As soon as the word "hospital" was ntioned, Mother Zhang’s eyes spun faster than a top. Anyone could tell she was hiding sothing.
Mother Zhang, however, pretended to be calm and looked away. "Hospital? What hospital? It’s the New Year, why ntion a hospital? You better not be cursing our family. Just because there’s soone in the Qi family doesn’t an there’s no one in the Zhang family."
"Pfft! Cursing you? You old woman, with no good intentions, raised a heartless son who fools around outside, married a tigress, and now has a sick son. This is the Zhang family’s retribution, karma falling on the child because of your misdeeds!" Qi Fengping jumped up. "Don’t think you can fool us to bring Baobao back to do such shaful things. You old hag, that’s your own grandson. I don’t expect you to cherish him, but at least treat him like a person. Doing sneaky, underhanded things, have you no sha?"
Mother Zhang was so angry her eyes turned white. She pointed at Qi Fengping and cursed back, "You little slut, who are you calling shaless? You got yourself pregnant by seducing n at such a young age, that’s shaless. Don’t think that just because you went to college, you are worth anything. You’re just a cheap woman, indeed..."
"You old witch, I’m going to tear that filthy mouth of yours!" Qi Fengping made a move to charge forward.
"Fengping!" Cheng Su stopped her and said, "Baobao first!" What’s the point of arguing now when the child is suffering sowhere?
"Tell , did you take Baobao to the hospital? Which hospital?" Cheng Su looked toward Mother Zhang again.
"No such thing, he was taken to his stepmother’s to play. He’ll be back in a few days!" Mother Zhang stubbornly denied.
What a flimsy excuse, no one would believe it. They promised to bring him back for the New Year, and now he’s playing at his stepmother’s? Pfft!
"Do you dare to swear? If you’re lying, may the Zhang family be cursed with no offspring!" Cheng Su sneered and glared at her.
Mother Zhang’s expression changed again. "You, how can you have such a venomous mouth? Who are you cursing?"
"I advise you to speak up, or if anything happens to Baobao, the Zhang family won’t have any peace!" Cheng Su thought for a mont and added, "Your grandson has leukemia, right? It’s a serious illness, if it’s not treated well... Humph. Are you still planning to use Baobao as a match?"
This was Cheng Su bluffing. Bone marrow transplants can succeed, but she was counting on Mother Zhang’s ignorance to intimidate her.
Sure enough, Mother Zhang’s face turned pale.
"Just speak up, they’re all the sa grandchild, all with half the Zhang blood. You can’t be so biased!" Father Qi was worried sick.
Mother Zhang turned her head away, stubbornly refusing to speak. "I don’t know."
Qi Jianguo got angry and raised his fist to hit, scaring Mother Zhang into screaming, shouting about being beaten and killed.
Cheng Su stopped him and said, "Let’s go to the county. If he’s not in the county, we can still find out from there!"
Without further delay, the group left. Qi Fengping, still furious, spat at the old hag’s face and, seeing people around watching the commotion, said, "Look at this heartless family. Their favored grandson is sick, and they’re dragging the eldest grandson for a transplant without telling us. Bias, no conscience!"
The crowd was shocked, pointing and whispering.
Mother Zhang, ashad, ran inside to hide.
Cheng Su looked on and asked if anyone knew which hospital the Zhang family’s child was being treated at. It was a matter concerning the child’s health and life, hoping soone with knowledge would speak up.
Soone said, "If it’s leukemia, our county doesn’t have the facilities for that, probably in the city."
Cheng Su thanked them, and the group hurried off again.
