Chapter 245: Debt

As expected, after sending all the souls to the gate of the underworld, Qin An’s body collapsed and he was still in a coma as of now.

The mont when his body wobbled and fell, a flash of a figure quickly appeared and scooped the young man in his arms. He Li used a bit of his ntal energy to catch everyone’s attention before he quickly carried Qin An.

The crowd also ca back to their senses upon seeing the young man being unconscious. They wanted him to the ergency room but He Li instead walked closer to the old tree and gently put the young man under it. He leaned down the young man’s back to the old tree before explaining.

"He must stay close to the old tree so his spiritual energy can be replenished." His eyes lowered a bit while still looking at the unconscious young man. Even in his unconscious state, Qin An’s brows are still frowning and his body is trembling a bit. It seems that the drawback of the spiritual energy had affected him greatly.

Fortunately when his body touched the old peach blossom tree, a gentle energy slowly wrapped around the young man, making his knotted brows ease a bit. Seeing this, He Li stood up and requested an ergency eting with everyone.

The group let the other nurses closely monitor the young man before they went to a private eting room.

"I still can’t believe what happened," the man who kept on sowing discord earlier seems to have co back to his senses from the awe and disbelief of what happened. However there was no contempt for Qin An but instead having felt admiration and mostly grateful to him.

Earlier he saw his friend who sacrificed his life for him. In the past, he was too arrogant and often got into fights with others, thus he has a little circle. But that friend didn’t seem to mind his personality and would still always treat him with kindness.

He of course didn’t believe it. He just thought that maybe he was carrying favor because his family is wealthy and has connections to the military. Maybe the latter only wanted those things like others, not a real friendship.

They were assigned to the sa group and the latter beca popular among others because of his pleasing personality. As for him, who would want to? But since they are now teammates, others also started to mingle with him, although not as close but just enough to be inside a harmonious group.

Later they were sent to a war and fought with the zerg. As he said, he was arrogant. So he didn’t care about others and wanted to confront the enemies when it was clear that his abilities were not enough.

And just as expected, his arrogance put him in a dangerous situation. Just as he thought back then he’d die, that man just appeared and pushed him away from that state. The latter created chaos to attract the zerg and quickly flew away so they wouldn’t focus on him.

After that... he didn’t make it.

The man that keeps on giving him a friendly smile is gone. They weren’t even able to retrieve the man’s body until now.

He also realizes every mistake that he made and tries hard to change himself. He buried those mories from an old comrade because only that way could he move forward.

His heart was full of guilt and regrets from his past actions. Even though it was the latter’s decision, the fact was in front of his eyes.

He saved him.

He really cares about him.

But it’s too late.

He could no longer see him following him nor he could hear the nagging words the latter always gave whenever he fought with others.

His death gave him a rciless wake up call.

There are many tis when he asked himself how he deserved such sacrifices when he never reciprocated his friendship? He hadn’t done any good towards the latter, so how could he do such things?

When he asked others about it, only when he knew about the ’kind’ gesture that he once did for him. It was an ordinary day for him and he was just in a good mood when he went to school, thus when he encountered a situation, he didn’t mind helping at that ti.

It wasn’t about soone getting bullied but instead about the latter being in a tight position to stay in the military academy due to finances. The latter was an orphan and the money he spent ca from the scholarship. He rembered hearing that the latter wanted to ask permission from the school to use the scholarship money for personal use.

Of course the school wouldn’t just agree imdiately with his favor and thus the latter was left no choice but to plead to the higher ups.

At that mont, he was just in a good mood and helped him with what he needed. He didn’t even rember how much money he gave or was it enough for what he was looking for because truthfully, he couldn’t recall and treated that as an ordinary day.

Who would have thought that the latter would treat it as a life saving grace and would do that even at the cost of his life?

But there was no use. That fool had long died because of him.

Earlier, he t him.

He couldn’t even believe what his eyes were seeing but when the latter gave him that familiar foolish smile again, all the walls that he built collapsed and large tears stread down from his face.

He kept on apologizing for what he did. His regrets and all the unspoken feelings he harbored all over the years after his death.

And just like what the latter always did, still giving him that gentle smile and telling him that he never regretted saving him.

But he felt unfit. Just that amount of money and such a small thing of help, how could that compare to his life?

’But it was that money that saved my family.’

It was a short reason but it made him stunned. Over years, he also investigated his background and found the orphanage he was in. That place wasn’t so fortunate to have enough facilities and other needs for all the children. At that ti, the Headmaster of the orphanage announces the lack of funds to maintain the regular inhibitors for the children.

In this era, inhibitors are akin to a lifeline. They are more than just a dicine for everyone. Just by lacking it ans that the children will soon face danger from the ntal pollution. That will seriously affect their lives and many worst things could possibly happen.

But how could they sustain it? There’s always insufficient funds and over ti, that hole keeps on growing that it could no longer protect them.

So everyone in the orphanage keeps on trying their best to find ways to survive and help others.

Because of what he did, the tight situation in the orphanage loosened. And it’s also not just about the money that he gave but because his family is very influential, as soon as others found that he ’donated’, they also tried their ways to follow. This made the donors at that place to be continuous until the situation beca stable.

The orphanage managed to save them from the dangers.

’For , for us, that’s a debt that we will forever carry. Even if that ans nothing to you, what you did saved my family. So it’s only right for to pay that debt.’

He didn’t know what to reply. If it were in the past, he’ll just argue that money and life will never be equal. So what if you have debt? Can’t just just pay it to what it is? How important a life can be, right? But he also understood that it was not within his control.

That debt had long been paid when you made feel seen. With all the smiles that you gave, even if I hadn’t reciprocated.

For the next half an hour, the private room was occupied and it was only until they finally had a unified decision that it ended and they went back outside to check the young man’s condition.

Qin An was still there and the nurses around were monitoring his condition. Fortunately his vital signs are doing alright and his strength is recovering fine even if it was slow.

The other people also began leaving the laboratory because they felt a need to recover from what happened today. Only He Li’s team and family remain with the President Xia Qianchen.

As others were listening to Ji Wen about so other reports, He Li remained still and observed Qin An.

The Marshal’s gaze subtly changed and a look of familiarity flashed on it.

He Li rembered sothing.

An unfamiliar past that he wouldn’t even dare to expect. However, he believed that it was indeed sothing from him.

From his past life.

He Li rembered... that he was once a fallen devil and that young man in front of him was part of the underworld who chained and punished him.

Seeing this made him realize that his feelings were supposed to be hatred towards the young man.. But it was unknown why he couldn’t feel that way.

He Li just couldn’t rember him.
