"Fighting a god? Bad luck for you, I’ve already had that experience once," Daniel said after a short pause, then suddenly burst out laughing.
Now that he thought about it, this wasn’t even the first ti he was about to fight a god.
He had already faced the Prophet of Eternity, who was a god. It couldn’t really be called a proper fight, or even a victory, but he had still tasted divine power once before.
That’s why he was ready to use [Fallen Will].
Under normal circumstances, he didn’t stand a chance against this god, but if he used that skill, maybe, just maybe, a miracle could happen.
"What nonsense are you spouting? Fighting a god? And living to tell the tale?" the Buried God smiled, the contempt in his eyes clear as day.
Even though he genuinely acknowledged this human as a monstrous prodigy, there was no way he could have fought a god and survived.
He even doubted that any god would ever lower themselves enough to fight a re mortal, no matter how talented that mortal was.
He himself had no choice in this case. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be wasting ti on such a lowly being.
"Interesting... a mortal who dares to speak of gods like that. Let show you why the tongue of man should burn in my presence."
With a single motion, the air itself tore apart.
Thousands of shadowy hands erupted from the darkness, rushing toward Daniel.
Daniel activated [Bloody Shadow Dance], slipping into the shadows and reappearing right behind one of the arms. He swung his sword down with full force.
The strike hit sothing invisible, and shattered.
The Buried God had raised a finger, summoning a black wall of light before him.
"[Abyssal Dominion]." His voice echoed through the void.
Everything around them beca his domain.
Daniel felt his body grow heavy, as if the very laws of creation had stopped working for him.
It beca hard to breathe, but the smile on his face didn’t fade.
He lifted his sword. "A domain, huh? I’ve got one too."
With a roar, the energy of death exploded from his body.
The earth withered, and the stars went dark. But even so... the god’s power was still greater.
The Buried God smirked, unimpressed.
This "domain" was nothing more than a weak, imperfect imitation, sothing not even worth acknowledging.
He waved his hand, and the entire world around them seed to shatter. The ground split apart, and they rose from the depths until the sky ca back into view.
"It’s easier to fight up here," he said casually, as if this was all trivial to him.
[Eternal Eclipse]
A black sun appeared in the sky, radiating an inverted light.
Everything it touched began to decay.
Daniel tried to activate [Demonic Twilight Shield], but the mont the shield t that light, it broke apart like glass.
A flicker of shock crossed his eyes.
It was the first ti he’d ever seen his shield dissolve so easily, like a thin layer of butter lting under the sun.
An overwhelming pressure ca from every direction. His bones cracked; blood ran from his ears.
The Buried God stepped forward, one step at a ti, and every step hit reality like a hamr blow.
"It’s been a long ti since I’ve fought anyone," the god murmured as he walked closer, glancing down at Daniel without interest.
"You should feel honored," he continued calmly.
"Dying by the hand of a god , that’s the greatest honor a human can have."
"Honored? Don’t make laugh," Daniel said coldly.
"You think you’re worthy to kill ?"
He couldn’t understand where this idiot’s arrogance ca from.
"If anything, the fact that you’ve fallen this low as a god should already tell you how pathetic you are. And now you talk about honor?" he scoffed with pure disdain.
The Buried God frowned, clearly irritated.
"Now that I think about it,"
"maybe I’ll just banish your soul to the Abyss of Ten Thousand Demons and take over your body instead. Would be a waste to let that talent of yours rot away."
Now that he thought about it, wouldn’t it be better to take over this boy’s body instead of keeping his current one?
After all, even he had to admit that this boy was a true prodigy, the kind that was extrely rare.
He seed to possess countless abilities and talents... even one that belonged to a god.
If he were to seize this existence, all of those powers would beco his.
This way he might even reach a level he couldn’t in his previous life, and could even take his revenge.
The Buried God’s expression darkened; for the first ti, real anger showed on his face.
He raised his hand, and thousands of chains of light burst out from the ground.
They pierced through Daniel and nailed him in place. Each chain sang a divine hymn, a hymn of annihilation.
Daniel scread. The death aura around him began to burn, but the more it burned, the tighter the chains beca.
The pressure built up until even his sword started to crack.
The Buried God approached slowly.
"It’s true that I’ve fallen to this state," he said quietly
"but not because I was weak, it was because those bastards set a trap for ."
His eyes glowed, and from within that light, deadly beams shot forth.
Daniel didn’t even have ti to dodge.
Each beam struck like the explosion of a thousand stars , and his body completely disintegrated.
Nothing remained but ashes.
Yet the Buried God didn’t avert his gaze.
He stayed still, calm, almost expectant.
He knew better than anyone what kind of being this man was.
Soone who could command the Fallen Legion wouldn’t die so easily.
Even if he didn’t show it, those words from earlier had truly angered him, and this was his way of calming himself down.
Then, from within the ashes... a new form began to take shape once more.
