Daniel raised his hand and pointed straight ahead, toward the route leading to the exit, the stairs that reached the surface.
"And there’s a thick wall there. That’s where we’re going to leave."
Then his gaze settled on an ordinary wall. A wall that looked completely normal. Kayn and lia followed his line of sight, their eyes landing on the sa wall.
However, no matter how closely they looked, they couldn’t find anything unusual about it.
"While I was possessing that demon’s body, I realized this base is full of hidden routes. They’re ant for ergencies." Daniel noticed their confused looks and explained.
During the ti he had been inside Orsius’s body, he hadn’t wasted it doing nothing. On the contrary, he had taken full advantage of the situation and done his best to learn as much as possible about the base.
With a bit of exploration and so questioning, he quickly learned that the base had many hidden paths for ergency situations. Even though the demons were arrogant, surprisingly, they were also extrely cautious.
They had prepared for every possible scenario in which humans might launch a covert attack.
lia and Kayn looked at the wall Daniel was pointing at. It was smooth, black, and completely uniform, without the slightest sign of anything hidden behind it. If soone didn’t already know, they would never suspect there was sothing beyond it.
Daniel raised a finger, bent it slightly, and fired a thin, dark, silent beam from its tip. A mont later, cracks spread across the wall, and then it collapsed with a dull sound. Smoke and dust rose into the air.
When the dust settled, Kayn and lia stared in shock. Behind the wall... a narrow, long passage had been hidden.
Daniel entered without hesitation. The two of them hurried after him. As soon as they went inside, the wall returned to its original state, as if it had never been destroyed at all.
The passage was cold and damp. Its walls were covered with worn seals and faded markings that showed this route hadn’t been used in years. lia looked around and asked quietly:
"What if the demons notice we’ve escaped?"
"Don’t worry. They’ll be busy very soon," Daniel replied calmly.
They kept moving.
"Where does this path lead?" Kayn asked after a mont of silence.
"Outside the base. I don’t even know the exact location myself," Daniel said.
It was a lie. He knew exactly where this path led, but saying it would only create unnecessary questions. Besides, he didn’t want the two of them to realize what this route was close to.
At the sa ti, another group of demon guards entered the prison section.
When they saw the bodies scattered across the floor, the color drained from their faces. One of them imdiately shouted and activated the alarm seal. The sound of deep, horrifying bells echoed throughout the entire base.
"Escape! Several prisoners have escaped!"
"Inform the Crown Prince! Prisoners have escaped!"
"Seal the base imdiately!"
Within just a few breaths, all entrances and exits of the base were sealed. Massive formations activated, and a network of dark energy locked down the sky above the base.
Hunting teams were ford, and guards spread rapidly through the corridors.
This was the first ti such an alarm had ever been triggered. In all the years since this base had been established, not a single prisoner had ever managed to escape.
That fact only increased the confusion and unease among the demons. It didn’t take long for the news to reach the highest-ranking figures present in the base.
When the cells were inspected, it beca clear exactly who had disappeared.
At that mont, a massive figure clad in heavy armor entered the prison section. A suppressive aura filled the surroundings.
General Karnoz.
His sharp gaze swept over the corpses, the walls, and the seals. Then he reached the cell where Daniel, Kayn, and lia had been imprisoned. After a few seconds, he frowned.
The bars... had been completely reduced to ash. What kind of power was needed to do this? Even he himself would struggle sowhat to destroy these bars.
They were made of an extrely special tal, reinforced with nurous spells to increase their durability.
"The humans who were imprisoned here had their powers," Karnoz said in a deep voice.
"That’s impossible, General. The seals—" one of the demons said hesitantly.
"The evidence says otherwise," Karnoz cut him off.
He took a few steps forward, his eyes fixing on a wall. He fell silent for a mont.
Judging by the bodies, it looked like they had been deliberately left here. Was it to mislead them? Still, it didn’t seem logical.
If those humans had used the main exit, they would have been captured for sure. Which ant either they were still sowhere inside the prison... or—
"Break the wall."
The guards were confused, but they didn’t dare to object. They attacked and shattered the wall. The hidden passage was revealed.
"This is it." Karnoz’s eyes glead. He knew about the existence of so hidden routes, but he hadn’t expected one to be here.
But the question was, how did those humans know?
"Full speed. They’re inside this path. Find them," he said as he entered, motioning for the forces behind him to follow.
A large group of demons surged into the passage like a flood.
anwhile, farther ahead in the hidden route, Daniel, Kayn, and lia continued moving forward. The path was long and exhausting.
"They’ve noticed our escape." Daniel suddenly stopped. With his spiritual senses, he could feel them coming after them.
"What do we do now?" lia asked anxiously.
"Nothing," Daniel said with a smirk.
At that exact mont, the small fragnts of death energy he had planted on the cells... activated.
Explosions.
Not one, not two, dozens of explosions erupted throughout the prison section. The cells detonated one by one, their doors bursting open.
Prisoners who had been tortured for years were suddenly freed. In disbelief, they realized their powers had returned. At that mont, they didn’t care how their powers had co back, they only wanted to escape or take revenge.
Wild laughter echoed through the base.
Without a shred of hesitation, they attacked the demons. So reached the upper levels of the base and began destroying everything. Others only wanted to flee.
At the sa ti, more explosions erupted in different sections of the base.
The entire base fell into chaos.
