Sensing the sharp shift in Adrian’s energy, Tony focused his full attention on him. His posture straightened, and his gaze locked onto Adrian’s eyes.
"What is it you want to say?" he asked.
Adrian leaned in slightly, his expression turning serious.
"It’s about that Kevin guy."
Tony raised an eyebrow. "What about him?"
Adrian hesitated for a mont before speaking.
"Sothing about him just doesn’t sit right with ," he admitted. "Tell honestly, Tony. What do you think about him?"
Tony remained silent, waiting for him to continue.
"I know how you are," Adrian said. "You care about Matteo more than almost anyone. Not just Matteo, but everyone connected to him. You’re always watching, always paying attention. I’m willing to bet that the mont Kevin arrived at the estate, you had soone run a full background check on him."
Tony’s expression remained unreadable.
Adrian held Tony’s gaze.
"So I just want the truth. Is Kevin genuinely Matteo’s friend or is he the kind of person who could beco a problem?"
For a few seconds, neither of them spoke.
Then Adrian added quietly, "Because I can’t explain it, Tony. Maybe it’s just my instincts, but every ti I look at him, sothing feels off."
A faint smile touched Tony’s lips as he stared back at Adrian. "I can see you’re actually quite smart, and not just a pretty face." He paused, leaning back slightly. "You’re right about everything you just said. But you have Matteo, so you have absolutely nothing to worry about. He will protect you."
"But I am worried," Adrian pressed, refusing to let the matter drop. "I just want to know the truth. Is he a good friend, or a dangerous one?"
Tony studied him for a silent beat. "You really want to know?"
Adrian nodded quickly. "Yes."
"Kevin might be stupid enough to have walked right into Matteo’s house," Tony said, lowering his voice into a sharp whisper, "but I should tell you... He is dangerous."
"What?" Adrian exclaid, staring at him in disbelief. "Dangerous? Tony, if that’s true, I need to tell Matteo imdiately!"
"Don’t bother," Tony cut in smoothly. "He already knows."
Adrian blinked in surprise before leaning closer. "Then can you at least tell everything?" he asked. "I want to know exactly what’s going on."
Tony shook his head. "I’m sorry, but I can’t do that. What I can tell you is this: whatever Kevin ca here to accomplish, he won’t succeed."
A faint edge of confidence entered his voice. "Matteo is always several steps ahead of everyone else."
Adrian’s chest tightened with anxiety, but before he could say another word, Tony pinned him with a stern look.
"If Matteo suspects that this conversation ca from ," Tony warned, his voice low and firm, "you’ll never get another piece of information out of again."
Understanding exactly how serious he was, Adrian imdiately masked his concern and slipped back into his usual relaxed deanor.
A second later, the waiter arrived with their food, perfectly timing the end of the conversation.
They finished their al in relative silence and headed straight back to the estate.
When they walked through the front doors, Matteo was nowhere to be seen in the main living room. Instead, Kevin was just on his way upstairs. The mont Kevin saw Adrian walk in, a slick smile crossed his face. He quickly turned around and hurried down the steps toward him.
"Hey, how was your shopping?" Kevin asked smoothly. He stepped entirely too close, reaching out in a completely inappropriate, familiar manner under the guise of wanting to help Adrian carry his designer shopping bags. His hand moved toward Adrian’s waist.
Before Tony could even step in to react, Adrian violently shoved Kevin’s hands away. "Stay the fuck away from !" Adrian shouted, his voice echoing through the foyer. "I didn’t ask for your help!"
Without waiting for Kevin’s response, Adrian rushed past him, running up the stairs straight to the master suite. Matteo was sitting at his desk working when the door suddenly burst open. He looked up, startled by the sheer force of the entrance, as Adrian marched straight past him, threw himself onto the mattress, and curled up in a ball, visibly radiating pure anger.
Matteo quickly stood up from his desk and rushed over to the edge of the bed, his brow furrowing with concern. "Babe, what’s wrong? What happened?"
Adrian sat up abruptly. Tony’s strict warning flashed in his mind, reminding him to keep the secret. He fiercely clamped down on his tongue regarding Kevin’s background, but he couldn’t hide his imdiate frustration.
"It’s Kevin!" Adrian burst out. "I don’t know what is wrong with that man, but I absolutely cannot stand him. I don’t want him anywhere near , Matteo. I don’t like him. I really, really don’t like him—"
Matteo didn’t let him finish his rant. He imdiately climbed onto the bed, wrapping his arms around Adrian to pull him into a soothing embrace. "Hey, it’s okay. Shh, I’ve got you. I will personally warn him to stay away from you. Don’t let him stress you out, hmm? Co on, baby... tell about your shopping. How did it go?"
The tender distraction worked. A soft smile broke through Adrian’s anger. Just then, a couple of maids brought in all the designer shopping bags, lining them up against the wall.
