Atticus frowned.

"I thought we'd gone past this, grandpa. This is just how things are now."

"Exactly," Magnus replied. "Which is why you need to escape… and leave us behind."

"What are you talking about?"

"If we both fall here, then our family on Eldoralth falls with us."

Atticus' brow tightened.

"Bu—"

"Don't fight it, Atticus." Magnus placed both hands on his shoulders. "This is the only way. Deep down, you know it."

Atticus gritted his teeth and tore away from him.

"No. Hell no. What you're asking to do is… no. I won't do it."

"Atticus."

"I won't!"

Atticus' will flared violently around him, heat rippling off his body, but Magnus didn't back away.

"You were right about one thing, son. Action speaks louder than guilt." A small, sad smile appeared on his lips. "Unfortunately, my grandson has grown far too monstrous for to ever surpass. So I'll lessen your burden in the only way I still can. This is it."

Magnus slowly bowed his head.

"Please, son. Accept this old man's pathetic request."

Atticus staggered back, eyes trembling. His gaze snapped to Kiara.

"Don't tell you also support this madness?"

But Kiara dropped to her knees instantly and bowed her head.

"I know I'm asking too much of you… we scarcely even know each other," she said with a shaky voice. "But please… protect her."

"You're not serious…"

He looked between Magnus and Kiara, stunned. He could feel the seriousness in their deanor. They were determined.

"There has to be another way…"

He turned away sharply, mind spiraling. Using Logoth flickered through his thoughts, but he crushed the idea. Logoth would erase everything he felt and energy him into cold logic.

Emotions were the only thing keeping him anchored.

'There has to be sothing else I can do.'

"There! Over there! Unleash your attacks!"

Atticus' eyes narrowed.

'They've surrounded us.'

He'd been too distracted to quickly notice the champions closing in on them.

"Atticus!"

Atticus ignored Magnus' cry and blurred in front of the duo, enveloping them in his will. He tore into the sky as the attacks of the champions crashed down on where they'd been.

Smoke and ash bellowed into the sky, but Atticus had beco a blur moving around the city.

"He's over there!"

"Don't fear! He can't harm us! Follow him!"

The champions locked onto him in the sky, each one surging towards him with speed.

"Die!"

They unleashed attacks that blotted the skies, each one surging towards Magnus and Kiara. But Atticus weaved through each one, dragging Magnus and Kiara with him.

'Another way.'

As he moved, his mind churned like never before.

He couldn't keep on running like this. Though he was faster than the champions, they were all over the territory. The second he appeared sowhere, he was sward by the champions.

'I don't have much ti. I have to think.'

Atticus could understand his grandfather's thoughts. They had clearly trapped him here for a reason. There was all possibility that a strong foe was coming here. Any ti wasted could lead to their doom. Still, Atticus ignored Magnus' burning gaze and focused.

He couldn't attack any champions. Magnus and Kiara were far too weak to fight them. Escape was impossible…

'For both of them.'

Atticus' eyes flashed past the city to the distant forest.

'I can go after their gods.'

But he gritted his teeth the next mont.

'It's too risky.'

If his suspicions were correct, then the one who set this trap was soone who knew how to use his head. Soone as smart as that wouldn't keep the gods close by.

He could end up wasting ti, searching. But he soon narrowed his eyes.

'I don't have to go myself.'

His focus turned inward as he reached out to one of the Eldorian powers, Dinsari.

'Alternate reality.'

The next mont, the air around him distorted, and one streak beca five.

"Find them."

As Atticus exchanged a look with his alternate selves, they each nodded before shooting towards different directions.

It was only when he saw them passing through the barrier that he let out a sigh of relief.

'Now, I just have to wait.'

Though low leveled, his alternate selves also had Omnicognition. They could see the connection between god and companion, the energy linking them.

'Once they discover them, I'll kill them.'

He continued weaving through attacks and moving through the city with Magnus and Kiara in tow.

Minutes passed, but Atticus' frown only deepened. He was in active communication with his alternate self. Though they ca in contact with so Redflas, they couldn't find the gods.

'They're far away.'

His eyes darkened as he realized.

"Atticus."

Atticus felt Magnus and Kiara's stare on him, but he ignored them.

"They'll find them. I need more ti."

"There's no ti."

"I will not abandon you!" Atticus snapped towards Magnus. "I'd rather die."

"…Atticus."

"Drop it."

Atticus blurred and appeared in another part of the city. But his eyes sharpened the next mont.

'They're not coming after us.'

The champions were maintaining a distance from him.

'They're planning sothing.'

"Do it now!"

Multiple pillars of glow tore through the sky, but Atticus was already moving.

He tore through with Magnus and Kiara before the barrier could encase them.

'They're trying to box us in.'

Trapping them in a smaller do would severely limit his movents. 'I can't allow that.'

Another series of pillars rose into the sky, forming into a do. Atticus increased his speed, surging past each before they could fully form.

However, his eyes soon darkened as more dos began forming across the city.

'They're gradually restricting my space.'

He could go through each of the ford dos, but Magnus and Kiara were a different case entirely.

'Shit!'

As more pillars pierced the sky and more dos ford, soon enough, Atticus found himself boxed in the middle of a large square.

Nurous dos had ford around the territory and even the skies. Though none enveloped them, they had covered every conceivable exit.

"Atticus."

Atticus turned his shaky eyes toward Magnus. The man looked like he had aged decades in the last few minutes.

"Rember… this is simply how it is." Magnus offered a tired but steady smile. "Don't let this break you, son. You're ant for the top. I know you'll reach it."

Then, for the first ti in Atticus' life, Magnus stepped forward and embraced him. Atticus had hugged him before, but Magnus had never initiated it.

"I will trust you to protect the family in my absence."

'No…'
