'Weak.'
Atticus' will flared and shot up to et the attack. It consud them the next instant, but that wasn't all.
With a thought, nurous beams of fire burst out in Atticus' surging wake, streaking toward different directions.
Monts later, the horizon erupted in towering plus of fire, rising and rolling clouds of smoke that swallowed the distance.
'They're still coming.'
The attacks were simply copies of what had been thrown at him. Though his incredible will made each one more lethal, the distance was too great to ensure they hit their targets.
'I need more power.'
Atticus turned toward a certain direction where he felt a pull.
'It's the only way.'
He exchanged a glance with Magnus and Kiara.
"We're increasing speed."
They'd barely nodded when Atticus' eyes blazed a crimson light. His next step cratered the floor for kiloters, cracks and fissures erupting.
They shot forward, the air shattering around them. Sonic booms burst in layered rings behind them, tearing the air apart.
Redfla attacks rained like teors, but Atticus outran every one of them.
The land behind them erupted nonstop blast after blast that consud everything. Yet, he didn't stop for even a single second.
Monts later, Atticus' eyes sharpened as he caught sight of a vast city just outside the forest.
'There.'
The Redflas had a precaution that enabled their wills to be impervious to absorption. But right now, Atticus needed to absorb more wills and rise to the peak of the viscount rank. Which brought him to this territory.
'If I can't absorb the Redflas, I'll absorb others.'
Atticus didn't slow down his speed. The group were nothing but blurs tearing toward the city. Before anyone could even realize, they broke through the city wall and entered the city.
'Where's everyone?'
Atticus' eyes sharpened as he spread his will around the city, searching for any prey.
'There.'
As soon as he found them, he vanished and appeared high above a large field. Multiple n and won wandered about, so laughing, others silent.
But the mont Atticus caught sight of their features and the blazing aura surrounding them, his expression darkened.
'Redflas.'
This wasn't just any city. It was a city of Redflas!
"Hey! Look at the sky. Who's that?"
Atticus still wasn't used to his newly gained power. His re presence had caused a sudden spike in temperature. One none of the people present had missed.
"Oi! Who the hell are you!" one warrior, donned in molten armor and wielding a large broadsword, asked. A large beacon shone brightly behind him.
'Territory lord,' Atticus identified.
Murmurs spread across the field imdiately until one suddenly exclaid;
"Wait!"
The short man brought out a scroll from his pocket and opened it.
"It's him!"
"Him?"
"Who?"
He ignored the murmurs and jabbed a finger at Atticus with excitent. "Atticus Ravenstein! The one Lord Viscount rek is after!"
The eyes of the crowd sharpened the next mont. The air stilled as hands reached for weapons and wills began to churn.
"Haha! It's our luck!" the territory lord said, gripping his broadsword.
"Looks like you managed to slip past Emberion and Prya! But luck isn't on your side. You'll et your end here!"
He swept his sword to the side as his will blazed violently around him. Others also began to brandish their weapons, fixing their burning eyes on Atticus hovering in the sky.
"…"
A mont passed, yet Atticus hadn't uttered any response, silently hovering in the sky.
"Oi!" the large warrior frowned, expression twisting in outrage. "You deaf or sothing? I sai—"
Atticus suddenly dispersed in the air like smoke. Their eyes constricted.
The large warrior was about to glance around when he felt his world tilt.
"What the—"
As he caught sight of the crimson line running across each of the gods' necks, his heart froze and he realized…
"We're dead."
Without even a scream, dozens of severed heads hit the ground and rolled across the field, torrents of blood spraying from the limp bodies they'd once belonged to.
A distance away, Atticus frowned.
While the gods were busy running their mouths, he'd killed them all and left the scene with Magnus and the others.
However…
'Nothing changed.'
He'd hoped that not all Redflas were affected by the precaution, but he'd been wrong. He felt the sa thing occur with this batch the mont he severed their heads.
'To think I was avoiding them only to encounter them here. Shit.'
At the very least, it wasn't a complete waste of ti coming to this city. Though the Redflas could sohow restrict him from absorbing the wills of mbers he killed, they couldn't affect the ga rules. He'd still gained this territory.
'My awareness has increased. Good, but I need to keep moving.'
His plan remained the sa, find non Redfla gods, kill and absorb their wills. Unfortunately, his brief search inford him that there were none of such gods present in this territory.
The mont he left the city, he was bombarded with nurous fiery attacks from the Redfla army, but Atticus ignored them all and tore toward the next pull.
Monts later, the group floated in the sky, staring at the ruined city sprawled below with a cold gaze.
'What is happening?'
What were the odds that the second territory he'd find also belonged to the Redflas?
'Does this whole region belong to the Redflas? That would be… bad.'
'He might be close then.'
If this whole region belonged to the Redflas, it ant Viscount rek might be closer than he thought.
'He's trying to toy with .'
It was the only explanation. Otherwise, it was odd that he hadn't shown himself since.
"Atticus."
Atticus glanced toward Magnus, who stared at him with a somber gaze.
'His eyes have changed.'
At the very least, this was the only plus in this ordeal. Magnus seed like… Magnus again. The unshakable man he'd always known him as.
"Stopping is a mistake," Magnus said. "In a hunt, the one who hesitates becos the prey."
'The one who hesitates becos the prey.'
His eyes gradually widened then turned resolute. He nodded towards Magnus then turned away. "We're heading to the next territory."
"There he is! Get him!"
"Surround him!"
The Redflas in the city surged out the mont they felt Atticus' presence. But before they could even brandish their weapons, Atticus vanished from the skies.
Their eyes narrowed at the horizon where a streak of crimson light tore through it.
"Ha! The territory lord!"
As they fixed their eyes on the slender man whose head slowly slid from his body, a cold chill ran through them.
They wiped the detached sweat off their foreheads and mumbled…
"Fast."
