Even though Serys’s words seed like she was upset about losing, many people could feel a trace of mockery in her tone.
That confused everyone—why would soone who lost mock the winner? Was it possible they were just imagining it and there was no mockery at all?
But they looked at each other and started discussing it. How could all of them have imagined the sa thing?
That left only one possibility: that rabbit lady was mocking Mr. Goat!
And there was only one conclusion they ca to—Lady Rabbit had been intentionally raising the price with fake bids!
"So that’s why she suddenly placed two consecutive bids! Nine Chaos Crystals was the highest amount she could afford!"
"So she was raising the price on purpose this whole ti? But why?"
"Could it be the two of them are enemies or sothing?"
"But even if that’s true, how did they recognize each other? Identities are hidden in here, after all."
The audience couldn’t believe sothing like that—but at the sa ti, there was no other explanation.
Still, one person among them was absolutely furious—and that was Mr. Goat. How could he not have realized that he was being played the entire ti?
He was filled with rage and really wanted to break this wall down and go find that so-called Lady Rabbit in person.
But he barely managed to hold back his anger. Under no circumstances could he reveal his identity—if he did, a catastrophe would co down on him.
"No matter. Either way, I got a semi-divine weapon. With it, our strength will jump forward." He mumbled to himself and stood up to go receive the weapon.
The host had just inford him that he had to collect the weapon in person—it couldn’t be delivered through that talisman.
anwhile, in another VIP room, Serys was just as confused and shocked as the audience. She looked at Daniel in complete bewildernt, her eyes clearly demanding an explanation.
Every single word she’d said, every tone she’d used, had been this boy’s orders.
But she couldn’t understand why. Did he actually know Mr. Goat and hold a grudge against him?
"Why are you looking at like that? It’s obvious we couldn’t have bought that weapon—not while that guy was here." Daniel raised his hands innocently.
"Was it really necessary to raise the price that much?"
"Yeah. I wanted to see how many Chaos Crystals he had so I could steal them." He said, smiling.
"Besides, the plan was for Mr. Goat to win the weapon. As long as he bought it, we’d be able to take it back without paying even a single Chaos Crystal."
"Are you sure? What if the guy has strong bodyguards? What if he himself is extrely powerful?" Serys said with a frown, then continued,
"And what if, by the ti we try to steal it, even the Goolden Tooth Bandits get involved?"
Daniel didn’t answer right away. Instead, he let Serys calm down a bit. It was clear she was confused and annoyed by everything he had done so far.
"First, that man doesn’t have any guards. In fact, he doesn’t even dare bring any guards to this city. Second, yes, he’s strong, but I’m sure we can beat him if we work together. And third, don’t worry—I actually want the host to get caught up in it too, so I don’t care if the bandits get involved."
Serys’s frown disappeared after hearing the first part of his explanation, but after the second part, her frown ca back—this ti even deeper.
"You want to fight the bandits too? Are you insane? Did you forget there are a bunch of Grand Climbers among them?"
"Was the na of that weapon really Myriad Devourer? And were all the explanations about it accurate?" Daniel didn’t answer her. Instead, he asked another question.
"Yes. In fact, your guild and the Mage Tower both called it that. And the details they gave were accurate too." Serys nodded and replied.
"That ans they knew the weapon very well. Before the weapon was stolen, did that Lioran you ntioned know all this stuff?"
"No... even I didn’t know. Only the highest-ranking officials knew the weapon’s na and function. Lioran and I just knew a hiddeb weapon existed. Even now, Lioran shouldn’t know what its na and use are—my master only told because I was sent on this recovery mission." Serys frowned deeply, now understanding what Daniel ant.
They had thought the spy who leaked the weapon’s info was Lioran—and that’s why the bandits had been able to steal it.
But what about the weapon’s na and function? She was sure Lioran didn’t know. The reason was simple:
Lioran was currently in isolation, and there was no way her master had ti to tell her anything after the weapon was stolen.
At best, Lioran could have leaked the timing of the weapon’s transport, the location, and the number of guards.
Only the most powerful and high-ranking officials in the Mage Tower knew its na, function, and even what it looked like.
What did that an? That there was another spy! And maybe Lioran had only sent an assassin to kill them. The one who caused the weapon to be stolen might actually be soone else!
"You get it now?" Daniel smiled. Luckily, this girl had used her brain cells to think.
"You’re trying to find out who the spy is? What made you think the host knows anything?"
"Nothing. Just a hunch. I’m not even sure. But if he doesn’t know, then maybe one of those A-Ranks in the Goolden Tooth Bandits does. At the very least, we can test our luck." He shrugged.
Serys nodded. The thought that there might be a spy among the highest and strongest mbers of the Mage Tower made cold sweat drip down her face.
If the spy was a spy... who were they really? Why did they want that weapon to be stolen?
More importantly, she couldn’t let soone like that remain among them.
"There’s just one problem. That weapon—does it work now? If it does, then we’re cooked. There’s no way we can take it back without getting killed by the weapon itself." Daniel asked with a bit of seriousness and concern.
