Especially in this crisis-laden situation, her appearance caused the wolf pack to imdiately quiet down, an eerie scene.

But in the mont of crisis, no one delved into the bizarre aspect.

"Gu Jin! Why are you here?!"

Upon seeing Gu Jin, Gu Decang’s voice was fraught with anxiety.

"Howl... howl..."

As he raised his voice, the lead wolf among the pack let out a low howl, not as angry as before, yet still unable to hide its resistance to humans.

Gu Jin also hadn’t expected the wolves to quiet down after her arrival.

She had originally been prepared to reveal her abilities if necessary to protect the villagers of Qingshan Village because her uncle and her aunt’s husband were here. She could not let them get hurt or, worse, lose their lives to the wolves’ attack.

"Uncle, I just ca over to check on what’s going on."

Gu Jin walked towards Gu Decang, standing beside him, her voice calm.

Xia Hongguo also didn’t expect Gu Jin to suddenly appear, and after her arrival, for the wolves to inexplicably fall into silence, a thing laced with mystery no matter how you saw it.

"Uncle, and your husband, are you both alright?"

Gu Jin asked while her eyes warily scanned the surrounding wolf pack.

"What could happen to us? How did a girl like you co up here? Aren’t you afraid of danger?"

Xia Hongguo, drenched in sweat after being earlier surrounded by the wolves, spoke with a voice that maintained an undue calm.

Gu Jin chuckled lightly, her eyes bright and captivating in the darkness, eting the green gaze of the lead wolf.

As they stared at each other, Gu Jin seed to sense its plea.

This perplexed her—why was she able to detect a plea in a wolf’s eyes?

She looked back at the villagers of Qingshan Village behind her, seeing their panic-stricken faces. It was evident nothing useful could be asked of them.

"Shanzi!"

Suddenly, a joyful voice called from behind.

In the trembling crowd, Shanzi, upon hearing the voice of his own father, quickly turned his head.

In that glance, he saw Liu Daqing’s figure, clearly illuminated by the flashlight even in the dark.

Liu Daqing wasn’t alone; a few n were with him. They had been hiding in the cave, not daring to co out until the howling of wolves ceased, prompting them finally to peek out.

Noticing the absence of the wolf pack, they felt a joyful surprise and, emboldened, left the cave intending to descend the mountain.

Upon seeing the village head’s son, He Wenqing, Gu Decang, and others, these people delightfully approached.

Just as the two groups were about to converge, a sudden twist occurred.

"Howl howl howl..."

The wolf pack, which had remained relatively quiet, suddenly bypassed the others to surround Liu Daqing and his companions as soon as they erged from the cave.

The lead wolf, accompanied by the pack, continuously emitted an angry growl.

This situation was plain to see—the wolves were targeting them specifically.

"Don’t co over... go away..."

"Ah ah ah..."

Surrounded by the wolves, these people imdiately fell into a panic.

Yet, the wolves did not imdiately attack after surrounding them. They rely kept pressing closer to the people.

The lead wolf stood proudly among the pack, its eyes fixed on Gu Jin.

It sensed that this person was powerful, carrying sothing that commanded its respect—an ability capable of easily killing them, hence it dared not attack rashly.

As Gu Jin continued her stare-off with the lead wolf, Gu Decang, He Wenqing, Xia Hongguo, and others finally understood.

If it were for no reason, why would the wolves focus on Liu Daqing and others? It seed they had angered the wolf pack.
