Qi Taiguo was supported back to the front of the dormitory and saw someone pulling at something. Upon closer inspection, it was the woman he had rescued during the mission gesturing, with a young soldier blocking her.

The woman turned immediately at the sound and bit her lip upon seeing Qi Taiguo.

“It’s not his fault; I wanted to e,” the woman hurriedly interrupted the young soldier, glancing at Qi Taiguo’s bandaged leg, “I’ve e to tell you that I’m leaving.”
Qi Taiguo responded with an “Oh.”
Many of the stowaways had already been deported earlier, yet this woman had dragged on until now.
Seeing his indifferent attitude, the woman said, “I also want to thank you for saving my life. Additionally, though I’m sorry, I caused you to get injured.”
She bit her lip, her young face full of guilt.
“No need to thank me; it’s our military duty. If you’ve decided, then leave. Remember, life is the most important thing. Without life, nothing else matters. By living, everything bees possible, and there’s hope,” Qi Taiguo said calmly.
The woman’s throat choked up, tears welled up, and she couldn’t speak. After a long while, she reluctantly said, “I, I didn’t do it intentionally. It’s just that it feels so unfair. Everything I suffered on the ship, the way those people treated me… I was just a little short of reaching the other side, got intercepted, and felt everything was in vain. The woman stood straight after a long time, looked at the closed door for a while, and then left.
Living is more important than anything; living gives hope.
These words became a lifelong good advice that she could never forget and continued to support her through one low point after another.
Qi Taiguo returned to the room, and the messenger poured him a cup of water before leaving after ensuring he didn’t need anything else.
He slowly moved to the bed to sit down. With his leg injured, he needed to rest for the next few days and couldn’t do any high-intensity training. So he picked up a book he usually read and flipped it open.
After turning a few pages, his thoughts drifted away from the text and to Cheng Su and her child.
Qi Taiguo glanced at the calendar hanging on the wall. It was almost September; they should be going back, right? School was about to start.
His eyes fell to his leg again, and he chuckled inwardly, thinking if Cheng Su knew he was injured, she’d probably cry her heart out.
That woman… he really missed her!
Cheng Su sneezed a few times, touched her nose, and said to Qi Xiaoqi, “Could it be that your dad is thinking about us? I’m sneezing a lot.”
Qi Xiaoqi glanced at her; he’s thinking about you, how could he be thinking about me?
He turned his gaze to the scenery outside the train, his expression indifferent.
