Returning ho from the agricultural market, just as she was going upstairs, Cheng Su and Mother Cheng heard the loud cries of Qi Xiaoqi. Mother Cheng said, "No doubt, your mother-in-law must be insisting on holding Xiao Qi, making him unhappy again."
Cheng Su chuckled, walked through the door, and as expected, Mother Qi was holding Qi Xiaoqi while she walked. The child cried pitifully, and Father Qi was persuading her to give the child to him, but Mother Qi was unwilling to let go.
"Awake now?" Cheng Su put down her things and walked over.
Upon seeing her return, Mother Qi looked a bit sheepish, as if trying to cover up: "Just woke up, maybe he didn’t sleep enough, crying hard."
Cheng Su didn’t expose her and said, "He might be hungry, I’ll feed him so milk."
Regardless of her reluctance, Mother Qi had to hand the child over to Cheng Su. Seeing Cheng Su, Qi Xiaoqi pouted with grievance, sobbing intermittently, making others feel compassionate.
Once handed over, he stopped crying. Mother Qi felt more awkward and a bit sour: "After all, he’s close to his mother. This child, whoever takes care of him more, that’s who he’ll be close to." Not ntioning it was because of her.

Everyone remained silent, Cheng Su took the child to breastfeed, while Mother Cheng prepared dinner. To break the awkwardness, Mother Qi joined her in the kitchen.
Cheng Su hadn’t cooked for a while. With Elder Sister bringing her partner over and the in-laws visiting, once Qi Xiaoqi was fed, she placed him with her father-in-law and went to the kitchen herself, rolling up her sleeves to cook.
"Mom, your legs aren’t fully recovered, why don’t you sit down, I’ll handle this." Cheng Su said to Mother Qi.
Mother Qi heard this, but preferred watching her grandson, so she comfortably went to do so.
Joking, this was only her second ti seeing her grandson after all, especially since he was so adorable, never getting tired of looking at him.
"Certainly shows no formality, putting up the posture of a mother-in-law." Mother Cheng muttered while washing the vegetables at the sink.
"Mom, stop saying that, walls have ears." Cheng Su chuckled and said, "You’ve been working hard these months, why don’t you go to the living room and watch TV, chat with Dad too, I’ll make tonight’s dinner."
Mother Cheng listened, and after washing the vegetables, handed over the main stage to her daughter, she also went into the living room.
Despite spending a year giving birth and raising a child, Cheng Su’s cooking skills remained sharp. She washed and chopped, her hands were quick, and not long after, the ingredients were ready.
Being soone who never compromises on her life, particularly when it cos to food, she was ticulous. For the braised lamb, she first used cooking wine and tangerine peel to remove the gay taste, then sautéed ginger and garlic for fragrance, before adding the lamb, with cinnamon, star anise, and small sugarcane for simring, filling the kitchen with aroma.
Sister-in-law Song also ca over to cook, slling the fragrance, she stepped closer with a smile, seeing Cheng Su use oil generously, she couldn’t help but gasp.
Thinking to herself, truly soone wealthy, willing to use so much oil.
Not knowing, even if Cheng Su wasn’t wealthy, she would certainly still use plenty of oil, as it was all for the deliciousness of the dish.
Cheng Su covered the pot to simr, while chatting with Sister-in-law Song, anwhile preparing other ingredients for the hot pot.
"Such a big pot of lamb, seems like you have a lot of people over today!" Sister-in-law Song remarked.
"Indeed, my in-laws and my dad are here, and Elder Sister’s group will arrive later, with so many family mbers, I fear there won’t be enough food." Cheng Su replied with a smile, so she also bought crispy fish fillets, known for their freshness when combined with lamb, as well as atballs, prawns, and so on.
Even wine, she bought two bottles, for the few n to enjoy leisurely.
