Cheng Su quickly found out from Mother Cheng that she plans to return to her hometown, leaving her mother-in-law to take care of Qi Xiaoqi, and her eyebrows knitted together.
"Did my mother-in-law suggest this?" She asked Mother Cheng.
Mother Cheng wanted to say no, but seeing Cheng Su’s knowing expression, she couldn’t say anything and simply nodded, saying, "She first talked to your dad, then your dad talked to me, and even wanted me to discuss it nicely with you!"
Cheng Su smiled: "Turns out you guessed it right."
The mother and daughter exchanged a look, both showing a half-sarcastic expression.
"Since she offered to help, I’ll go back then. She’s the proper grandmother, so it’s expected for her to take care of her grandson," Mother Cheng said. "It’s just as well; I can also keep your dad pany."
Cheng Su didn’t say anything. Her mother-in-law taking the initiative to help left her with no real rebuttal. She still has a year until graduation and indeed needs help with childcare. Otherwise, not only her mother-in-law but even her own mother wouldn’t be asked to trouble themselves.
There’s no obligation for the elderly to help you raise a child, especially as they age. They might have the heart but lack the strength, because children are energetic, and taking care of them for a whole day exhausts even young people, let alone the elderly.
Therefore, her offering to help is for the sake of the child. Refusing would indeed seem ungrateful.
Cheng Su could only think of her mother-in-law’s previous habits, feeling slightly uneasy.

"What do you think then?" Qi Taiguo asked. "If you don’t want mom to take care, I can talk to her."
Qi Taiguo was always mindful of their not-so-harmonious mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship, fearing Cheng Su might have concerns, and even more so worried that if he’s not around, this mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo might have bigger conflicts over the child, hence he brought it up.
Long-distance solutions can’t solve immediate problems; his mom has a stubborn personality, and Cheng Su is also headstrong. If they really clash without regard for anything, he can’t extinguish the fire being far away in Zhu City.
Cheng Su thought for a moment, then said, "I think mother-in-law has been hoping for a while. Refusing when she’s offering to help seems a bit ungrateful, doesn’t it? Why not give her a try? If it doesn’t work out, we can make other plans."
"Are you sure?"
