Chapter 257: Mrs. Han
It turns out that what happened earlier was not yet inford by the families and they only knew the news of the elimination. So it was not because she was angry that he apologized to Han Suwen... but because he was out of the competition.
"Don’t you rember what I’ve always told you?! You must never be defeated by that bastard! With everything that he does, he must never win!" She shouted.
Han Baiwi tries to explain. "But Mom, he was really better than —"
"So what?!" She suddenly grabbed his arm tightly and he could feel her nail start digging on his flesh. "That bastard must stay in the bottom just as he was born from that bitch! I can accept that anyone is better but not to you! Tell , why didn’t you do better?! Why did he win?! Why are you being a loser again?!"
"..." Han Baiwei felt completely silent at her remarks.
Here she goes again, rambling nonstop when she sees how his brother does better than him. Wasn’t this the case since he was young? For everything that Han Suwen took interest in, his mother would imdiately do everything so he could ’outsmart’ him.
But his interest is very different from Han Suwen. He was never interested in the stage from the beginning, he never liked studying hard, he never liked to join this and that— all of it was forced by his mother and he must do his best to defeat him.
She wanted that wherever Han Suwen goes and try, he must be above so she can belittle him, saying that he belongs below just like how he was just an illegitimate son.
But what happened? When joining the academic competition, because he was not as smart as him she could only secretly bride others so he could win. When presenting sothing she would pay anyone that is more professional and he’ll act as if he’s skilled when he didn’t even do anything. When Han Suwen wanted to join the competition, she hired many teachers to teach him all day and night so he could defeat him on stage.
And look at the results? He was eliminated while Han Suwen still stayed on the top.
Because he can’t do better. He can’t dance or sing better.
Han Baiwei didn’t love the stage enough to stay committed to fulfill what his mother wanted.
He took a deep breath and gently removed her hands on his aching arm. "Mom, can we talk about this at ho? I—"
I’m tired...
He wanted to say that but the latter raised her hand again intending to slap him. Yet when she was about to swing her palm, soone caught her wrist.
It was Han Suwen.
After catching her wrist, the young man quickly threw her off and a disgust flashed on his face while he wiped his hand on his pants as if what he just touched was too dirty.
"Madam is surely careless. Why are you revealing your true nature here? Did you forget that you were supposed to be a delicate flower?" Han Suwen sarcastically said.
Mrs. Han glared at him. "I don’t want to see you! Get out of my face!"
"Unfortunately I could not." Han Suwen smirks. "Did you forget that I’m not eliminated? So naturally I have to stay. If there’s soone that needs to leave, who is it, hmm?"
His mother’s face turned red as the truth was slapped again on her face. That it was her son who lost to this bastard.
"Enough! Don’t be too cocky. I’m sure that you won’t win anyway. I’ll make sure of it!"
"Go on." The young man isn’t afraid. "I’m also sure that if the world knows how your Han family uses such disgusting ways to manipulate things, it will ruin the reputation that you sustain."
Han Suwen felt he had enough of staying silent. When he saw his mother, he just felt relieved and wanted to fight back. Whatever may happen to him he knew that he has now a ho with her.
"If I were you, I’d just go ho and be a flower. After all, no one would like his delicate wife to make a ss outside. What if ’father’," he deliberately emphasizes the word father to strike her nerves. " — will know your face? Will you just cry in the corner again if he’ll find another?"
The ntion of another that ca from soone that ca from the ’another’ that his husband found totally enraged her. She raised her hand and didn’t hesitate to swing it towards his face.
Unfortunately Han Baiwei suddenly stepped forward and her hard slap landed on his face again.
"Weiwei!" She gasped and was about to feel worried when in the next second, her own son’s words completely snapped her out.
"Mom, don’t hurt my brother anymore—"
"Brother?!" She was totally flabbergasted at what she heard. "You called this bastard your brother?!"
"Mom, please can we just go ho—"
"No!" Now she was even more enraged and faced Han Suwen. "What did you do to my son?! How did he end up saying that?! You manipulate him! Disgusting!"
She wanted to lash out but Han Baiwei quickly held her arms to calm. "Mom! That’s enough! Please, let’s just leave here!"
"You! You are really just like your slutty mother! That whore seduced my husband and look at what you did to my son! You shouldn’t have been in our lives! You should have just stayed with that slut to be a slave so you can watch how your mother being played by everyone just like how she truly is—"
"Mother!" Han Baiwei couldn’t take it anymore and shouted at his mother to stop her words. Han Suwen’s face turned black and he just wanted everything to stop.
"Weiwei, don’t stop !"
"Mom, stop it!"
"I said no! This bastard must understand what is his mother—"
"Mom, if you think that’s his mother then what about you?" he snapped.
"What are you saying?! What about , huh?!" His mother looks shocked. "I’m not like that slut!"
"Yeah you didn’t beco a mistress... but I think you’re more evil, mother." Han Baiwei felt a rush of exhaustion dropping all over him at this mont. He just couldn’t take everything like this anymore.
"Mom, where’s your anger really coming from? From them? Or you just want to vent because you lose?" There was no longer any brightness lingering at his eyes as his heart grew heavier.
"You’re not really that angry to them more than to my father, right? Because you ca from a prominent background and thought that father must be devoted to you, but you were deceived. It turns out that he was more than a philandering bastard he is. Mom, why are you so angry at her when in fact he has more than a mistress? At least she left and didn’t bother you unlike his other mistresses, right?"
"Y-You..." Mrs. Han was speechless at his son’s blunt words.
"Or are you too just angry because you can’t be like her?"
"W-What?" Her eyes widened. "I will never be like her—"
"But she succeeded in leaving father unlike you." Han Baiwei’s face turned stoic as he laid facts that she’s been avoiding ever since. "She was not tied to a husband like dad. She had the courage to leave even if it ans she’ll have nothing. Unlike you. Because you can’t leave. Why? Isn’t it because you are a coward? Not leaving soone who treated you like trash just because of that pride of yours? Mom, you think being the legal wife would make you a winner? You thought that at least you have the title and deceived yourself that you’re the most pitiful victim?" He shook his head in dismay.
"Seeing my brother not reminds you of my father’s adultery but just rembering the woman that you envied, right?"
So what if Han Suwen’s mother ca from that place? It was his father who paid willingly and she was not even expecting that she’ll get pregnant. Whose fault is this? Her husband of course betrayed her. He was the one who initiated everything. So why put anger on other people?
Han Baiwei realizes everything after seeing his mother’s hatred.
She was angry at herself. Not others. She envied his mother because she didn’t care about his lavish wealth and would rather survive at the bottom than staying.
Thus she needs to stop lashing at others anymore. She needs to wake up and face what she really felt— her reality.
