Chapter 1306: Invaders

A bright light flared as the elites of Kariot stepped through the swirling portal. Their visions were overwheld in an instant, but neither their king nor his warriors faltered.

As a world, they’d been through hell and back together. Survived the dangers of the lower plane, braving through the Virelenna and eventually erging victorious.

They had gone through the ascension process with their heads held high.

As with all ascending worlds, they’d been warned about the dangers of the middle plane. They knew their journey was just starting. But together, they were willing to see it through.

They had trained. They had prepared. They had been ready for whatever challenges the middle plane would bring.

But none of them could have imagined that they would never even reach the middle planes. That their journey would be cut short by a surprise attack from a bunch of random people donned in thick fur coats and desperate eyes.

They’d been caught off guard. The king had lost those close to him. He had shut down, and their world had fallen, thrown into the crucible and forced to rot for all eternity.

Now, after centuries of slow rot, sohow their king had regained his senses. And with it ca a chance for their world to escape the shackles of the crucible, for their world to finally rise to its rightful greatness.

To achieve this, all they had to do was beco the devils that had plunged them into hell in the first place.

The light dimd, then vanished, and the elites of Kariot found themselves in a world bathed in intense crimson.

The skies, the earth, the air, everything was red. It was as though they had been subrged in a sea of blood.

“My king,” Lancaster called out, his voice serious. The king nodded, his expression grim.

Hands gripped their weapons tightly, the king wasn’t excluded. His deanor was tense, eyes narrowed as he scanned the area for signs of threats.

“Are they really ascending?” one of the circle mbers asked, eyes fixed upwards.

Centuries had passed, but they rembered that day like it was yesterday. The world had been moving so fast that the outside was a blur, yet all they saw was red.

“I think it’s this red light, it’s blocking the light outside,” another circle mber noted.

The circle mbers were made up of imposing n and won whose auras told of their great power.

But despite their strength, none of them could hide the tension that gripped them the mont they stepped into this world. Sothing wasn’t right.

“What’s this red light anyway?” another asked. And just as they began to wonder where it ca from, the king’s serious voice responded;

“It’s will.”

Expressions shifted, from shock to alarm. The circle mbers drew their weapons instantly.

This was… will?

They could feel a certain warmth building from it with every second. But it was the fact that it covered the entire planet that sent a shudder down their spines.

Even during their king’s pri, his will hadn’t been this vast.

“Use them.”

A red glow had already enveloped the king, clashing against the crimson will around them. His expression was grim, but his eyes showed only one thing, determination. He would not fail, no matter what.

At his order, Lancaster and the circle mbers focused, and in the next mont, thick armor with shifting plates ford across their bodies, each leaving a gem like space on their foreheads.

Without hesitation, they each brought out small stones pulsing with intense red light and placed them into the hollows on their foreheads.

In the next mont, the stones lit up, energy spreading throughout their entire bodies.

The armor ignited with intense red light and as it dimd, the king observed their new forms.

They were now donned in thick, stone like armor, with plates shifting randomly every second. On each of their foreheads sat a small glowing stone, pulsing with bright, intense light.

‘Will stones,’ the king identified.

The stone and armor had been the main thing Dravek had given them. As he had figured, will stones were objects used to store will.

When used, one could either amplify their own will, or release powerful attacks. There were obviously grades to them, but the king hadn’t deed it necessary to ask.

From the power it emitted alone, he could feel it, it was far beyond what they had during their ascension. Far beyond what their attackers had.

He felt a surge of sadness mixed with anger. If they had this power back then, he wouldn’t have lost his wife and child. They would have survived, reached the middle planes, and beyond.

‘Doesn’t matter.’

The king’s expression turned firm as he activated his armor and placed the will stone on his forehead. As a god, the effect was even more pronounced. He beca a beacon of red light in the crimson world.

“Let’s go,” the king said. “Our main goal is to find and kill the child god.”

Lancaster and the circle nodded.

The goal of the ascension trial was to test newly ascending worlds, and at the sa ti, give crucible bound worlds a chance at redemption.

A world would be randomly selected and pitted against a newly ascending world. The victor would be allowed fully into the middle planes.

There was no stated rule that the god had to die to win, which was how he’d survived. However, with the deal he’d made with Dravek, he had to kill this world’s god.

At the king’s words, the warriors prepared to move, only to freeze as the king raised his arm.

As they wondered what was going on, they noticed the king had turned his eyes to the sky.

“My king?” Lancaster gripped his broad sword tightly and neared him. They each followed his gaze to see a figure hovering above.

A child… that was the first thought that echoed through each of their minds.

“That’s our target.”

The king’s will flared around him, and the warriors’ expressions shifted violently. Their eyes fixed on the figure, bloodlust spilling from their bodies.

That child was the only thing standing in the way of their freedom. They would kill him, no matter what.

“My na is Kancilot Gondrogon,” the king said, his voice booming, heavy aura filling the space.

But the figure in the sky simply stared down calmly. He didn’t move. Didn’t flinch. He just watched them silently.

“We’ve co here for the ascension trials, to challenge your world,” he said, aura rising. “Let’s settle this one on one, in the Arena of Gods.”