Matteo’s eyebrows shot up as he took in the massive haul. "Wow, babe," he said, looking over the mountain of shopping bags. "You bought a lot. Is all of this really for you?"
Adrian giggled softly, leaning against Matteo’s chest. "No, baby. I got a lot of things for you, too."
Matteo’s face lit up with a warm smile. "Oh, thank you, baby."
They spent the next hour sitting together on the bed, checking through everything one by one. Matteo admired the colorful shirts Adrian had picked out for him, deeply amused and pleased by the selection. Once they were finished, Matteo called Selene upstairs to properly unpack and arrange the new items into their walk-in closet.
Finally, 4:00 PM arrived, and Matteo accompanied Adrian to the hospital for his scheduled appointnt. After a thorough examination, the doctor sat across from them, reviewing the charts.
"The good news is, you are recovering beautifully," the doctor stated with a warm nod. "But you still need to rest as much as possible. Absolutely no heavy strain, and make sure you aren’t stressing your eyes out."
Adrian shifted eagerly in his seat, leaning forward with a completely shaless grin. "Doctor... can we finally resu our bedroom activities?"
Matteo snapped his head toward Adrian, his eyes widening slightly at his partner’s absolute lack of filter.
The doctor looked between the two n, clearing his throat with a bit of visible hesitation. "Well... yes, but you must be incredibly careful. Absolutely nothing rough," he explained carefully. "To be completely honest, it would be best if you waited at least one more week until our next follow-up. But if you simply cannot wait, you have to be exceptionally gentle."
Adrian bead, completely ecstatic. "Okay, doctor! We will be very careful."
While Adrian was practically vibrating with excitent on the ride back to the estate, Matteo remained entirely silent, his expression heavy and unreadable.
Adrian noticed the brooding mood and nudged his shoulder. "What’s wrong, babe?"
"Nothing, love," Matteo replied, staring out the window.
The mont they stepped back inside the privacy of their bedroom, Adrian didn’t waste a single second. He wrapped his arms around Matteo’s neck, imdiately demanding that they have sex.
But Matteo gently removed Adrian’s hands, stepping back. "Babe, the doctor said we should wait one more week. I want to hear that you have fully, one hundred percent recovered before we do anything."
"But the doctor said we can do it!" Adrian argued, a frustrated whine entering his voice. "He only said we have to be careful!"
"Adrian, I haven’t touched you in two whole months," Matteo said, his voice rough with restraint as he looked at him with remarkable self-control.
"How the hell do you expect to be gentle? If I get inside you right now, I won’t be able to hold back. I would rather not do it at all than risk hurting you. Let’s just wait until the next appointnt. Please, babe. I want the doctor to say you are entirely cleared, not give us a hesitant ’yes’ like he did today."
"Babe, but—"
"Enough," Matteo commanded, his tone leaving no room for negotiation. "We are not doing anything until the doctor gives us the absolute green light."
Adrian tried to argue, but looking into Matteo’s strictly protective eyes, he knew it was a losing battle. He understood that Matteo only valued his health and safety above everything else, so he reluctantly shut his mouth, crossing his arms in a silent, disappointed pout.
Sighing heavily, Matteo turned and stepped out of the bedroom to give Adrian so space, heading downstairs to clear his head.
Adrian sat alone on the edge of the grand bed, feeling sad and incredibly frustrated for a while. After a few minutes of wallowing in his disappointnt, he decided to head downstairs to find his boyfriend.
But when he reached the main living room, Matteo was nowhere to be found. The only people there were a few guards and Kevin, who was lounging comfortably on the sofa.
Adrian’s brow furrowed. He turned to one of the nearby guards. "Where is Matteo?"
Before the guard could answer, Kevin chid in, a cruel, mocking smirk plastered across his face. "Oh, he went out."
Adrian turned, a wave of anger crashing over him. Why the hell would Matteo leave the house without saying a single word to him?
But Kevin’s voice stopped him before he could march away.
"Matteo left because he said soone is completely boring in bed," Kevin taunted, his voice dripping with malice as he leaned forward. "He said the hospital results ca back, and the way you have to be handled doesn’t satisfy him at all. He said he couldn’t stand being in the sa room with soone so fragile, and he couldn’t wait any longer."
Matteo said. "He needed to go out and satisfy his real needs. I an, it makes sense, doesn’t it? Your boyfriend basically told you’re incredibly lazy in bed, that you can’t handle intense sex, and he just couldn’t cope with the doctor’s restrictive report. So, he already left to go find soone better who can actually take it."
Adrian froze, his blood turning to pure ice as he stared at Kevin. The sheer audacity of the lie was so outrageous that, for a mont, he couldn’t even speak.
When he finally found his voice, it was tight with anger.
"You are completely insane."
Without giving Kevin another second of his ti, Adrian pulled out his phone and quickly dialed Matteo’s private number. Then he turned on his heel and stord back upstairs...
