As for the talk about the in-laws going to Guangcheng for a wedding banquet together, Cheng Su wasn’t too surprised. Her father-in-law wasn’t going, but her mother-in-law certainly wouldn’t want to miss this opportunity.
"It’s November already, and there’s nothing much happening at ho. Your mother-in-law insists on going out to see the big world. I couldn’t argue with her, so she’s going," Father Qi explained.
"That’s only right. You two have worked hard for most of your life. Now the kids who should be settled are settled. Jianguo and Fengping are both in college. It’s ti for you to enjoy life, and it’s good to go out and explore when you have the ti," Cheng Su said with a smile.
"That’s exactly what I think. We’ve worked hard all our lives, and the furthest place we’ve been to is Qing City. There’s nothing wrong with going a bit farther to see the world," Mother Qi said and then asked, "Is Xiao Qi still not awake?"
They had just sat down for five minutes, and she was already eager to see her grandson, but the child was sleeping.
"He just fell asleep not long ago."
"I’ll go in and have a look at him. It’s been months since I’ve seen him, and I’ve missed him a lot!" Mother Qi stood up.
Father Qi pulled her back, "Look at you, so impatient! He just fell asleep, why wake him up? He’ll cry when he’s woken up from a shallow sleep."
Mother Qi said sheepishly, "I’ll be quiet, how could I wake him up?" She added, "Can I at least take a peek from the door?"
Seeing this, Cheng Su felt a softness in her heart and said, "Mom, go ahead and take a look. Just be really quiet. This little guy is getting bigger and has quite a temper. If he doesn’t get enough sleep, he’ll make a fuss!"
"Oh, oh," Mother Qi, delighted as if she had received a royal decree, imdiately walked over.
Cheng Su sat down and started chatting with Father Cheng and Father Qi.
"Why didn’t you bring Xiao Bao along?" Cheng Su asked while pouring tea for her father-in-law, referring to Qi Fenglian’s son.
"Your elder sister said she missed him and wanted to spend a few days with him so we could enjoy ourselves. So at the train station, we let his mom take him with her," Father Qi replied.
Cheng Su smiled and said, "That’s also good. I see that Elder Sister’s good news is coming soon. I fear you won’t have to look after him next year either!"
Currently, Qi Fenglian is seeing soone nad Chu Changxing, and he doesn’t mind that she has two children. They both said they’re just forming a family and keeping each other company. Whether they have more children doesn’t matter as his son is already grown, and Qi Fenglian has a son herself.
Father Qi, having heard bits and pieces about Qi Fenglian seeing soone but never having t him, asked his daughter-in-law, "Have you seen him? What’s he like? Is he good?"
Just then, Mother Qi tread lightly out of the room, smiling brightly, "Oh my, our Xiao Qi is really adorable. He’s so fair and tender, and his little face is so soft, just like a little bun. It’s truly delightful. I think his skin takes after his mom!"
They were just discussing Qi Fenglian’s good news when Mother Qi interrupted. Father Qi wanted to chide her, but upon hearing her words, he said, "Otherwise, you’re always worried at ho. Wouldn’t the daughter-in-law and the in-laws take good care of him?"
Mother Qi chuckled and said, "That’s my grandson. How could I not think about him?"
Father Qi snorted.
Father Cheng chid in, "It’s normal to think about him. As a grandfather, I miss him a lot too."
Mother Qi, finding an ally, quickly gave Father Qi a look that said, "See?"
Father Qi ignored her and, recalling the earlier conversation, asked Cheng Su again.
"He’s quite honest. Not very wealthy, but living together wouldn’t be a problem," Cheng Su thought and said, "Since you two are here, why not invite Sister and him over for dinner at our place tonight and et him?"
