Gong Ruini got up early in the morning; the winter in Jiangnan is really cold. As soon as Gong Ruini poked her head out of the bed, she felt a chill and shivered involuntarily.

"Sister, get up a bit later." Gong Ruwen also felt how cold it was outside, but there was no choice; today was the day of grandpa’s funeral. As grandchildren, they had to fulfill this final duty.

"No, I’ll get up." Gong Ruini didn’t want to suffer twice. "We still need to go to grandpa’s house."

Yesterday, Gong Qiang hadn’t failed to persuade Gong Tao and them to stay over. Rembering the dirty blanket, Gong Ruini felt chills; moreover, there was a bath at the hotel yesterday, so of course, it was better to co back and take a hot shower.

Cai ina, with the siblings, hurriedly arrived at the Gong Family. She was relieved to find that the relatives hadn’t arrived yet.

Miao Cuihua saw Gong Ruwen and his siblings and waved them over, "Go to the kitchen and have sothing to drink. The porridge today turned out quite well."

"Thank you, aunt." Regardless of Miao Cuihua’s character, she at least took care of them a bit compared to Wu Rui.

"Go ahead, have so more to drink. Your grandmother really went all out today." Miao Cuihua, despite her doubts about Gong Tao’s future, had to admit that Gong Tao and his wife were good at educating their children.

Look at how well Gong Ruwen and his siblings were raised, so polite in every way, dealing with people so neatly, they hardly caused any worry for the adults.

Gong Ruini already knew that today would be quite plentiful, for one reason, to show friends and family that the Gong Family was not in decline. Besides, today was New Year’s Eve, which ant that the long-separated family reunites once more.

"Oh, by the way, Wu Family won’t be coming today either." Miao Cuihua scanned the surroundings, not seeing Wu Rui’s figure, she whispered.

Although Tu Chunni didn’t explicitly say it when leaving yesterday, the implication was that the Cai Family might not co today. Miao Cuihua knew about Cai ina’s parents’ bias; she didn’t expect them to openly disrespect her amidst so many relatives.

Why wouldn’t Wu Rui’s family co? Didn’t Wu Rui’s mother pay respects yesterday? Surely she’s not looking after her? Considering it, Cai ina thought it was impossible. Wu Rui never cared about her sisters-in-law, so why would she consider her sister-in-law’s dignity?

"That’s because her family is currently self-absorbed."

"And do you know why Gong Zheng has been so spiritless lately?" Thinking of the news she’d heard, Miao Cuihua’s mood instantly improved.

"If it weren’t for the old man’s passing, Wu Rui probably hoped the old man could promote their family man." Miao Cuihua sneered; at that ti, they flaunted themselves above others, as if Old Wu’s Family only helped raise Old Gong Family, not needing Gong Family’s support.

Ah, didn’t Gong Zheng always follow the route of Wu Rui’s father? Why is he now expecting Gong Dajiang’s help?

"Wasn’t he supposed to be promoted?" Right, this news was told by Gong Zhuang, which made Gong Qiang quite upset at the ti.

How long has it been since then, and has sothing changed again?

Gong Ruini brought out a bowl of porridge for Cai ina to eat, just overhearing this explosive news; heavens, could it be that Gong Zheng’s promotion failed again?

It’s reasonable to think this; these past few days, Gong Zheng has been unusually quiet, so quiet that it’s unsettling.

Gong Ruini thought the news of Gong Dajiang’s passing might have made Gong Zheng feel embarrassed to show off, not realizing there was more hidden.

Gong Tao was just about to invite Cai ina for a al when he heard this news too, and was startled, looking up at Gong Zheng sitting quietly next to Gong Dajiang’s body.

"Your uncle is old." He previously thought Gong Zheng was grieving over Gong Dajiang’s death; now it seed it was his career causing sadness.

"This ti, the lack of promotion is nothing; he can rise up later." Gong Ruini wanted to say that it might not be a good thing to succeed too young, especially when following the Wu family’s route.

Miao Cuihua, frightened by Gong Tao’s words with his daughter, was relieved that neither Gong Qiang nor Gong Zheng’s families were paying attention.

Since no one noticed, good news is, of course, to be shared with everyone; otherwise, it’s no fun, "This ti is different; there’s a major incident at the factory." Miao Cuihua explained why Gong Zheng couldn’t be promoted this ti.

My goodness, Gong Ruini thought Gong Zheng was among the wronged, potentially sacrificed in factional struggles, not realizing it was due to this incident.

If the transfer order ca and Gong Zheng reported to the new departnt, this matter might have just settled, yet Gong Zheng hadn’t left; the factory manager clearly had the right to keep him behind.

Really such a tragically unlucky child, Gong Ruini couldn’t help but feel sad for Gong Zheng. If not for Gong Tao paving the way ahead, it’d be claid that Gong Zheng is the unluckiest in the Gong Family.

"Then what’s most unfortunate is being unable to be promoted within five years, becoming rely a junior staff mber. Can Gong Zheng accept it?" If she were in his place, Miao Cuihua couldn’t accept it either.

If one could endure this, they’d be a notable figure; the question remained whether Gong Zheng could withstand it.

Previously, he was all excited, thinking about the promotion, returning ho triumphantly, showing off in front of Gong Qiang; now everything turned into a joke, Gong Zheng barely holds on to his sanity.

Miao Cuihua felt slightly sorry, though mostly amused, considering the Gong Brothers all show promise, making Gong Zhuang seem useless, and now one by one, the promising ones collapse, leaving no real difference.

Gong Tao was thinking further, "Does this matter truly relate to Gong Zheng?" If it was a new product launch, the technical section would value it most highly, certainly acting with utmost care, as it’s a potential ss.

Having worked in the technical departnt for so long, it’d be illogical for Gong Zheng not to understand this.

Gong Tao considered Gong Zheng might have been set up, given his move from a branch to the main factory as deputy head of the technical departnt, anticipating satisfaction by year’s end, could have provoked considerable discontent.

If these people indeed tead up against Gong Zheng, it’s not an implausible matter.

"This I don’t know, but the new project is strongly emphasized by the new factory manager, enforcing the whole factory’s central attention." Whether wrongly accused is irrelevant.

What’s crucial is having offended such a figure; would life be any easier?

Adding to Gong Zheng’s despair is, "That person, rumored to possibly beco the factory’s general secretary next year." Miao Cuihua almost said that if this individual stays in the factory, Gong Zheng’s lifelong hope is utterly shattered.

Even if the higher-ups forget about Gong Zheng, the flatterers below would rember, ensuring Gong Zheng pays dearly for this incident.

Uh, Gong Ruini withdraws her previous review; even with Gong Tao being unlucky, he’s not as unfortunate as Gong Zheng.

Having reached the Northeast, planning ambitions to establish deeply in the Northeast, no one rembers now; life there is comfortable, skies wide and clouds high.
