Now reading: Chapter 91 90: Heading to the Eastern Air Temple from Avatar: Rebirth of the Strongest Firebender, a Action novel by Shadowdemon007.

After spending a full week playing with East, South, West, and North, Azula finally beca familiar enough with the four spirits to interact with them normally.

During this ti, Mai and Ty Lee heard the news and ca by to watch the chaos, eventually getting acquainted with them as well.

By then, the four dragon-birds had beco part of Kahn's growing circle.

Once they had played to their hearts' content, Kahn finally brought up the real topic: he needed their help reaching the Eastern Air Temple.

East, South, West, and North agreed imdiately. To them, traveling sowhere new was just another form of playing.

As for returning to the Spirit World?

They enjoyed the human world far too much. They had no desire to go back.

Kahn and Azula secretly slipped out of the city with the four spirits.

Azula had co along because she wanted to witness the "true power" of these little creatures—after all, she hadn't seen anything impressive from them so far.

Once they reached a deserted stretch of wilderness outside the city, Kahn turned to the four spirits and said:

"I'll trouble you all."

The four nodded together, flew into the air, circled once, and then crashed into each other in midair.

A burst of blinding light exploded from the impact, and the glowing sphere rapidly grew in size, its outline changing until—

A magnificent, divine spirit appeared before them.

It had deer antlers, ox-like eyes, a serpentine belly, and a horse-like mane. Its body carried the majesty of a dragon, yet still retained the form and wings of a bird.

Its feathers shimred with golden hues, trimd with soft light-gold manes, while half of its wings glowed a vivid blood-red. Mysterious, solemn, and breathtakingly beautiful.

Only when it took this form did the na "Dragon Bird" truly make sense.

Azula's eyes widened in shock. She had never expected such tiny creatures to rge into sothing this powerful and awe-inspiring.

Seeing this, all traces of her earlier disdain vanished.

So this… is a spirit?

No wonder Kahn trusted them so much.

Even Kahn, who had seen this form once before, felt a surge of excitent.

This is the perfect partner. My real-life Pokémon!

The Dragon Bird flapped its wings casually, generating gusts strong enough to shake the ground.

Then it descended and landed before them, its massive form blotting out the entire world in golden light.

Kahn smiled and called out:

"Nike."

"Kahn."

Nike lowered its head and spoke in human language.

Azula jolted backward in surprise as the enormous spirit affectionately nuzzled Kahn with its beak.

"It—it can really speak human language?!"

Kahn shrugged, unable to hide the smugness in his expression.

"I told you before. You just couldn't understand them in their smaller forms."

"Hmph."

"Nike" was Kahn's exclusive na for their fused form.

After rging, not only did their power increase dramatically, but they gained the ability to speak human language directly—just as they did in the Spirit World.

So even Azula could understand them clearly.

Their individual voices normally sounded like children, but as Nike, their voice beca calm, gentle, and neutral—pleasant to the ear.

Nike lowered its body to make it easier for Kahn to climb up. Once he was securely seated, he turned to Azula.

"If I manage to et the person I'm looking for, I'll probably go with them imdiately to study. But I'll be back within ten days at the latest. I'll need you to cover for in the anti."

"No problem. It's not like I haven't done it before."

Azula agreed without hesitation. Tasks like this were trivial for her.

Kahn trusted her ability completely. He patted Nike and said:

"Then let's go."

Nike let out a clear cry, spread its wings, and soared into the sky.

Within a few heartbeats, it had turned into a small speck. After crossing the nearest mountain range, it vanished from sight.

"What a convenient Spiritbender…"

Azula watched the sky with clear envy.

She wanted to ride it next ti too.

Unfortunately, Kahn never allowed her to "use her thods" on the four spirits, so getting their permission would be… difficult.

But on her way back to the city, a terrifying realization struck her.

With these spirits, Kahn could escape from her anyti he wanted. She would have no way to stop him.

That problem didn't exist now, but Azula still felt an unsettling sense of crisis.

No… I need to find a solution.

Nike flew swiftly and steadily toward the Eastern Air Temple.

Their altitude was so high that they were hidden above the clouds, leaving them completely undetected.

Cold wind whipped across Kahn's face as he looked down at the endless white sea of clouds.

When he asked Nike to descend slightly, he could even reach out and scoop up a handful of mist that dissolved into vapor in his palm.

The surreal experience washed away much of his earlier anxiety.

It was cold at this height, but Firebenders had strong resistance to cold. An ordinary person would have been freezing.

Nike flew with incredible speed. The sea that would take several days to cross by boat was traversed in half a day.

Soon, an island appeared ahead, crowned with a beautiful, majestic complex atop its mountain peak.

The Eastern Air Temple.

"Nike, that's the place."

With a soft cry, Nike descended and landed at the base of the temple complex.

The Air Nomads were the most peaceful of the four nations—optimistic, free-spirited, and detached from worldly structures.

They never established a kingdom. Their lives resembled those of monks: simple, spiritual, harmonious.

Their architecture reflected this: serene temple structures built along mountain peaks. Their clothing, habits, and culture all mirrored the life of monks.

But those days were long gone. Now, only fragnts remained in historical records.

Airbenders preferred to live on mountaintops, so the temple was nestled high above the world, surrounded by drifting mists.

It had a serenity that made one instinctively quiet down.

From the scenery alone, it was clear this was a place far removed from worldly troubles—perfect for ditation and cultivating the spirit.

There were no Air Nomad remains here, aning soone had likely buried them long ago.

Kahn walked the mountain path with East, South, West, and North trailing behind, admiring the scenery while pondering how to locate Guru Pathik.

Even if Pathik wasn't deliberately hiding, finding one person in a massive complex wouldn't be easy.

Just then, a relaxed voice echoed directly inside his mind—

Co to the highest point of West Peak. I'm waiting for you there.

"?!"

Every hair on Kahn's body stood on end. He looked around instinctively, but saw nothing.

"East, South, West, and North — did you hear anything?"

"Hear what?"

"No."

"Found anything?"

"Perhaps only Kahn can hear it."

All four shook their heads.

A Spiritbending master?

Kahn exhaled slowly and cald himself. He had already co this far — there was no turning back now.

He followed the voice's instruction and climbed to the highest point of West Peak.

There, sitting cross-legged on an open platform, was an old man dressed in a monk's robe, calmly ditating.

Sensing Kahn's arrival, the old man opened his eyes and smiled warmly.

"Hello, special Spiritbender. I have been waiting for you for a long ti."
