The next day, Sister Wang delivered the pineapples that Cheng Su had ordered, bringing a full load on a small tricycle. After parking it, she instructed the driver to help carry the pineapples into the restaurant, while she herself pulled Cheng Su aside to chat.
Seeing her rosy and spirited complexion, with a smile on her face, the sorrow that was evident when they first t was nowhere to be found, Cheng Su said with a smile, "It seems that recently you’ve been in a good mood, Sister. Your complexion is much prettier now."
"Suxin, thanks to your suggestion back then, my family can now have good days ahead. You’re the Wang family’s significant benefactor!" Sister Wang emotionally held Cheng Su’s hand.
Cheng Su raised an eyebrow.
"You ntioned last ti that we should beco pineapple wholesalers. I had my doubts then. Could it really succeed? We were so poor that we had no other choice. The adults might go hungry, but the children need to eat, so I grit my teeth and did it. Who would have known it would actually work out?" Sister Wang said excitedly, "We did just as you suggested, buying pineapples from the villagers at a low price and selling them on. And strangely, the buyers for these pineapples just seed to appear out of nowhere, demanding in large quantities. By reselling, we make ten cents profit per pound, which is even more than we used to make from the restaurant!"
Cheng Su smiled and asked, "Did a food company find you?"
Sister Wang slapped her thigh, "Oh my, that’s amazing, how did you know?"
Of course, she knew. Ever since Wan Fuyu ca yesterday, talking about the newly introduced jam, she knew there would be other food companies following the trend to make pineapple jam. Consequently, they would need pineapple as an ingredient, and naturally, they would turn to the holand of pineapples.
"Anyway, now our village’s pineapples are much more sought-after than before. They used to rot in the fields, but now with big companies buying them, they’ve suddenly beco valuable and there’s no worry they won’t sell," Sister Wang said cheerfully.
"Is this a rented tricycle you used for the delivery?" Cheng Su asked, gesturing toward the tricycle.
Sister Wang nodded and said, "My husband said that once we make enough money, we’ll buy our own vehicle for deliveries. Right now, we already have a few regular custors. I’m thinking, if we do it ourselves and hustle a bit, visiting more custors, we can hire so help when the conditions are right."
"You could hire soone now," Cheng Su suggested with a smile. "Just recruit a salesperson. Based on how many orders they land, pay them a commission of one or two, maybe three percent; the harder they work, the more they earn. The more people you have, the more leads you’ll get. Relying solely on yourselves, in the end, won’t your abilities be limited?"
After thinking it over, Sister Wang said, "You’re right. I’ll discuss it with my husband later. Anyway, thank you so much."
"What’s there to thank for? I just gave a little verbal advice. This is all thanks to yours and Brother Wang’s intelligence and hard work," Cheng Su replied modestly.
"Don’t argue with . You’re a benefactor to our Wang family, no doubt about it," Sister Wang insisted, holding her hand and looking around. "This restaurant really looks quite nice after your makeover. It’s much better than before."
A feeling of alarm struck Cheng Suxin’s heart. She asked with a forced smile, "Hearing you say that makes very nervous. Sister, please don’t tell you’re planning to take back the restaurant and not let run it anymore."
Sister Wang clicked her tongue and reproached with a frown, "What are you talking about? If I did that, wouldn’t I be an ungrateful wretch? How could anyone act like that? You have also helped our family a lot. Besides, even if I take back the restaurant, what could I do with it? Isn’t it great as it is now? Plus, we’ve already signed an agreent!"
Cheng Su let out a sigh of relief and complinted, "Don’t worry, things will only get better and better. Who knows, maybe one day you’ll beco the top pineapple wholesaler and look down on this humble restaurant!"
