Avalon led the charge. He blasted forward, searing fire wrapping around his form. The temperature spiked as he vanished toward a Warbringer, fist exploding out.
The other Eldorians began to transform, claws erging, wings stretching wide. Crimson eyes replaced tension with bloodlust as they launched forward together, storming the Warbringers in unison.
The collisions that followed cracked the desert floor, shaking the skies and tearing the earth beneath.
And yet... none of it ca close to the chaos between Noctis and Nex.
In the distance, two figures wreathed in mana moved at blistering speeds, clashing and tearing through space with each collision. The force of their blows released roars of pressure that shattered the sky and rippled through the land.
Nex’s face had twisted into fury. He couldn’t understand it. He’d tried multiple tis mid combat to manipulate the mana signature around Noctis, to phase through his defenses. But every ti, Noctis shifted the signature before he could. They always ended up clashing instead.
And that was what Nex couldn’t comprehend.
How could a re beast rival him in ntal speed?
He was a god.
This wasn’t real. It couldn’t be!
Claws and fist t again, the impact unleashing another roaring wave of destruction that scattered clouds and vaporized the ground below.
Nex reappeared so distance away, eyes locked on Noctis with pure hatred. Noctis remained calm, eerily calm. His gaze was still. Calculating. As though sifting through thousands of possibilities.
"I refuse to accept it," Nex said coldly.
He couldn’t accept that this creature was rivaling his mind.
This ti, Nex raised both arms. His thoughts raced. The skies trembled in response.
Suddenly, millions of glowing mana spikes materialized above, each one pulsing, thrumming with power.
"It’s ti to know your place, beast."
His voice bood.
"Die."
He dropped his arms. The spikes exploded downward, hurtling toward Noctis like a rain of divine spears.
Nex’s eyes flickered faster than ever, each spike had a separate mana signature, shifting rapidly, designed to break through anything.
But then... it started with the spikes closest to Noctis. They suddenly began to flicker, before spreading towards the rest.
Nex’s eyes widened.
He turned sharply toward Noctis, his golden eyes were glowing violently, flickering at a speed that nearly blurred them out.
Nex gritted his teeth, his thoughts accelerating as he tried to outpace the shift, changing signatures again, faster than before. But Noctis kept up effortlessly.
And then, one by one, the spikes disintegrated into the wind, like ash caught in a storm.
Before Nex could comprehend what had just happened...
"Kuu!"
The sound echoed deep and low.
Nex’s eyes snapped toward Noctis, just as his entire body erupted in a pillar of dark crimson light.
His golden eyes locked onto Nex, and for a brief mont, the world froze.
He moved.
He appeared before Nex in a blur, claws tearing forward. From every direction, uncountable claw slashes manifested, racing straight for Nex.
Nex’s eyes widened in shock. He could feel it, this aura, It would tear him apart!
’But how!?’
He was a god! A freaking god!
He forcefully shut off every thought in his mind and focused. The mana answered his call, slamming together and forming a massive shield.
The claws struck. The explosion that ca was thunderous and fierce, sending shockwaves rippling through the sky once more.
Nex burst out of the haze, eyes locked on its swirling center.
There was nothing but silence. However...
’He’s coming.’
Nex turned sharply, just in ti to see razor sharp teeth lunging at him from the side.
He exploded to the side, barely dodging by inches.
A spear of mana appeared in his hand. He spun and thrust it hard toward Noctis’s side.
It pierced cleanly, crimson blood splattered into the air. A smile started to appear on Nex’s lips, only to freeze a second later.
His mind scread just in ti for him to see the Noctis he had pierced burst into smoke.
His heartbeat pounded like a war drum, faster than it had in centuries. He turned and saw it, claws inches away from his chest.
’A trap.’
The only thing he could think as the claws struck was:
How the hell did a beast... trap ?
Slash!
The sight of crimson blood appearing in front of Nex shocked him more than anyone could imagine.
He had always been regal, always composed. He was a god.
No matter what had happened in his world, trusted allies betraying him, entire armies rising against his nation, he had never once lost his composure.
But now... the mont he saw that crimson splatter, he knew. Instinctively.
It was blood. His blood.
He hadn’t even registered the pain yet. He didn’t know the extent of the wound. But one thought burned in his mind. One undeniable realization...
He had been hit. By a beast!
Nex’s composure shattered.
His eyes flared with seething bloodlust, the mana across kiloters trembling violently under his rage.
His voice bood like thunder.
"Cognitive Domain."
At once, every orb of mana within kiloters ignited in blinding light.
A pillar of overwhelming brilliance exploded from Nex’s body, the shockwave ripping through the air like a divine hamr.
Noctis was thrown back by the sheer force, his body spiraling through the sky.
He regained balance mid air, claws digging into the air to steady himself.
His golden gaze snapped toward the pillar of light just as it began to recede.
It collapsed and the light sank into Nex, coiling around him, rging with his body.
Noctis watched as the claw mark across Nex’s chest sealed up like it had never been there. His very form began to transform.
His skin turned a pale translucent hue. His eyes beca pure white, devoid of pupils. And his long hair flowed behind him like waves of ocean blue.
If he hadn’t looked godly before, now, he did.
Noctis locked eyes with him and in that instant, ti seed to slow.
For a breath, they simply stared. Then... both figures vanished and a devastating collision echoed a mont later, birthing a roaring surge of force that tore through the sky.
