Daniel was inside the Black Palace, the central command of the Lionheart family, sitting across from an extrely beautiful woman.

If he had to describe her, he would say she was definitely one of the most beautiful won he had ever seen. Even so, he didn’t dare show any reaction or utter a careless word.

Her face and expressions were completely cold, almost as if she was utterly emotionless and detached from the entire material world. Daniel had never seen this level of indifference before.

Now he understood why everyone feared this woman.

"Nice to et you," the White Fang said coldly—a coldness that could make bones tremble.

"Nice to et you too."

"There’s no need to waste ti. Let’s get straight to the point. Did you fight the heroes?"

Daniel didn’t say anything, only nodded in confirmation. He realized the White Fang must be the sa girl whom the Death Hero had once called talented.

Still, that surprised him a little and raised his opinion of her. He had fought those heroes himself and, even though he managed to defeat them, they were truly strong.

He didn’t think anyone at the sa rank as him could defeat a hero, but it seed he was wrong.

"Did you win?" A strange light flashed in her eyes, and for a mont she lost her usual composure.

"It wasn’t an easy fight, but I won."

The White Fang’s eyes shone with surprise, astonishnt, and even shock. Even though she had expected this answer, actually hearing it left her shaken.

"When I was at the sa rank as you, I fought the Death Hero. At that ti, I realized what true peak strength and peak genius were." The White Fang suddenly began speaking with nostalgia.

"Back then, everyone called the greatest genius of my generation. I was even supposed to beco the head of the family. They said I could surpass even our ancestors and the founder... and they weren’t wrong. I defeated the founder. That was the first ti I ever felt pride in myself... but..."

"But then I fought the Death Hero. That beca the greatest defeat of my life. It wasn’t just defeat—it showed I wasn’t even close to being the best."

Daniel said nothing, just listened. He couldn’t understand what this had to do with him, but he didn’t dare show disrespect to the woman in front of him.

"I never thought anyone could defeat the Death Hero. But it seems I was wrong." Her cold eyes locked on Daniel.

It was as if she was trying to peer into the depth of his strength, to see what made him special, what allowed him to defeat the Death Hero.

But no matter how much she looked, she couldn’t find anything remarkable about him—he only looked like a powerful Climber.

"Has defeating the Death Hero beco your obsession?" Daniel asked.

He could see a kind of fixation in her eyes, but he couldn’t figure out where it ca from.

Obsessions were among the strangest and most dangerous concepts in the world. Especially among the Awakened, they could even bring about miracles.

And this woman looked like she was trapped by one. Maybe even her coldness ca from it.

"Obsession?" The White Fang’s eyes flickered. She didn’t answer right away, instead falling into thought over the word.

She closed her eyes for a while, sinking into deep contemplation. When she opened them again, her gaze seed calr.

In fact, her entire aura and presence felt calr, as if she had been released from so kind of binding. It even looked like her strength had undergone subtle changes.

"You’re right. I had an obsession with defeating the Death Hero. I devoted my whole life to becoming stronger so I could challenge him again and win. I abandoned all worldly ties, thinking I would be the first person to ever defeat that man."

"But it seems I was wrong... soone else managed to do it before ." The White Fang spoke with her usual cold tone, though if one listened carefully, it sounded a little warr than before.

"I see. But what does this have to do with ?" Daniel asked, slightly confused. Honestly, he didn’t want to say those words, but nothing else ca to mind.

"You defeated the Death Hero. That ans if I defeat you, it’s the sa as defeating him. When you reach my rank, we will fight."

"If that’s what you want." Daniel gave a bitter smile. She hadn’t even asked—she just stated what she wanted.

Not that it mattered much to him. As long as it didn’t pose a direct threat, everything was fine.

Then he stood up, ready to leave.

"Although... I have one condition."

"Condition?" The White Fang frowned.

"If you want to fight you, you should at least pay a price, right?"

"That’s reasonable. What condition?"

"I want you to support Andreas in becoming the heir," Daniel said.

She frowned slightly and didn’t answer right away, clearly considering the situation.

Seeing this, Daniel smiled. This woman was one of the strongest figures in the Lionheart family. As long as she supported Andreas, his plans would be much easier.

"No problem. But even if I support him, it won’t change much. He still has to defeat Lioran."

"That’s fine." Daniel nodded, then said goodbye and left.

After he was gone, the White Fang sighed and activated her divine sense, turning her gaze toward the stairway. Waves of mories replayed in her mind.

There were things she hadn’t told the boy. For example, she had always sought the inheritance of the Death Hero. Yet back then, the hero had told her she was unworthy—that fate had already chosen the heir.

She didn’t know if that heir was the boy or not, but her intuition told her he was.

But even if that was true, what could she do? The heir had already been chosen. She had no chance anymore. Maybe... if she defeated the boy, she could take the inheritance.

Still, she didn’t want to abuse her superiority or force him. She wanted their battle to be fair. She had already waited all these years—she could wait a little longer.

In the end, even if she lost... she would fulfill the promise she once made to the Death Hero—she would serve the heir.
