Adrian let out a soft breath, nodding against his skin. "Alright, baby."
With the threat downstairs finally put to rest, Adrian shifted slightly in Matteo’s arms. His expression grew hesitant as he thought back to everything that had happened in the hallway while Matteo was away.
"Hey, babe..." he began softly.
Matteo glanced down at him. "Hmm?"
Adrian hesitated for a mont before finally opening up.
"While you were downstairs, Kevin said so things that really bothered ."
He went on to explain the entire conversation, from Kevin’s suggestion about staying in the master bedroom to the warning Adrian had given him in return.
By the ti he finished, Adrian’s face was twisted with obvious displeasure.
"I know he’s your friend," he admitted, his voice filled with pure distaste. "But I really don’t like the idea of him staying here with us. At all."
Matteo’s expression hardened for the briefest mont at the mory of Kevin’s request.
He didn’t like it. Not even a little.
Still, he quickly pushed his irritation aside. Adrian was already upset, and Matteo had no intention of making him feel even more uncomfortable in his own ho.
Instead, he focused all of his attention on Adrian and gently tried to calm him.
"I’m sorry he said that to you, babe," Matteo murmured, his hand moving in slow, soothing circles across Adrian’s back. "Try not to think about it too much. He won’t be here for long, and once he’s gone, I will never let him co here again. I an it."
He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to Adrian’s forehead.
"Just be patient with for a little while, okay?"
Hearing the reassurance and feeling the solid, protective warmth of his boyfriend’s arms, Adrian finally let the tension leave his body. He nodded, completely satisfied with the explanation, and pressed a soft kiss to Matteo’s chest.
With everything finally sorted out and the estate returning to its peaceful silence, Matteo held Adrian tightly against his heart, and they both finally closed their eyes, drifting off into a deep, uninterrupted sleep.
The next morning, the estate was peaceful, as if the chaos of the previous night had never happened.
Adrian had a follow-up appointnt with his doctor at four o’clock that afternoon to check on his recovery. With several hours to spare before then, he decided to go out and indulge in a little retail therapy.
Since Matteo had strictly forbidden him from returning to his own place, he was temporarily stuck living at the estate. Not that he minded. If anything, it gave him the perfect excuse to spend the morning shopping and getting out of the house for a while.
Downstairs in the main living area, Matteo was sitting with Kevin, casually going over so business papers.
The quiet room was interrupted by the soft sound of footsteps as Adrian ca downstairs. He walked straight over to Matteo, stepping in front of his chair with a beautiful, spoiled pout on his face. "Baby," he whined softly, leaning down slightly.
Matteo looked up from his papers imdiately, his gaze instantly softening as his focus shifted entirely to his partner. "Yes, love?"
Adrian couldn’t help but smile, his eyes sparkling as he looked down at him. The sight was infectious, causing a warm, genuine smile to break across Matteo’s face before the boss even knew what he was smiling about. "Talk to ," Matteo murmured, reaching out to touch his waist. "What do you need to do? Do you need sothing, or do you just want my attention?"
Adrian grinned, rocking back on his heels. "I wanted to ask... can you tell your n to take shopping? And..." He offered a sweet, bashful smile, tilting his head. "Can you give so money, too?"
Matteo froze, looking up at him in utter surprise. He stared at Adrian for a long mont, completely caught off guard. In all the ti they had been together, Adrian had never once asked him for a single di, always fiercely independent.
Misinterpreting the silent stare, Adrian imdiately thought Matteo was hesitant or didn’t want to give it to him. His cheeks flushed, and he quickly began to explain himself. "I an... my wallet is still over at my house, so I don’t have any of my cards, and—"
Matteo didn’t let him finish. He stood up from his chair, wrapped his arms around Adrian’s waist, and pulled him flush against his chest, cutting off his rambling with a deep, reassuring kiss.
When he pulled back, Matteo smiled gently into his eyes. "You don’t have to explain anything to , Rian. I’m actually glad you asked. I was just surprised because you’ve never asked for sothing like this before."
Adrian’s anxiety lted away, a bright, beautiful smile taking its place as he looked back at his boyfriend.
Matteo reached into his back pocket, pulled out his sleek leather wallet, and slipped a heavy, matte-black card from one of the slots. He pressed the black card directly into Adrian’s palm. "Take this. It’s unlimited. Get whatever you want, spend as much as you want, and buy out the whole mall if it pleases you. I won’t complain about a single cent."
Adrian looked down at the legendary card in his hand, his heart fluttering. He looked back up, throwing his arms around Matteo’s neck to press a grateful, loving kiss to his lips. "Thank you, baby."
Sitting across from them on the sofa, Kevin watched the entire exchange, a bitter, cynical chuckle escaping his lips as he shook his head.
Matteo ignored him entirely, keeping his eyes on Adrian. "I’ll have Tony co along with you and handle the security detail today. He’ll keep you safe."
Adrian nodded happily. "Okay, babe."
Matteo leaned down, whispering a few quick details and instructions into Adrian’s ear about how to use the private card. Once he was done, Adrian turned his head slightly, locking eyes with Kevin for a brief second. With a dramatic, dismissive roll of his eyes, Adrian turned on his heel and confidently walked away.
The mont Adrian left, Matteo pulled out his phone and quickly sent Tony a ssage, instructing him to make sure Adrian was heavily protected while he was out. Once the text was sent, he slipped the device back into his pocket.
A fond smile still lingered on Matteo’s lips as he thought about Adrian’s request. The fact that his boyfriend had actually asked him for sothing had made him far happier than he cared to admit.
"Did you seriously just hand him your black card like that?" Kevin’s voice suddenly cut through the room, dripping with disbelief.
The warmth vanished from Matteo’s face instantly.
The smile that had been there monts ago died completely, leaving behind the cold, lethal expression that had made countless n fear him.
"Did you not hear what I just said?" he asked quietly. "That was the first ti he’s ever asked for sothing."
His eyes narrowed. "I’ll give him my black card today, tomorrow, and every day after that if it makes him happy."
A dangerous edge entered his voice. "What happens between and my man is none of your business."
Kevin scoffed, throwing his hands up in frustration. "Are you out of your mind, Matteo? You just gave a guy your unlimited card without a second thought. What if he takes your money and runs away?"
Matteo stared at him, his gaze completely deadpan, unbothered by the ridiculous accusation. A cold, mocking smirk touched his lips.
"Then let him run away," Matteo replied flatly, his voice echoing with absolute authority. "It’s my money, and it’s my problem. How the fuck does that affect you?"
Kevin froze...
