Chapter 1368: Sure
Atticus was a bit surprised to enter the portal and appear in another alleyway.
‘We’re still in the willess world.’
He still felt the inexplicable draw the world had on his will. He was sure of it, he couldn’t use his will.
The woman turned to him, as though reading his thoughts.
“We will exit the willess world through another portal.”
She began moving out of the alleyway as soon as she spoke, accompanied by the aged humanoid man.
Atticus t eyes with the others, a series of unsaid words passing between them. They followed closely behind.
‘I hope you are not being guided by your little guy, my star actor.’
Atticus glared at Whisker. ‘We’re following her because that’s the only option. If you have a better idea, I’m all ears.’
‘Well… we could choose to break through their barricades and leave. Better than… this.’
‘I agree with the lazy man,’ Ozeroth chid in.
‘And what are our chances of getting through? The portals would be ridden with will guards. We could get caught even before reaching there.’
‘Hmm… honestly, I’d rather die fighting than be caught in a honey trap. Where do you think she’s leading us to?’
Atticus could understand what Whisker was about. A woman with world ending beauty had erged from nowhere, just to help them. It seed… suspicious. Very much so.
Atticus didn’t know her, and this was the sa with the rest of the group. Why would she willingly risk getting on bad terms with the will guard just to help them?
No one in the middle planes was that selfless. Except… Atticus knew why she was helping them.
‘Because of Solvath’s fragnt.’
During their brief clash, the woman had called him a kin of Solvath. And while Atticus already knew she was a marked, after the escapade in the alleyway, he was sure she hadn’t just awakened. Which ant she knew how to use her power.
‘It’s risky.’
Atticus still wasn’t sure what made his legs move to follow her. He was sohow drawn to her in a way he couldn’t understand. Like they were comrades in arms, like she alone could truly see him in the world.
But he still couldn’t turn off his cautious nature. This woman was a marked, and according to Solvath, they only had one sole purpose: find and gather all other fragnts.
He could be walking into a trap for all he knew, but Atticus’s steps still didn’t pause.
He couldn’t explain this feeling. It was like he knew her more than he should. He had only just t her, after all.
As they left the alleyway, they entered the crowded streets. It was only then Atticus noted that they were now in the outer parts of the willess world.
Moving a few blocks, they entered an unassuming store. Compared to the others he’d been in today, the interior was just as small as the exterior let on.
The store was empty, save for the woman standing behind a counter at the other side of the room.
“S-saint!” The woman had bright golden hair, just like the saint, and she stood straight with eyes forward the mont they entered.
“Kaidu?” The saint asked as she approached the counter.
“H-he left already, Saint.”
The saint simply nodded and gestured to the group. “They’re with .” She began walking towards a door.
“After we leave, switch locations imdiately and inform the others.”
“Yes, Saint.”
With that, the saint led the group towards the back through a door, and stopped in front of another wall filled with inscriptions.
‘Just like the one we have.’
The aged humanoid man quickly got to it, preparing the portal.
Atticus glanced at the saint, whose eyes t his. He could see no challenge in her gaze, nor was there even a hint of fear. Her gaze was pure scrutiny, like she wanted to see through him.
“Where are you taking us?”
“My world.”
If Atticus felt shocked that she so easily admitted this, he didn’t show it. Entering a god’s world was, well, a mistake.
The god could control everything about their world, from weather to the air they breathed. Even ti wasn’t unreachable.
To follow a stranger into their world was ludicrous.
“How do we know you won’t try to harm us?” Atticus asked after a mont.
“You don’t.” The saint shrugged, the sight alone looking like aloof goddessness. Atticus found himself staring.
“Your legs aren’t being held. You followed here of your own accord. If you don’t trust , you can simply leave. Though I would assu you lot have balls, or do you simply just look like n?”
The words made the eyes of the group narrow. Even Atticus wasn’t excluded. He wasn’t one to allow words get to him, but he couldn’t deny hers riled him up more than he would like to admit.
“Well, we don’t have much of a choice given we’re fugitives now.” Whisker chid in from the side, then added under his breath,
“It’s a mystery to how the sentinels of all people got involved with this petty cri. I an, all we did was attend a freaking auction.”
Atticus felt the eyes of the saint on him. He could tell what was going through her mind. Why hadn’t he told them yet?
Atticus glanced away, refusing to et her eyes. Sohow, they felt like they were judging him.
Whisker went on and on about how insane it all was, complaining about not being able to enjoy the willess world. Ozeroth also chid in, trying to urge the group to fight the will guard rather than fleeing.
Whisker silenced him by replaying the embarrassing scenes of Ozeroth’s battle with the sentinel.
Ozeroth’s face flushed red the next mont. The group burst into laughter. And Atticus froze the mont he saw the smile on the saint’s face. It was beautiful.
The portal lit up in that mont, reminding them of their dire crisis.
Atticus felt the eyes of his people on him, as though asking once more if he was sure.
