Chapter 249: A New Hope Or Burden?

Ever since she was young, Nan Xing could clearly rember her dreams every night.

She was always in a wide space with only one large tree in front of her. There was nothing aside from that tree and being as young as she is, she couldn’t help but go close. That large tree has a very wide bark and grayish-brown, signifying its oldness. Its leaves were also not a fresh green like she always saw but rather colored as bright golden-yellow, and the fan-shaped features looked very unique.

Leaves were also scattered down the old tree and as it sways gently, Nan Xing felt like it was waving at her. Feeling an indescribable kindness around it, she didn’t reject it and went even closer before standing right under the tree.

The little girl stared at it intently before unknowingly raising her hand and gently put her palm on the tree. Soon, a gentle wind flashed, brushing her cheeks lightly.

"Are you greeting ?" She asked with her clear voice, carrying the purity and innocence on it. When she felt another wind brushing her again, Nan Xing’s eyes shone brightly because she just felt like it was answering her.

The little girl sat on the ground and curiously picked up the fallen leaf on the ground and stared at it curiously. She caressed the texture of the leaves and looked at its structure intently, wanting to morize every part of its detail because she wanted to ask her parents if they could give her sothing like this or if this type of tree even exists.

Nan Xing stayed at this place for a while until she felt tired circling around the tree. She sat on the ground and leaned herself and yawned, her eyes went misty as she’s feeling sleepy all of the sudden. However, as young as she is, Nan Xing didn’t think much of it and just closed her eyes to doze off peacefully.

At this mont she didn’t notice how a white small light dust coming from the ginkgo tree floated and gradually penetrated the little girl’s body.

As the ti passed, Nan Xing didn’t dream of anything else aside from that scene. It’s just either that or she won’t have any dreams at night. She also tried to tell her family about it but everyone just thought that it was just a common child’s dream and treated it as normal especially since nothing happens after all.

Gradually Nan Xing also beca used to it and treated that dream as her way of coping with things from what’s happening in her reality.

Since she can rember, her parents are always busy as soldiers. They often left ho to serve the country, that’s why she was used to being with her siblings. However even if she understands the situation, how could such a young child not feel hurt and longed for her own parents?

Nan Xing is very sensitive. Because her family didn’t let her feel out from the reality of their parents’ line of work, she had always known so things ever since too young. Yet also due to that sensitivity, she developed being too sensible and not voicing out her feelings and hidden concerns to her family.

What deepened this was when their parents sacrificed their lives and her eldest brother Nan Moyi beca the backbone of the family. Everyone beca too busy coping up and finding ways on how to support the family. Although there was so support from the military, her siblings just also wanted to find ways on distracting themselves from the lost.

She also learned how to beco silent about her worries and tried her best not to let them worry.

When she felt overwheld, Nan Xing would always find herself dreaming about that ginkgo tree again. It was as if every ti she felt breaking down, that tree would always appear to appease her, giving her the comfort that she’s always been longing to have.

And although it wasn’t even talking to her nor doing anything, she will always feel comfort and her feelings will calm down.

Unexpectedly when she visited her eldest brother at his competition, she t soone who’s exactly made her feel the sa way as the ginkgo tree— Qin An.

When she first t the young man, Nan Xing couldn’t take her eyes away from him. Even when the latter has an expressionless face and a cold temperant around him, she didn’t hesitate to go closer and take initiative to even sleep in his arms unguarded.

Furthermore after that, Nan Xing’s dream began to change. If it were in the past where the tree seems to be just an ordinary one, she began noticing unexpected changes to it.

It seems to start moving as if it suddenly beca alive. One ti when she was crying silently under it, sothing touched her cheeks and just how shocked she was when she saw its extending thin branch brushing her tears.

But Nan Xing wasn’t afraid.

Instead of feeling fear because it might be a monster, all she could feel was the warmth and gentleness radiating from it.

In addition, Nan Xing could also start seeing so lights coming from the tree. It would gently land on her and she would feel the pain on her head easing. It was very magical and she wanted to share it with her family but didn’t know how to.

Until her brother gave her a familiar shaped necklace, that fan-shaped jade leaf from the ginkgo tree. Upon seeing it all she wanted to tell them about her dream and such but before she could, she got the chance again to visit the competition and saw Qin An again.

And from the mont she t him again, Nan Xing was left awed.

There was a huge amount of golden and black mist-like light around him. It was such a bizarre and magical aura that she couldn’t help but stare at him with wide eyes.

The latter also looked at her with a gaze that she couldn’t but she instinctively went close and softly called for him before handing the necklace she had.

"B-Brother, give..." She even stamred before backing away and just poke her head from behind her brother’s leg to take a peek.

Nan Xing saw a second of confusion flashed in his eyes before bewildernt seed to strike him.

But what’s the matter?

Qin An looked at the young girl with a complicated gaze. He honestly doesn’t know what’s right to feel at this ti.

Should he feel happy that there’ll be soone who can help him with these challenges occurring or should he feel worried and upset about why fate chose such a young girl to carry the burden of being the only saint?

Since Saints are rare and need protection due to their weak constitution, they are often not allowed to do so many things. They are depraved with freedom and a life where they can be alive.

Although he can understand that it’s just everyone’s way of being anxious and afraid that sothing will happen, he has also seen so downfalls from these Saints who ultimately lost their will to live.

So wanted to escape but couldn’t just because of the guilt of leaving the heavy responsibility, so wanted to reject the ’blessing’, and so were like a wind that lets the world take them wherever they want, feeling just nothing and floating to the abyss of loneliness.

Now such a child was actually chosen to carry this.

Was this really a new hope? Or a burden that will force a child to carry?

Qin An didn’t even want to face this new dilemma right now. Because when the truth cos out, he doesn’t even know how it’ll either destroy a child’s life or make it right.

How will he even start this right?
