After Zhao Gang hurriedly moved the things, he rushed over, eager to see the secret of this box.

Before he could enter, he heard an exclamation inside about a secret compartnt, which delighted him.

As for Gong Tao, who was following Zhao Gang, he was even happier, grinning widely. His daughter’s luck was really great.

"It’s a secret compartnt, but unfortunately, there’s nothing good inside." Although he didn’t want to dampen the mood, there really was no surprise.

What, there’s nothing in the secret compartnt? Zhao Gang was dumbfounded. Could it be that his happiness was for nothing?

Gong Tao was even more disappointed. He had originally thought his daughter would be lucky, but it turned out to be just an ordinary secret compartnt box. The gap in expectations was a bit too much.

Gong Ruini was actually quite nervous, suddenly recalling now if they might think she had hidden sothing away.

Luckily, Gong Ruini was just a child. No one thought she’d have such ideas. If it were an adult, they might not think so simply.

More importantly, they didn’t think Gong Ruini would have the notion to hide things. Here, whether it was an adult or a child, if you found sothing, it was yours. So if there really were sothing good, there was no need to worry about these things.

"But since there’s nothing inside, why did Ni Zi want it?" Zhao Gang learned from Gong Ruini that she already confird there was nothing in the box at the junkyard, so he was puzzled about why she took it ho.

Looking at the box without the secret compartnt, it really had no collectible value. Luckily they didn’t spend money on it, or they would have lost out.

Hearing Zhao Gang and the others straightforwardly saying that if they knew the box was like this, there was no need to take it, Gong Ruini was speechless.

Being practical is important, but there’s no need to discard things just because there’s no imdiate benefit. That way, you’d miss out on many good things.

"In the future, this box can still store so things. Look, even Brother Guangran, who’s always curious, wasn’t interested in opening it. That shows how unremarkable this box is."

Gong Ruini explained her reason for wanting to take such a box ho, "More importantly, it’s free, so why not take it."

Zhao Gang was utterly disappointed. All the excitent on his way here, thinking he’d see sothing good, only to end up with this result.

Gong Tao was also quite disappointed. But his daughter was right, since it was free, there was no need to be bothered by these things.

"Ni Zi, as long as you like it." Whether it costs money or not, as long as his daughter likes it, it’s fine.

Her father spoiled her so much that Gong Ruini loved his bold response, "Dad, you’re the best."

"Actually, Dad, I think you should design so furniture with secret compartnts so in the future things can be stored like this." Gong Ruini had been considering this on the way back.

All those safes and vaults practically advertise to thieves that there’s sothing valuable inside, but creating a cabinet with a secret compartnt — unless pointed out and without a ticulous person, generally won’t be discovered.

Furniture with secret compartnts, Gong Tao really hadn’t given it much thought. Hearing his daughter’s suggestion, he began to ponder whether he should listen and make one.

"Well then, I need to take this thing back to study a bit." Gong Tao said, indicating that so things need to be studied, such as how the chanism is set up.

"Sure." Gong Ruini waved her hand, signaling that Gong Tao could take it for research, "Dad, don’t break it, because I want to keep it as a nto."

Such a shabby thing, yet his daughter cherished it so much that Gong Tao felt like crying, "Once Dad can make it, I’ll make you a prettier box."

"I’ll even carve designs on it to make it beautiful." Lately, Gong Tao had been studying how to carve designs on furniture; he needed to produce a lot of wood shavings.

"Great, great." Gong Ruini had long wanted a small dressing mirror. Though she currently had no jewelry to place, just the thought of sitting by the window brushing her hair in the mirror felt delightful.

Though she never had such a tool for flaunting, and had to regretfully give up. But if her father could produce sothing so nice, she’d surely love it.

Just thinking about her father’s skills improving made her thrilled, knowing she’d benefit as his favorite daughter, prompting her to flatter him, "Dad, let wipe off this box for you."

Such a dirty box shouldn’t soil his hands. After all, she had nothing else to do.

"I’ll handle it." Gong Tao wasn’t willing to let his daughter do such coarse work. Her hands were for reading, writing, and painting, not for this.

"Ni Zi, you’ve been busy all day, you must be tired." Within this short ti, his daughter was yawning non-stop, making Gong Tao feel all sorts of reluctance.

Gong Ruini was indeed tired. The journey back had the car filled with stuff. It was already fortunate to have a place to sit; lying down was out of the question. After such a bumpy ride back, she was exhausted.

"Alright, I’m off to sleep." Gong Ruini waved her hand and went to her room to sleep.

Gong Tao took the sample box his daughter brought him and cheerfully went outside to start cleaning. Now, looking at it, he felt the box wasn’t that ugly. It was so inconspicuous that no one would notice — a great place to hide things.

Zhao Gang watched Gong Tao gleefully clean the box and was speechless. Truly a man who spoils his daughter.

How many people would promise to research cabinets with secret compartnts just because their daughter said so? Yet, if Gong Tao can make one, valuable items would have a place to go, rather than randomly tossed into so box or inside so unworn clothes — seemingly safe, but easily forgotten if mory fails.

Should Gong Tao succeed in making such furniture, it could attract more business. Though he’s currently making things for the villagers for free, once skilled, he can’t not charge. There needs to at least be a labor fee.

Once people know Gong Tao can make furniture with secret compartnts, it would surely cause a sensation with many tempted to commission one.

Zhao Gang was worried again. If Gong Tao researches such furniture, wouldn’t more people know about the compartnts? If thieves target this, it could beco a problem. The village is small, and it’s not a secret who Gong Tao makes furniture for.

Zhao Gang decided that if Gong Tao really figured it out, he mustn’t let him make it for the villagers; otherwise, it could beco a big issue.

Gong Tao didn’t know Zhao Gang worried about such distant matters. He was busy cleaning the box. Initially, he thought it would be easy to clean — just so dust or grease — but after cleaning, he realized sothing was off.
