, respectful nod. Almost imdiately, the thick, seductive scent that had flooded the lower levels began to fade. The intoxicating aroma thinned out, then vanished entirely, as if it had never existed. The woman smiled softly in response, a small, satisfied curve of her lips, before turning her attention fully to the newly acquired Voidfang Augnt Arm that had been brought closer to her private box for inspection.

She stared at it with open admiration, violet eyes gleaming with desire. A thin trail of drool actually escaped the corner of her mouth as she admired the sleek black-silver alloy, the glowing blue runes, and the raw destructive potential radiating from the aug limb. She leaned forward slightly, almost reverently, as if beholding a lover. After a long mont, she straightened, wiping her lips delicately with the back of her hand, and spoke quietly to one of her personal servants standing behind her.

“Close the box. Keep it safe. No one touches it until I say so.”

The servant bowed deeply and moved to secure the powerful aug arm.

anwhile, the commotion in the hall slowly began to die down. People shook their heads, took deep breaths, and tried to reorganize themselves. So drank water hastily, others circulated their Qi aggressively to flush out the lingering effects of the scent. The lower sections were the slowest to recover — many still looked dazed and embarrassed, avoiding eye contact with those around them. A few even quietly left their seats, slipping out of the hall in sha.

The host raised his hands, his voice calm and professional once more, cutting through the lingering tension.

“Honored guests, please compose yourselves. We will now continue with the auction.”

He turned slightly and made a discreet gesture to one of his head servants standing at the edge of the stage. The servant nodded and quickly passed instructions to the others. Within monts, teams of attendants began moving through the lower and middle sections, carrying small trays of dicine tubes.

Each tube was small, no longer than a finger, made of clear reinforced glass with a sharp needle at one end. They ca in different grades — E being the weakest, up to A being the highest quality. The ones being distributed now were D-grade. When injected into the body, these tubes could quickly neutralize minor poisons, clear residual foreign Qi effects, and heal small internal injuries. They were not powerful enough to fix serious damage, but they were perfect for situations like this — clearing the lingering seductive influence that had affected so many.

Attendants moved efficiently, offering the tubes to those who looked most affected. So people accepted them gratefully, jabbing the needle into their arms or necks without hesitation. Others refused out of pride, choosing to endure the discomfort. A few argunts broke out in the lower sections as desperate cultivators tried to snatch extra tubes.
