Now reading: Chapter 174 174: Assassination ? from Awakening The Only SSS-Rank Class! Now Even Dragons Obey Me, a Action novel by LazyBlack.

"Purple-ranked dungeon on risia Island. There's no detailed information available yet, but it's believed to contain a Chaos Crystal."

"According to reliable sources, the National Federation is expected to assign eight entry slots to eight guilds, with each being allowed to send in one team."

Daniel read through the news slowly, and with every sentence, his surprise grew.

A purple-ranked dungeon was equivalent to an S-rank, and that alone made it incredibly important — enough to involve direct action from the National Federation.

But what truly caught him off guard was the ntion of a Chaos Crystal. What even was a Chaos Crystal?

He tried searching it up, but was t with a "restricted access" warning.

So he went back to the post and began reading the comnts below, hoping soone might have ntioned sothing useful. He even tried leaving a comnt himself, but the mont he typed "Chaos Crystal," his ability to comnt was disabled for a whole week.

That left him with no choice but to just keep scrolling through replies, hoping soone with more access had written sothing informative.

Unfortunately, the answer was no. Still, it wasn't a complete failure — after reading dozens of comnts, he managed to get a vague idea of what the Chaos Crystal was.

Apparently, it was sothing necessary for national-rank Awakened to power up. In order to push past their limits, national-level Awakened needed Chaos Crystals.

And it seed the crystal had other properties too, but Daniel couldn't figure out what they were.

He kept reading the rest of the article, hoping to see if the guild entry tis had been confird — and luckily, they had.

The National Awakened Federation was planning to announce the selected guilds next month, each of which would receive a single team slot to enter.

The actual entry would happen soti after the Dragon and Phoenix Gathering. No reason had been given for the delay.

"Chaos Crystal… I don't think it's useful to yet, but my instincts are screaming at to get it… But how? There's no way I'm reaching S-rank in just a few months," Daniel muttered as he closed the online community and flopped back onto his bed.

Even though he'd grown at an explosive pace recently, he was still very aware of his own limits. There was no way he could push himself to S-rank that quickly.

"Forget it," he decided. It wasn't sothing he could get involved in anyway.

He decided to nap — a short three-hour rest — and when he woke up, he headed out to join the two girls and his mother.

They also looked like they had just woken up and were watching their favorite drama series.

Daniel sat down with them and watched for a while. After the episode ended, Alice asked if they could play so cards — which they did for a bit.

Eventually, it was already getting dark. This ti, their mother refused to let them order out and made so homade sandwiches instead.

Daniel didn't particularly like them, but he had no choice but to eat.

After that, they talked a bit about the upcoming court hearing, and Daniel asked about their lawyer.

"Lawyer? We don't have one," Leia replied calmly.

"You don't have a lawyer? What do you an you don't have a lawyer?" Daniel felt like he must've misheard her.

How could they possibly not have a lawyer? As far as he knew, legal representation was a requirent in Awakened Court.

This was a custody case involving an Awakened — normal courts wouldn't even take such a case.

And from what he knew, Awakened Court was extrely strict. Without a lawyer, how were they planning to win?

"Well, I didn't think we'd need one. The head of the Awakened Association sent a lawyer to help get us out of holding, and that sa lawyer said he'd personally handle the custody case," Leia explained.

"I see…" Daniel let out a breath of relief. If that was true, then there was nothing to worry about.

Still, Mr. August has helped out a lot. I should make sure to thank him before we move to the capital, he thought, and then spent so more ti with his family before heading back to his room.

Tomorrow, he planned to take the girls out for training again, and he also needed to spar with all his Fallen once more to get a better grasp of his current strength.

If all went well, he'd challenge the second floor of the Tower in three days.

He laid his head on the pillow and slowly drifted off to sleep.

But tonight wouldn't be a peaceful one.

Around 3 a.m., a breeze quietly blew open the windows.

But it wasn't just the wind… Through the bedroom windows of Alice, Tiana, and their mother, three figures dressed entirely in black slipped into the house.

The three looked at each of the sleeping girls but ignored them, silently leaving the rooms.

At the sa ti, the front door creaked open — the entire lock had been lted through.

Three more black-clad figures entered the living room through the door.

"There were only three won in the rooms," said one of them, their voice sounding neither male nor female.

"The target must be in one of the other rooms. Search the entire house," said the one who appeared to be the leader, also in a genderless voice.

The others nodded silently and imdiately began moving.

Despite their speed, not a single sound ca from their footsteps — like they were ghosts. Their presence didn't even cast a shadow.

They checked each room one by one, including the bathrooms and empty storage spaces.

Until finally, they found their target.

They opened the door and entered. Using so unknown thod, the location was quickly communicated to the rest of the group.

All of the black figures headed that way. Three of them entered the room while the rest remained outside. Two others stayed near the won's rooms to make sure nothing went wrong.

"So this is our target. A handso boy with white hair… Daniel Noir."

"There's no other man in the house," one of them confird. The three exchanged glances and nodded.

One of them pulled out a rope, another a full packet of pills, dumping them onto the table next to the bed. The last one drew a knife.

It looked like a simple blade — but it was actually an A-rank item.

This knife wouldn't leave surface wounds. It only caused internal injuries.

For example, if you slashed soone's throat, the organs and inner tissues would be torn apart, but the skin itself would remain untouched.

They were going to stage this as a suicide.

"You can bla yourself… for getting involved with the wrong people."
