"And you still spouted it in front of the whole court?!"

Charles’s eyes widened, startled by his own words. He looked around—even the few gazes that had once held pity now turned sharp, rciless.

"See?" Soren said with a faint grin, his tone calm and composed. During the maid’s statent, he had known he only needed to wait—Charles would eventually reveal everything himself. Despite the man’s seemingly collected deanor, his temper always betrayed him.

The ministers lowered their gazes. So rubbed the bridge of their noses, while others pressed their temples, clearly exasperated.

"Hianshu has always been good at scheming," one of them murmured, as if absolving himself of guilt for ever trusting Charles’s words.

Enzo scoffed quietly and took a seat while several knights stepped forward to seize his husband. Charles protested vehently, insisting he was being frad, but no one paid him any attention.

"Arrange the divorce papers," the Emperor ordered, rising from his seat.

Everyone imdiately stood and bowed deeply, while the Empress wrapped her arm around her husband’s.

"Your Imperial Majesty," Soren spoke up, his voice steady but loud enough for all to hear. "I suggest we keep him in the dungeon."

"Dungeon?" the Emperor repeated.

"Yes."

"But he’s part of the Hianshu delegation—" one of the ministers interjected, worry flashing across his face.

"We do not claim him as one of us. Not anymore," Henri said firmly. He had also received an invitation to attend the trial, along with Loti, though he hadn’t understood why at first. Now it was clear—Raniel must have arranged it to ensure they wouldn’t side with Charles and that he’d be punished for his cris. "We will return ho tomorrow morning."

"Very well," Zephyr nodded. "As for the agreent—"

"There will be none," Loti interrupted. She knew better than anyone else what the Temple had done to those children.

"Alright."

With that, the Emperor and Empress exited the hall.

The once-crowded room was now nearly empty—only five people remained.

Enzo turned toward Zayden, smiling faintly. His expression carried a strange mix of bitterness and relief. He wasn’t sure which emotion weighed heavier.

"Thank you so much. I couldn’t have done this without you—"

"Don’t say that. We are friends, right?" Zayden replied, curling his lips.

"It’s a friend’s duty to help another," Soren added, joining them with a calm smile.

Before any of them could continue, Marquis Vlaron stord toward Enzo, his boots striking the marble floor in sharp, furious steps.

"You insolent—" the elderly man hissed, his voice trembling with rage. As he approached Enzo, he brushed past Ren roughly, almost knocking him over.

Zayden caught Ren instinctively, his arm looping around the oga’s waist in one smooth motion. It was reflex—too natural to think about. But he imdiately let go when a loud slap cracked through the silent hall.

Enzo’s head snapped to the side. His cheek burned, turning red like a scarlet brand. The heat pricked at his eyes, but he refused to cry. Instead, he lifted his chin, glaring at his father with defiance blazing through the tears he held back.

"What now? Are you angry that your business won’t run as smoothly now that my divorce has been approved?" Enzo sneered, his tone sharp enough to draw blood.

Marquis Vlaron’s face twisted with rage. Veins pulsed visibly along his temples as he jabbed a finger toward his son.

"You ungrateful wretch!" he roared, voice echoing off the marble walls. "After everything I’ve done for you—fed you, clothed you, raised you—you repay with this? With sha?! You’ve humiliated this family in front of the entire empire!"

Enzo’s lips curled in a bitter smile.

"No, Father. You did that yourself the mont you chose profit over blood."

"Enough!" Valron snapped, his voice cracking like thunder. "You are no longer my son! I disown you—do you hear ?! From this day forward, the na Vlaron no longer belongs to you! Don’t you dare step foot in my household again!"

A dry, broken laugh slipped from Enzo’s mouth. It wasn’t one of amusent—but of exhaustion and disbelief.

"Hah. Who would want to go back there anyway? That place is nothing but hell." His voice softened at the end, trembling yet firm.

Then, he turned to Zayden, drawing in a shaky breath.

"Once the bond is broken... can I go with you? I don’t want to stay in the capital anymore. Can you... take away from here, please?"

Zayden blinked, startled. He hadn’t even considered where Enzo would go if he refused his father’s ho.

"Of course. You can co with us," Ren said before Zayden could answer. He wasn’t sure why—but looking at Enzo, he saw a reflection of himself. That sa quiet desperation, the sa hollow strength.

Marquis Vlaron’s scowl deepened, his blood boiling.

"Wait—what nonsense is this? You are going with the General?" He grimaced. "You can’t! You’ll remarry, do you hear ?! I won’t have my na tied to so runaway divorcé!"

"You just said you were disowning him, Marquis," Soren interrupted, stepping between father and son. With a swift, protective motion, he pushed the elderly man back, keeping him away from Enzo.

Marquis Vlaron clenched his fists, his whole body trembling with fury. Yet, before the Imperial Crown Prince, he dared not utter a word.

"And I believe soone said they disowned just now," Enzo added coldly. "Why not stick to your words for once? I will never marry for politics—not again, at least. I will no longer be a pawn used to obtain the things you desire, Marquis Vlaron. You sold once, I will not be sold twice."

He gently moved Soren aside and took a step forward. His gaze was unwavering, fierce—and for the first ti, his father stepped back, almost afraid of the flicker of anger and resolve burning in the oga’s eyes.

"You will regret this!" Marquis Vlaron roared, his finger trembling as he pointed at Enzo, fury twisting his features.

"Yes, of course," Enzo replied with a bright, mocking smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. "Whenever you predict sothing, the opposite always happens in my life. So... thank you."

"Insolent brat!" Marquis Vlaron spat, his voice shaking with barely contained rage. He turned sharply on his heel, stomping away. The sound of his boots echoed through the marble hall until his figure vanished beyond the corridor.

"We should head back and rest before the bond-breaking procedure begins," Soren suggested, his tone calm but weary.

"You’ll need soone by your side during the process. Who do you want?" Zayden asked, glancing at him.

Enzo stayed silent for a mont, then slowly raised his hand—pointing straight at the silver-haired man.

The three n froze, wide-eyed, stunned by his choice.
