Looking at the plate that had completely fulfilled the Clean Plate Campaign, Gong Ruini really wanted to cry.

"Told you to eat slowly." Gong Ruwen watched Ni Zi rubbing her belly nonstop, knowing she hadn’t eaten enough, but there was nothing he could do.

"I didn’t expect it to be like this." Gong Ruini was speechless.

She knew this group of people wouldn’t eat in a refined manner, but she didn’t expect them to be this fierce. "Luckily, it’s just one al."

Gong Ruini had eaten with them before, but it had never been this ruthless. Could it be that they’ve grown up, thus their appetites have increased?

"Today’s ingredients were good, and the dishes got better with Mom’s guidance, improving the quality of the food." Gong Ruwen, even though not Zhang Lan’s favored grandson, had to linger here during the funeral arrangents, and he’d tasted Dai Lixia’s cooking, which was really indescribable.

Got it, it’s all about the good cooking skills. Gong Ruini didn’t think the cooking was good, just slightly better than before, but it didn’t justify this.

Gong Ruini really wanted to cry, wishing she hadn’t suggested that Dai Lixia’s skills improve — at least she could’ve eaten sothing.

Gong Ruini regretted it, as did Cai ina. She had initially intended to guide Dai Lixia a bit so her kids could eat better, but seeing everyone’s reaction now, it was totally to others’ advantage.

Cai ina didn’t want to grab so food from her own table, but as soon as she did, Gong Zheng started mocking.

She could endure it once or twice, but too many tis and Cai ina was unwilling to tolerate it. "Rui Wen, you take Ni Zi and the others ho."

Cut, it’s just that she doesn’t want Ni Zi and them to eat here, but there aren’t any places to eat. They have plenty of snacks at ho and won’t let their daughter starve.

This was the opportunity Gong Ruini was waiting for. As soon as she heard her mother relent, she quickly pulled Gong Ruwen along to leave.

"Leaving just like that." Gong Qiang was tipsy, feeling quite happy inside. The New Year’s Eve dinner was so rich, plus there was alcohol; it truly looked like happiness from any angle.

"Yeah, they didn’t eat enough." Cai ina wasn’t polite at all. "Lili, they should pay more attention."

"Who told Ni Zi to eat slowly." Gong Lili didn’t feel there was an issue at all. If nobody was eating er so much, how could soone miss out on food?

Cai ina was truly angered by Gong Lili’s words, with their endless eating and speed at grabbing dishes into their bowls, who could keep up with them?

Thinking about it, Cai ina didn’t say anything. Since no one ntioned it, why should she, a re bystander, concern herself with these trivial matters? Not like it would impact marriage prospects, right?

Cai ina’s silence lifted Gong Lili’s mood quite a bit. Even if her uncles were teachers at Jing University, so what? How much could they earn? People nowadays needed to hustle for money.

Gong Lili enthusiastically poured alcohol for Gong Zhuang, making Gong Qiang sowhat jealous and grumble, "My daughter hasn’t poured drinks many tis."

Gong Qiang adored his son, using the whole family’s connections to support him, but it didn’t an he wouldn’t care for his daughter. Whenever they ca up with feasible ideas, Gong Qiang would signal for them to try it.

This ti, with his daughter being so diligent, she might be hoping that Gong Zhuang would lend a hand or two.

"Wasn’t I good to Lili when she was a child?" Gong Zhuang was taken aback by Gong Lili’s actions, such an awful drink was hard to drink. The girl was indeed very shrewd.

Sotis when Gong Xiaoyu ntioned a good word, he might give a bit. But this niece was notably stingy, not showing goodwill unless there’s a benefit in store.

This sudden display made Gong Zhuang wonder if Gong Lili hoped to be employed by him, which really startled him.

Gong Zhuang needed to hire people, otherwise as his business grew, the demand for help was becoming increasingly pressing. But how could he hire soone affiliated with the Gong Family? That would be suicidal.

However, directly denying her might appear too harsh, and considering Gong Lili had so abilities and so conscience, maybe it was worth giving her a little advantage, possibly gaining insights into the Gong Family’s behaviors in return?

"After the New Year, I’ll see about getting Lili a good job. How about in a state-owned enterprise?" Gong Zhuang wasn’t working in the factory, but he had a wide circle of acquaintances.

Working in a state-owned enterprise actually wasn’t to Gong Lili’s liking. Nowadays, many were not faring well in terms of benefits. If possible, she’d prefer to go to Gong Zhuang’s place, or at least work at Miao Cuihua’s specialty store.

"State-owned enterprise is good." Gong Qiang, having worked in a factory his entire life, believed it was better for girls to find stable jobs, making it easier to settle down later.

Gong Zhuang wasn’t surprised by Gong Qiang’s response. His eldest brother had spent his entire life in the factory, alongside his perpetually shortsighted outlook; forever lacking vision.

Currently, many state-owned enterprises were people-heavy with little work; prolonging it but ultimately proving unsustainable, destined for closure. Counting on higher-ups to change things is fanciful; it’s better to figure out one’s own path.

"Lili?" Gong Qiang could simply heed Gong Qiang’s advice, but the girl seed to have her own ideas, so they gave her an opportunity.

"I want to work at Auntie’s store as a salesperson." Gong Lili thought it over for a long while and retreated a bit. That was the only way to have Gong Zhuang lend a hand.

Smart girl. "Alright, you’ll be at the old store, but rember, we have a rule: no nepotism; only the boss and the workers."

"You must listen to the store manager; the base salary isn’t high, but if you sell more products, you get commission." Gong Zhuang wouldn’t make things difficult for Gong Lili but wouldn’t give her too much favor either.

"In short, earn your face; no one will pity you for it." Gong Zhuang stated bluntly.

Gong Qiang protested internally when he heard that, with his daughter working at Gong Zhuang’s wife’s store, needing to listen not only to Gong Zhuang but also to this unknown store manager. It seed like his daughter’s dignity was being trampled.

Gong Qiang was about to say she’d not go to work at all — it was too disrespectful.

"I’ll do it."

"If I do well, will I have a chance to beco the store manager?" Gong Lili wanted to know if there were growth opportunities.

"Yes." Miao Cuihua wasn’t fond of the Gong Family working at her place, but if she truly proved herself, she couldn’t deny her the opportunity, moreover allowing the Gong Family to see she didn’t look down upon them.

"Good, I’ll do it." Gong Lili was confident in herself; she’d been good at chatting with people since childhood, and she refused to believe she’d remain a re salesperson for her entire life.

Soti in the future, she’d earn enough to open her own shop and earn big.

Gong Lili was full of ambition, but in Gong Qiang’s eyes, it seed otherwise; he was truly angry with his daughter to the point of exasperation. "You... you..."

But what could he do? Gong Lili simply ignored him completely.
