"You brat, watch your mouth! What do you an ’second-hand’? How could you say sothing so nasty!"
Qin Jiao put on an innocent face. "What’s so nasty about the word ’second’? Auntie, you’re on your second marriage, aren’t you? You should be quite used to that word. Don’t tell you don’t like the number two... perhaps you prefer the number three, as in ’the third party’?"
Li Xiaoi was so furious the corner of her mouth started to twitch. She raised her hand to slap Qin Jiao, but Qin Jiao wasn’t the least bit afraid. If Li Xiaoi dared to swing, Qin Jiao was ready to swing right back.
But Li Xiaoi’s slap never landed. Shen Yi grabbed her wrist and forcefully flung it aside. Li Xiaoi stumbled back a couple of steps, but because she was in high heels, her ankle twisted and she plopped right onto the ground.
Li Xiaoi’s ankle was in agony, but being a nurse, she knew there was no serious injury. ’I might as well use this opportunity,’ she thought, ’to solidify the accusation that Shen Yi is violent and ntally ill!’
So she imdiately started wailing, "Help! Soone, help! He’s attacking ! He’s going to kill soone! This is horrifying! He must be a psychopath!"
Qin Jiao was completely stunned.
’Wow, I had no idea this lady was such a drama queen.’
’But your act is a little over the top!’
In no ti, her shouts attracted a crowd. Shen Yi’s face was grim. His natural instinct was to et the confrontation head-on, but Qin Jiao leaned close to his ear and whispered, "Quick. Play the victim."
They were standing so close that when Shen Yi turned his head, the corner of his mouth brushed against Qin Jiao’s smooth cheek. Qin Jiao pursed her lips, and Shen Yi quickly said, "I understand."
One mont, his eyes had been cold and emotionless. The next, they were filled with a deep, inconsolable sorrow.
The crowd gathered around, pointing and murmuring.
"That guy looks so well-put-together. He couldn’t be a psychopath, could he?"
"You can’t judge a book by its cover. Look, that poor lady is crying her eyes out."
"Exactly! Oh my god, they can’t let a psychopath get a driver’s license! If they do, won’t he just start mowing people down with his car?"
Listening to the crowd’s comnts grow increasingly absurd, Qin Jiao and Shen Yi finally understood the depths of Li Xiaoi’s malice.
She was trying to utterly ruin him.
It was at this mont that Qin Jiao spoke up. "Excuse , everyone! You can’t just take this woman’s word for it! Let’s put everything else aside and just look at one fact: my classmate’s father married this woman. And this woman bore him a son... who’s about the sa age as my classmate."
The crowd erupted in an uproar upon hearing this.
The implication was simple enough for anyone to understand: the mistress had successfully replaced the wife, and now she was smugly coming to bully the child from the first marriage!
How shaless could you be!
With a single sentence, Qin Jiao had completely turned the tide of public opinion. On top of that, so people in the crowd had seen Li Xiaoi arrive with Chen Feng. The implication was crystal clear: Chen Feng must be the illegitimate son, the product of the affair.
He was about the sa age as the child from the first marriage. That ant the two of them had been carrying on their affair for years!
"Absolutely shaless! Anyone who breaks up a family is shaless!"
"Exactly! And then she has the gall to slander the man’s son, calling him a psychopath? If you ask , this shaless woman is the real psychopath!"
Listening to the crowd’s condemnations, Li Xiaoi awkwardly scrambled to her feet. She was furious and mortified, but she couldn’t deny the truth: that she had been the mistress who broke up the family.
Chen Feng had just finished his turn practicing and turned to look for his mother when he saw the scene unfolding. He imdiately rushed over, helped her up, and snarled at the crowd, "All of you, shut your mouths!"
"And you were saying *his* son has a bad temper? Look at your own son’s temper!"
"Yeah, look at the glare on him. It looks like he’s about to start a fight!"
