In his spirit state, he could ignore the material world and move through it freely, soaring high or slipping underground at will.
What seed like complex and dangerous terrain to the soldiers was nothing to him, as easy as walking on flat ground.
This was the first ti Kahn had truly used Spiritbending, and it proved to be incredibly effective.
From Azula's perspective, Kahn remained seated in ditation, completely motionless.
But in reality, his spirit had already risen above the camp, taking in the entire layout from above.
After locating the areas Azula had marked, Kahn flew toward the target zone.
He had to find Iroh's forr subordinates before the Fire Nation army did, and only then could he proceed with the rest of his plan.
This was not difficult for him.
Before the sun had fully set, Kahn skimd low, sweeping across forests and valleys, searching for his targets below like a hawk.
The opposing force consisted of nearly a hundred people.
Hidden in complex terrain and highly mobile, they were extrely difficult for the Fire Nation army to locate.
However, from above, they stood out quite clearly.
The search went more smoothly than expected.
By the ti night fully fell, he had already found them.
The group was concealed within a long, narrow valley.
From the ground, rocks completely blocked the view, making them nearly impossible to detect.
But from above, they were clearly visible.
Even so, they remained extrely cautious, lighting no open flas and refraining from using Firebending.
If night had fully fallen earlier, even he would have struggled to find them.
Seeing that they had no imdiate plans to move, Kahn morized their location and returned.
Inside his tent, Azula lay on her side beside him, idly flipping through a book.
Upon closer inspection, it was his personal adaptation of "Journey to the West."
anwhile, his body remained in a perfect ditative posture, unchanged, which greatly reassured him.
His spirit returned to his body.
He slowly opened his eyes, stood up, and stretched slightly, smiling at Azula.
"Not bad, you didn't play any tricks on my body while I was gone."
"Oh, so I could have played a trick?"
Azula suddenly caught on and began studying him, clearly plotting sothing.
Kahn wished he could slap himself.
Why did he have to say that?
"…Can you pretend you didn't hear what I just said?"
"Did you say sothing?"
Azula blinked and gave him a sweet smile, playing along.
But to Kahn, it was clearly the smile of a mischievous devil.
He knew without a doubt that Azula would not miss such a perfect chance to ss with him.
Yet he had no choice, since he still relied on her to guard his body.
What a disaster.
He sighed deeply and had no choice but to change the subject and get down to business.
"I found them."
Azula imdiately propped herself up upon hearing this.
"That fast? Tsk, it seems Spiritbending really is useful."
Since he needed her to guard his body, he had briefly explained Spiritbending to her earlier.
But after learning that only those who had awakened could use it, she showed little interest and even a hint of disdain.
Kahn called this behavior "sour grapes," though she refused to admit it.
"So, we're going to find them tonight, right?"
Azula said eagerly.
"Mm, I've already checked the layout of the camp. We'll observe the patrol routes later, and sneaking out shouldn't be difficult. However,"
Kahn looked at her strangely and continued,
"You're not planning to co with , are you? The guards outside your tent won't allow it."
Azula received the treatnt of a commanding general, aning Royal Guards were stationed outside her tent even while she slept.
There was no way they would let her sneak out.
But Azula didn't care and smiled sweetly.
"It's fine. I believe Wolf will help , just like he did at the palace."
"Otherwise, why would I have specifically requested him?"
Wolf was the captain of the Royal Guards accompanying them.
Hearing this, Kahn couldn't help but feel a trace of sympathy for him.
To be used by Azula to this extent, he was, in a way, one of her key subordinates.
If thinking that way made Wolf feel better, then so be it.
On second thought, it would indeed be better if Azula ca along.
That way, they could coordinate directly and avoid any misunderstandings or mistakes.
Sure enough, the guard on duty that night was Wolf himself.
When Kahn saw him allow Azula to leave with a numb expression, he silently mourned for him for three seconds.
Kahn couldn't help but say,
"I say, Azula, if his identity and abilities check out, why not formally take him under your command?"
Even though she could already command him at will, officially taking him in would at least stabilize his morale.
Kahn was mainly worried that the pressure might break him.
At best, he might collapse ntally.
At worst, he might explode in desperation and then throw his life away in front of Ozai, which would be a total loss.
Azula considered it and agreed that it was a good idea.
She usually preferred to dominate others through sches and pressure, rarely considering more straightforward thods.
This was true even with Mai, Ty Lee, and the others.
Kahn, on the other hand, tended to take the opposite approach.
From this perspective, although neither of them realized it, they complented each other perfectly.
After quietly slipping out of the camp, the two headed toward their destination.
Firebending allowed them to travel at night without fear of the darkness.
Under Kahn's guidance, they quickly arrived at the hiding place of Iroh's forr subordinates.
It was already deep into the night.
Most of the group was resting, with only a few guards on rotation, who were also drowsy.
Kahn and Azula made no attempt to hide.
They openly revealed themselves, holding glowing fireballs, and loudly announced,
"White Lotus reinforcents have arrived! Where is White Lotus mber Li Dun?"
Li Dun was the leader of this group and also a mber of the Order of the White Lotus.
This was crucial information Kahn had obtained through his contact with the organization.
Although he had a close connection with Iroh, he lacked proof to quickly gain their trust.
Using the White Lotus na was the best option.
Their sudden appearance startled the group awake, causing a brief mont of panic.
But after Kahn repeated his words, they gradually cald down and used Firebending to light up the area, making it much brighter.
At that mont, a sowhat disheveled, burly man stepped forward and replied,
"I am Li Dun. May I ask if you are from the White Lotus—"
"Tate?!"
The bright firelight illuminated Kahn's face, cutting Li Dun's words short in shock.
From his mouth ca a na both unfamiliar and strangely familiar to Kahn—
Tate, the na of this body's father.
